Foreword
Today I am going to be sharing with you the best action games for android in 2022. Not all of these action games are going to be in the same genre. I’ve added quite a few unique action games for Android that include MOBAs, battle royales, action adventure games, survival games, and shooter action games (although what shooter isn’t an action game?). Also, I have added the price of the games when not on sale and some of these android games are free as well. All that being said, I hope everyone who reads this can find something they are interested in! Let’s begin.
PUBG
PUBG was, and still kind of is, one of the largest action games for android. It was one of the first battle royales to really hit it big and before Fortnite, was the largest BR game on any device. In fact, if you go back a couple of years, PUBG gets listed as one of the best action games in 2018 as well.
This is one game you can’t play alone and you definitely won’t have to, considering PUBG’s 3.2 million player base.
For those of you who haven’t heard of PUBG, which would be extremely surprising, the way the game works is that you are one of 99 players dropped onto a map and your goal is to be the last man standing. To reach this goal you will be scavenging the map for resources such as weapons, ammo, and armor. Thankfully, you don’t have to go in alone if you don’t want to, you can bring up to 3 other friends to join you on your quest for the legendary “chicken dinner”.
Games of PUBG can last for almost an hour, but for those who want a quick game on the go you can always hit up one of the other game modes or Arcade mode, which have much quicker and sometimes more exciting game modes.
Want to check it out for yourself? PUBG is completely free with optional in-game purchases (cosmetic only) to spend all that extra dough on. Get it here on Google Play.
Tesla vs. Lovecraft
Talk about quirky.
Tesla vs. Lovecraft is an exciting top-down shooter game that pits the deadly smart Nikola Tesla vs. the father of the Eldritch horrors H.P. Lovecraft. As a fan of both of these legendary men I’ve gotta say, what a badass android game.
In Tesla vs. Lovecraft, you the player will control Tesla and his “Tesla Mech” to fight against H.P. Lovecraft’s Eldritch creatures which he has unleashed upon the world. If that doesn’t get your gears turning, what does?
This epic shoot-em-up has incredibly comfortable controls for a mobile game and features Bluetooth controller support for those of you out there who prefer that.
Tesla has extremely powerful weaponry that can be found lying on the ground as you play and can mow down entire hordes in seconds. Of course, this is balanced by a seemingly unlimited amount of enemies to eviscerate. Additionally, after collecting all six pieces of the “Tesla Mech” you can control a machine of absolute destruction, killing Eldritch creatures at unheard of levels.
Besides all of that, Telsa vs. Lovecraft has everything you would expect from a mobile action game. Multitudes of levels, powerful power-ups, an intuitive leveling system, and an absolute unit of a mech. What more could anyone want? Maybe an affordable electric car….
Tesla vs. Lovecraft is a simply electrifying (there I said it, happy?) Android action game that is a must-have for anyone who is a fan of either Tesla or Lovecraft. You can get it for $9.99 on Google Play here.
Death Road To Canada
Did you know that three out of every five Canadians will be murdered by a rampaging moose?
Death Road to Canada is one of those rare action games where you can have a shotgun-wielding pug help you kill zombies. In this “Randomly Generated Road Trip Simulator” travel through randomized locations with a gang of quirky companions (sometimes mega-man) and together completely eviscerate zombie hordes. Fun, right?
There are loads of things to do in this game. Want to recreate your family except in a zombie apocalypse? Done. Want a professional doggie driver? Done. Want a better ending to Game of Thrones? What are you mad?
Death Road to Canada is a single player game, however, you can split screen/local play with up to 4 people. Family fun for everyone.
Get it on Google Play or VHS. Wait, what?
Fortnite
Reeeeeeeeee.
To all you Fortnite haters out there, you only hate it cuz you ain’t it. Straight facts homie. Does Fortnite count as an action game? If shooting and bludgeoning people to death isn’t action, what is?
Fortnite Mobile is huge. Some might even call it the Fortnite of Android, but I just don’t see the similarities between the two.
What do you do in Fortnite? Battle Royale of course. You and up to 100 players duke it out for the top spot in the lobby. You need to find all of your weapons and equipment on the map — you don’t land with anything other than a pickaxe (and a disappearing umbrella). Classic BR format if you’ve ever played one *cough* PUBG *cough*
One thing that makes Fortnite unique, however, is the fact that you can build your own cover using resources. Remember that pick you drop with? Swing that f**ker at trees and you get wood which can then be built into ramps, ceilings, walls, all that good stuff.
Fortnite has also been known to pump out updates like a rabbit humping. Every season you also get a battle pass that can be leveled up for cosmetic rewards.
If you want to play Fortnite download it from Epic Games here.
Jydge
Jydge is a visceral top-down shooter that appears to be an homage to the Judge Dredd character. In Jydge, you play as a robocop, oops, a Jydge who comes equipped with his gavel or as everyone else calls it a huge ass gun. But, it is an action game so gotta get that badass name.
You will find that Jydge also has some action RPG elements in it, as you are able to upgrade Jydge with items found throughout the levels. Thankfully so, as you will need these upgrades to complete the several challenges the game gives you. In fact, you might even find yourself going back to play certain levels just to unlock the challenges.
If you want to play Dredd… I mean Jydge download it here on Google Play.
Stranger Things
Do you know what is really strange? Making a Netflix original into a mobile game. Even stranger, how ridiculously good it is.
Stranger Things: The Game is quite a fun little romp through the town of Hawkins. Starting out you play as the Police Chief Jim Hopper who is looking for a missing kid. As the game progresses you add several new members to your party and begin using them to help solve the numerous puzzles the game throws at you.
All in all the game is extremely solid. It might not be the action-filled adrenaline rush that most of the other games on this list are, but it certainly has its appeal.
Download the game here on Google Play for free (no ads either :D).
Injustice 2
The biggest injustice is you not playing this game.
Injustice 2 is a fighting game and sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us taking place in the DC universe with all the heroes and their big bads. Batman, the Flash, Joker, Superman, Doomsday, you name it we got it.
Unleash big combo moves and even fight 3v3 battles with friends. There is a ton of stuff to do and unlock and there is even a story mode for you hardcore DC fans out there.
Essentially, Injustice 2 is Mortal Kombat with the Batmobile.
Download it on Google Play here.
GTA San Andreas
Does the Pope shit in the woods?
It is no china town wars, but I’d be damned if it isn’t GTA. San Andreas still brings back fond memories of harassing hookers (and sometimes running them over), getting harassed by cops, and the radio classics that boom from every car. For a mobile game, it sure feels like a crime.
The game is played with dual analog with three different control schemes to offer players the choice of customization. Thankfully, GTA San Andreas is also compatible with wireless game controllers and some Bluetooth/USB gamepads (so be careful if you use these).
It also runs fairly smoothly for an ex-console game. Make sure to restart your Android and close all applications after downloading the game. If you want to download GTA go here.
Out of all the best action games for android on this list, this is in my top two.
Mortal Kombat
Get Over Here!
Started from the Gameboy now we here. Mortal Kombat is another fighting action game for Android that you simply must download. If you are familiar with Injustice (ya know the game I listed above this you skimming bastard), then you should be comfortable with Mortal Kombat.
Similar to Injustice, you have a roster of characters to choose from and several challenges to take part in. Three versus three battles, faction battles, and the brutal fatalities we all love, it is all there. Scorpion main btw.
Besides the ultimate roster of classic Mortal Kombat characters, you can also add three more console characters by completing special trial challenges.

Arena of Valor
That’s a lot of damage.
As far as action games go, I would count MOBAs, and it would be a crime not to add one of the most popular games in the world. Fortnite, eat your heart out.
For those of you unfamiliar with MOBAs, the game is a five versus five where the goal is to take the enemies towers/objectives. Once the final one drops, you win. Of course, along the way, you must kill the enemy and their minions, but that is just the fun of it.
Arena of Valor is perfect for any Android users looking for a quick action packed game while at work or at the pooper. Because of its ten minute games, the game has become very popular in China where there is a lot of commutes. That’s the tea, my friends.
Did I mention it is free? Well, here I go then. IT IS FREE. Download it here on Google Play.
Dragon Ball Legends
Ever wanted to be Goku? Ya you have, shut up. Now you can, in Dragon Ball Legends you can play a literal sh*t ton of DBZ characters you grew up with including Goku, Vegeta, Avocado, Trunks, Tomato, Buu, and more. But, don’t think that it is just another DBZ character mashup. No no no. You also get to play an original character in an original story created by the dragon ball creator himself.
You won’t find as many options or challenges as the Injustice or MK games, but you will be able to have an enjoyable time beating up other DBZ characters in one versus one combat. Also, the game doesn’t seem to get stale either. New characters are released regularly. Maybe too regularly, however.
