Path of Exile is one of those RPGs that offers endless choices on how to build your character. Classes like Necromancer, warrior, and mage allow you to choose general playstyles while the builds allow you to niche down into a specialty. This guide will show you the best solo classes for Path of Exile and some of the best builds for those classes.
Lots of these builds were theory crafted by players to create the absolute best builds for every class.
What is the Strongest Class in Path of Exile?
Witch is the strongest class in Path of Exile. She has access to two ascendancies (recommend you read up on them) which are traditionally the most recommended ascendancies in POE, the Elementalist and Necromancer.
If you’re looking for a strong class with many powerful choices, the Witch is definitely the strongest choice.
What is the Easiest Class in Path of Exile?
The Necromancer is the easiest class in Path of Exile. Technically, the Necromancer is an ascendancy, so the Witch is the easiest class, but for most new players this is what you’re looking for.
The reason the Necromancer is the easiest class is that it has minion builds, which are the easiest builds to run and sometimes the cheapest. If you’re a new player looking for an easy time PvE’ing, Necromancer is your “class” of choice.

Now for the builds.
1) SPELLSLINGER DETONATE DEAD NECROMANCER
The Necromancer is a very lethal class in PoE, and is scarier when you opt for a Spellslinger build too!
Focusing on combining Spellslinger Support with Skill Gems such as Desecrate, Volatile Dead, and Detonate Dead, you become a being of cosmic horror that both destroys enemies by way of your summoned minions while also reanimating the dead to replenish your ‘army’ ranks as well.
You can also be creative if you wish to try a different Ascendant build too, moving towards either ‘Corpse Pact’ for an unbelievable Attack Speed buff (synergizes potently with Spellbringer Support) or straight up tankiness with ‘Bone Barrier’.
Spellslinger is an incredibly powerful build in POE, and one of the best solo class builds.
2) POISON BLADE VORTEX ASSASSIN
The tried-and-true Blade Vortex Assassin build continues to work its charm in PoE even today!
There are already a number of different Blade Vortex builds out there, but an Assassin build focusing on Poison stacks can absolutely melt both mobs and Bosses when coupled with the Skill Gem.
You can find this build to be a bit varied too, with some players opting to combine it with Withering Step for permanent Elusive buffs while others tend to maximize the Ascendant Skill Tree towards ‘Toxic Delivery’ instead (together with ‘Mistwalker’, of course!).
3) BLADEFALL BLADE BLAST CHIEFTAIN
Bladefall is an impeccable Skill Gem that combines too well with the Chieftain’s ‘Ngamahu, Flame’s Advance’ passive.
Not only that, when you equip Blade Blast too, you could be doing a combination of Physical Damage (both direct and explosive) and Fire Damage at once!
You can even enhance your DPS further by using some skill points for ‘Valako, Storm’s Embrace’ as well, to benefit from your constant Endurance Charge generation and Enduring Cry Skill Gem.
4) FREEZING PULSE TOTEMS HIEROPHANT
The Templar class is sometimes underappreciated in PoE and the same goes for its Ascendant path, Hierophant too. Even still, it manages to be one of the good Path of Exile best class for solo.
However, by opting for Freezing Pulse totems, you can actually demolish mobs through its constant piercing barrages while being boosted by Support Gems as well.
Another thing to note is that maximizing your ‘Ritual of Awakening’ tree will also provide insane buffs to your totems such as increased Totem Damage, Totem Duration, Totem Placement Speed, and Maximum Number of Totem Summons overall!
5) ICE SHOT DEADEYE
Feast your eyes on your enemies’ endless pain and suffering when you synergize Deadeye’s different Ascendancy skills with Ice Shot!
Not only does Ice Shot deal initial Physical Damage but it also applies Cold Damage to enemies behind the target too.
Apply that with Barrage for maximum Damage output while focusing on ‘Far Shot’ and ‘Endless Munitions’ in the Ascendancy Skill Tree.
You can even consider the ‘Ricochet’ path too to create endless mayhem of freezing ice arrows dancing across your screen!
Final Thoughts
There are already countless numbers of each of these builds available for you to copy, but you can also use them as a baseline for your very own custom build too.
Remember, playing PoE is all about your enjoyment of playing the class which identifies with your personality and playing styles the most, so make that count!
That’s it for our list of the best Path of Exile solo classes! Hope this helps and you enjoyed it! Good luck out there.
