One of the classic classes from previous Diablo games has made a reappearance in Diablo 4. The Sorcerer is likely the strongest class in D4 right now, with certain builds being able to roll through the entire game without a sweat.
This guide is going to cover the best sorcerer build in Diablo 4 and what you should look out for when leveling. All the best skills, abilities, and passives for the Sorcerer.
Now that the game has finally been released, we will update this build as time passes. Builds haven’t been fully figured out yet, so be patient.
Best Sorcerer Build in Diablo 4
For this Sorcerer build, you will be using Chain Lightning predominantly. Chain Lightning is super broken right now and is what most Sorcerers are running.
To start, we will only be grabbing Chain Lightning and Arc Lash. You don’t want to be wasting skill points on other skills. Instead, you want to upgrade the few skills you have until you unlock the better ones further down the skill tree.
Here are the skills you should level for a level ten Sorcerer in Diablo 4:
- Arc Lash
- Enhanced Arc Lash
- Chain Lightning
- Enhanced Chain Lightning
- Flickering Arc Lash
- Greater Chain Lightning
- Teleport
- Enhanced Teleport
- Shimmering Teleport
My main reasons for going Arc Lash are because of the AOE damage it does early and the movement speed bonuses you get once you upgrade it. It makes it far easier to dodge attacks and move around the map, especially as a squishy class like Sorcerer.
As for Chain Lightning, it is super strong at the moment. Once you use it, you’ll see what I mean.
And finally, Teleport is great for positioning and traversing the map. Like the Barbarians’ leap skill, you can use this offensively or to get to places faster. Also, the enhanced version reduces the CD for every enemy hit and can later reduce damage taken by 30%, making it an excellent defensive spell.
Here is the full skill build for level 25 Sorcerers:
- Arc Lash
- Enhanced Arc Lash
- Chain Lightning
- Enhanced Chain Lightning
- Flickering Arc Lash
- Destructive Chain Lightning
- Teleport
- Enhanced Teleport
- Shimmering Teleport
- Chain Lightning
- Chain Lightning
- Lightning Spear
- Enhanced Lightning Spear
- Summoned Lightning Spear
- Chain Lightning
- Chain Lightning
- Static Discharge
- Invigorating Conduit
- Invigorating Conduit
- Invigorating Conduit
- Static Discharge
- Static Discharge
- Elemental Attunement
- Unstable Currents
The crux of this Sorcerer build is based on two things. One, Chain Lightning, and two, Crackling Energy.
Chain Lightning is your damage spell which you will spam as long as you have the mana for it.
Crackling Energy is a small globe that is dropped randomly from certain spells. Initially, all it does is do damage to enemies around you. However, once you get to Invigorating Conduit, you start gaining mana for every Crackling Energy you pick up.
Not only does this increase your DPS passively, but it also allows you to spam more spells—a win-win.
Most of your other spells will focus on getting you more Crackling Energy.
Why Shimmering Teleport instead of Mystical Teleport? Well, I value having the 30% damage reduction over the increased AOE damage from Crackling Energy. Chain Lightning will handle your damage needs.
This build is incomplete because it is just the beta, and you can’t get some of the best skills. However, this Sorcerer build is the strongest I’ve found.
Best Weapons for Sorcerer
For this specific Chain Lightning Sorcerer build, I would say that the best weapons and gear for any Sorcerer would be anything that buffs lightning damage.
That being said, for the most part, you’ll spend your time leveling and finding new gear all the time.
Just find any weapon or gear that has the green plus and equip that. It’s a bit early to be making builds considering the full release will go up to level 100.
And that’s it for the best Sorcerer build in Diablo 4. I’ll likely change this guide as time passes and more builds are tested.

I played this build completing Act and most events/dungeons…Maybe 3 deaths. It was very fun to play and most devastating Thanks for posting in made my time spent with D4 trouble free after a bad Rogue experience.
thank you! glad it worked out for you
Oh, I did want to add, I also picked up Hydra, a fire based skill…It complemented this build fairly well.
Hydra is super good too!
