Who is Leo in Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a very nice place where several villagers live in harmony. By wandering around the Pelican Town alone, the player can already meet the villagers with their own personalities and background stories. But wait until you visit Ginger Island where even more people have their own stories to tell. Upon arriving on Ginger Island, one of the most important residents to meet here is Leo.
Leo is a very shy little boy who lives in a hut on Ginger Island with his parrot. He is a little different compared to other natives of Ginger Island. Given that he is only living with a parrot, his social skills when it comes to interacting with other people were not developed. With that, talking to him at first will not result in anything as he is too shy to entertain you.
Now, if you are wondering why Leo is alone with a bird, it is because he became an orphan at a young age after he lost his parents in the sea. It was such a tragic story for a little kid like Leo that he now considers the parrots on the island as his family.
How to Befriend Leo
As previously mentioned, Leo is always shy when it comes to talking to other people. But you, as the protagonist of this story, can make it possible for Leo to open up and learn how to be comfortable around new people.
In order for you to get to talk to Leo, you have to be friends first with his parrot. You can do this by collecting 10 Golden Walnuts around Ginger Island. If you need help finding the locations of the Golden Walnuts, you can check this article for a detailed guide.
Upon making friends with his parrots, Leo slowly lowers his guard and tries talking to you little by little. What’s even better is that you can now increase our friendship level with Leo. Once you reach a friendship heart that is greater than 6, Leo will then leave his hut on Ginger Island and move to the mainland. Because of this event, he will find friendship with Linus, Jas, and Vincent.
Leo’s Schedule
After breaking the ice between you and Leo, you would want to be closer to him for the rest of the story. You can do this by increasing our friendship level through talking to him every day. But just like any other villager, Leo also has his schedule for a week. Knowing his schedule is one way of making sure you get to talk to him in a day.
But Leo’s schedule changes depending on the number of your friendship hearts.
Less than Six Hearts
While you and Leo are still trying to get along without reaching six friendship hearts, Leo will still be staying in his hut on Ginger Island. Here is his schedule during this time.
Rainy Day
To start the day, Leo will stay inside his hut from 9:00 AM and will be outside the entrance of his hut by 11:00 AM. By 2:00 PM, he will then go back inside and immediately go to bed by 9:00 PM.
Tuesday
On Tuesdays, Leo will also spend his morning inside his hut at 9:00 AM. By 10:30 AM, Leo will head towards the dock on Island South to stand near the entrance of Island Southeast. Then, he will go back to the jungle just outside his hut by 1:30 PM. Still not wanting to end the day, he will walk to the Island Trader at 5:00 PM. Finally, he will go back to his hut at 8:00 PM and prepare for bedtime.
Sunday
Starting the day at 9:00 AM in his hut, Leo will take a walk to the Gem Bird Shrine in the east of the jungle by 9:30 AM.
By 2:00 PM, Leo will move to the entrance of his hut and will come back inside by 5:00 PM. As usual, he will go to bed at 9:00 PM.
Regular Schedule
Outside the previously mentioned days, Leo will follow this schedule instead.
Still wakes up at 9:00 AM. By 10:30 AM, Leo will stand outside the entrance of his hut. After a while, he will take a walk to the docks at Island South next to the parrot perch at noon. Once it is 3:00 PM, he will go to the Island North and will stand on the western side of the volcano entrance. He will go back home at 8:00 PM to call it a day.
More than Six Hearts
Once you have already reached the six friendship hearts, Leo will move into the Stardew Valley mainland and will live in a treehouse. By this time, his schedule will be changed. But he will still visit Ginger Island on Sundays and some Mondays.
Spring
- Monday – At this point, Leo will go to his hut on Ginger Island at 6:00 AM to go next to the parrot perch in Island South by 9:30 AM. By 2:00 PM, he will move outside his hut and will enter it at 5:00 PM. By 9:00 PM, Leo will go to bed.
- Tuesday and Wednesday – On these days, he will just be inside his treehouse at 6:00 AM. Then, he will walk to the museum library at 9:00 AM. Once it is 2:00 PM, he will go to the south of the museum. After a while, he will go to the east of his treehouse by 4:20 PM. When it is 8:00 PM, it’s time for him to go inside the treehouse and go to bed at 10:00 PM.
- Thursday and Friday – Leo will wake up at 6:30 AM. After 30 minutes, he will stand to the east of his treehouse and will move to the west of the mountain lake at 9:30 AM. By 2:00 PM, he will move over to the east of his treehouse before he goes back inside by 7:00 PM. At 10:00 PM, Leo will be having his bedtime.
- Saturday – During Saturdays, you will find Leo beside Haley and Emily’s house as early as 9:40 AM. As a kid, Leo will play in the playground by noon before he walks to the east of his treehouse by 5:00 PM. At 7:00 PM, he will enter the treehouse to prepare for his bedtime at 10:00 PM.
- Sunday – Sunday is the day to go back to Ginger Island as early as 6:10 AM. By 10:30 AM, Leo will walk near the entrance of the Island Southeast. When it is already 1:30 PM, he can be found standing outside his hut. He will then go to the Island Trader by 5:00 PM and will go to bed in his hut by 8:00 PM.
Summer

His bedtime will still be at 10:00 PM.

Gift Giving
Another way to increase your friendship with Leo is by giving him gifts every day. However, you need to know his gift preferences since the gifts you give can either make or break your friendship. Plus, giving presents on birthdays has eight times the effect. In Leo’s case, his birthday is on Summer 26.
Loved Gifts
These items are the best to give Leo every time: all Universal Loves, Duck Feather, Mango, Ostrich Egg, and Poi.
Liked Gifts
If you find it hard to look for items included in Leo’s loved gifts, you can also give him items in his like gifts.
