Best Rune Farm in Elden Ring

Runes are the dollars that govern all upgrades and transactions in Elden Ring. They work in the same way as Souls in the Dark Souls series. In short, you need Runes to upgrade your character, buy special weapons, get upgrade kits and notebooks, and much more. So, after spending a few hours in the game, you will start wondering how to get enough Runes to own everything in the Lands Between. Some players even think about cheating, but that just takes away the essence of the game (even if you do find a cheat mod).

Fortunately, there are a few locations where you can farm millions of Runes without sacrificing your right to play Online. The only problem is that the game doesn’t guide you to these places. So, what are the best Rune farms in Elden Ring? Well, this article covers all the major Rune mines so that you can visit them at any point in your game.

The Best Rune Farms in Elden Ring

FromSoftware.inc understands that Elden Ring players can never have enough Runes. So, they have provided a few farming locations at different phases in the game. However, these locations are associated with exploration rewards to keep the players interested in investing more and more hours. In other words, the Rune farms are only available to those who aren’t afraid to explore the unknown. Here are the best Rune farms that you can visit at different phases of Elden Ring:

Rune Farm in Limgrave

Farm in Limgrave

Limgrave is the very first area of your adventures in the Lands Between. At the First Step Site of Grace, you don’t really have any Runes to upgrade or purchase mythical armaments. So, most players prefer to continue the story line and return to Limgrave at a later point to buy everything. Fortunately, there is a secret early-game Rune farm in Elden Ring that you can access after beating the first boss. However, the only way to farm Runes is by killing enemies. So, make sure that you know how to strike before visiting the location.

To reach the farm, start at the Warmaster’s Shack Site of Grace and head south till you reach an open field. There are five trolls wandering in this area; that’s your trophy. All you need to do is to kill the trolls one by one to drop 1,000 Runes from each. The best way to kill a troll is to aim for the legs with a ranged weapon. This way, the troll will drop on his face, allowing you to cause some serious damage with critical strikes. Moreover, friendly fire is turned off for the trolls.

So, if you can somehow manage to lure them into one location, they will accidentally kill each other. Lastly, the trolls respawn after you refresh the area by resting at a Site of Grace. So, once you are done with all 5 trolls, you can rest at the nearest Site of Grace and return to the area to farm some more Runes. This method can yield up to 50,000 Runes in just a few hours.

Rune Farm in Liurnia of the Lakes

Best Rune Farm in Elden Ring - Liurnia of the Lakes

After clearing all major bosses in Limgrave, the next area is Liurnia of the Lakes. It is a massive area with superior enemies and higher Runes dropping. However, farming Runes in Liurnia of the Lakes is far easier than the first method. Firstly, you don’t have to face giant trolls anymore, just some weaker enemies. Secondly, the enemies will fight each other to death, so you can farm some Runes if you are good with your movement. Lastly, you can assist them without fighting anyone if you can dodge a few blows. Still, it would be best to practice your sneaking, dodging, and running before trying this method.

You should hurry to this Rune farm in Elden Ring as the enemies won’t wait for you. To reach the location in Liurnia of the Lakes, start at the Liurnia Highway North Site of Grace. From there, travel north on your Torrent till you reach the battlefield. Here, all you need to do is to sit and wait for the soldiers to kill each other. Once an enemy falls to the ground, you must hurry to the corpse to collect the Runes. Moreover, a giant spirit will appear on the field as you reach near the enemies. The spirit will cause damage to all nearby enemies, increasing the death rate. This way, you can keep on collecting up to 40,000 Runes till the end of the battle.

Rune Farm in Caelid

Caelid is famous for its Lakes of Scarlet Rot, deadly enemies, tough bosses, and, yes, Rune farms. There are multiple locations where you can farm Runes in Caelid. However, most of these farms involve fighting groups of fierce enemies simultaneously. Fortunately, the two easiest and most efficient Rune farms in Caelid aren’t as difficult. Still, you must upgrade your skills and practice your sword and bow skills before trying any luck. Furthermore, you don’t really need to complete your adventures in Caelid to reach the farms.

Best Rune Farm in Elden Ring - Bestial Sanctum

For the first location, you can visit there right from the first Site of Grace in Caelid. However, it requires you to face countless small creatures that reward you generously for killing them. To reach the first farm in Caelid, Bestial Sanctum, and travel south on your Torrent till you reach an open field. You can access Bestial Sanctum from the portal behind the Third Church of Marika at the east end of the river.

You will find a whole lot of agile enemies that are easy to kill when stunned and drop 1,000 Runes each. The best way to kill these enemies is to stun them by repeatedly striking them before finishing them off with one massive blow. Moreover, the enemies are scattered in the field so that you don’t have to face groups of them simultaneously. At worst, you might need to fight 2 or 3 of these weak enemies at once. After dealing with all the enemies, head to the Farum Greatbridge Site of Grace and rest there to respawn all the enemies.

Rune Farm in Elden Ring

The second Rune Farm in Elden Ring is even easier if you are good at shooting arrows. Moreover, the reward per kill is equivalent to killing about 10 weak enemies from the first method. For this farm, you must explore Caelid enough to reach the Mohgwynn Palace.

To reach the farm, head to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace. Here you will see a massive crow right beneath the Site of Grace. Attack the crow with an arrow to trigger its aggression, making him charge toward you, and fall down the cliff. The crow will die instantly after falling, and you can loot 10,000 Runes from just one kill. Moreover, you can rest at the Site of Grace again to respawn the crow and repeat the procedure to your heart’s satisfaction.

Rune Farm in Altus Plateau

Altus Plateau in Elden Ring

Altus Plateau is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions of the Lands Between. It has high mountains, snow-covered fields, and greenery every few yards, and it is a great place to explore the Elden Ring lore. Furthermore, it is also one of the best places to quickly earn hundreds of thousands of Runes in a few hours. However, you must first unlock the area by activating the Grand Lift with a special Medallion. Secondly, you must be confident in your fighting skills to defeat groups of weaklings, a Pumpkin head, and a few trolls. Once you are prepared for the dangers, there is nothing to stop you from becoming the richest dude in the Lands Between.

Once you have both halves of the Dectus Medallion, head straight to the Grand Lift of Dectus. This elevator will take you to the Altus Plateau. Start at the Iniquity Side Path Site of Grace on the main road to reach the Rune farm. Head southwest on your Torrent till you reach an isolated tavern. You will see that the tavern is guarded by multiple torchbearers.

Killing them will drop 400 Runes each. Moreover, you can also find a Pumpkin Head enemy and a few trolls; killing them will drop 1,000 Runes each. Once you have cleared the tavern, you will earn up to 20,000 Runes in a few minutes. Next, head back to the Iniquity Side Path Site of Grace and rest there to respawn all the enemies. The job may seem tiresome, but you can easily generate up to 150,000 Runes per hour. So, it is one of the most efficient farms to quickly gather Runes.

Rune Farm in Mountaintop of the Giants

Mountaintop of the Giants

The Mountaintop of the Giants is yet another beautiful region that can only be accessed from the Altus Plateau. However, the enemies here are huge, deadly, and fast on their feet. The good news is that you can take a break from all the fighting to invest a couple of millions of Runes in yourself. In other words, the Rune farm in the Mountaintop of the Giants is undoubtedly the most efficient and easiest one. However, it requires you to invest your precious game hours and the will to kill a single enemy a couple of thousand times.

To reach the Rune farm in the Mountaintop of the Giants, head straight to the Foot of the Forge Site of Grace. From here, head north to a few yards till you spot a large bird under the giant statues. As soon as you approach the bird, a spider hand will fall from nowhere and land on top of the bird, killing it instantly. You don’t really have to fight the spider hand. Simply collect the loot and run back to the Foot of the Forge Site of Grace. Resting at the Site will respawn the bird, so you can visit him again to enjoy the show and earn 2,000 Runes each time.

The secret bonus Rune farm

The bonus Rune farm in Elden Ring isn’t really in the Lands Between. So, there is no way to stumble upon it while wandering or by fast traveling from a Site of Grace. However, this Rune farm can potentially yield unlimited Runes by killing countless weak enemies. Secondly, you must activate the Elden Ring Online mode to enjoy this section of the game. Finally, it would be best to invest all your Runes in character upgrades and buy powerful gear before you visit the farm. Moreover, you can acquire the Golden Scarab to maximize your Rune yield per visit. It isn’t really a necessary step, but, It can easily make this region seem like a piece of cake for you.

Bonus Rune Farm in Elden Ring

You must first defeat Godrick, the Grafted, to access the bonus location. After killing the boss, head back to the First Step Site of Grace. Here you will find an NPC named White Mask Varré. In case Varré isn’t there anymore, he will leave a message on the ground, asking you to meet him at the Rose Church. You can find the Rose Church on the large island southwest of Liurnia of the Lakes. You will eventually find the island when exploring the outskirts of the Raya Lucaria Academy.

Varre

After speaking with Varré, ask him about the Two Fingers. Next, you must invade three worlds using the Festering Bloody Fingers. The outcome of your invasions doesn’t matter, so don’t worry if you die. After completing the invasions, head back to the Rose Church and speak with Varré again to receive the Lord of Blood’s Favor.

Next, you must travel to the Church of Inhibition, defeat the invading NPC and soak the Lord of Blood’s Favor with the maiden’s corpse. Again, return to the Rose Church and speak with Varré two times to receive the Bloody Finger and the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Finally, use the Medal to teleport to the secret location, run along the wall, through the river of blood, and go up the hill. Ignore all enemies on your way, and if you die, use the Medal to teleport again.

You will find a Site of Grace at the end of your path; rest there to save your progress. Now, all you need to do is to kill the enemies and loot the Runes. Beware of the red enemies, as they will turn into red spike balls and cause damage. At the end of the fight, you will have anywhere between 30,000 to 40,000 Runes. Finally, return to the Site of Grace, rest to respawn all enemies, and start looting the Runes again.
