In its six years of existence, Dead By Daylights brought together killers of all kinds. At this stage of the game, it could be said that there is a killer for all tastes. But, if there was something the game was missing, it was more killers that attack from a distance. That’s why Behaviour Interactive decided to accompany The Huntress, Plague, and Deathslinger with the game’s most eccentric killer: our favorite K-pop singer, The Trickster.
Since his release in 2021, Trickster was considered one of the weakest killers in the game. His constant comparison to The Huntress didn’t help him, as the veteran ax-thrower outclassed him in every way. This changed a few months later, as Behaviour gave the Korean singer a huge buff. And now, he is more dangerous than ever.
This article will be going over the best build for the Trickster in Dead by Daylight, and a guide on how to play the Trickster.

The Trickster’s power: Showstopper
The Trickster starts the trial with 44 knives. These knives can be quickly thrown toward the survivors to fill their laceration bar. When we hit five knives, the killer will be warned and the bar will turn red. This warns us that in the next knife, the survivor will take damage. When The Trickster runs out of knives, he can reload them in any locker as many times as he wants.
The second part of his ability is Main Event. When The Trickster hits a good amount of knives, this skill can be used. While this ability is active, The Trickster will start throwing knives non-stop at an enormous speed. When Main Event is over, The Trickster will have the same amount of knives he had before activating it.
Tips For Using The Trickster
Like the Huntress, The Trickster is slower than the rest of the killers. So, he will only be a little faster than the survivors. This is because his main means of doing damage are his knives, which he must use intelligently.
The key to using knives efficiently is knowing when to use them. Survivors can dodge them if they are surrounded by high walls or many obstacles. But, there are things they sometimes cannot avoid. There are two key moments to use knives. The first is in open spaces: when a survivor moves from one loop to another and is forced to just run forward. We can do enormous damage and even knock them down, although we won’t always be so lucky. The second key moment is when the survivors are stuck in an animation. When they are vaulting, throwing a pallet, or saving another survivor, a small animation will run. This is our key moment to attack the survivor, as they will receive a large number of knives and can do nothing to stop it.
Best Builds For The Trickster
Best Build for the Trickster
This build is the absolute best build for the Trickster right now. Here are the perks you need:
We trust that for this build you have some experience and you don’t mind reaching the late game with some survivors alive. As you will be able to stop them easily when they try to activate the doors. As we will see also in other builds, Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying are great choices for the Trickster. Unlike other killers, Pop Goes the Weasel is not the most viable option. Since we waste too much time opening lockers, we don’t want to waste more time hitting generators. That’s why we should protect our Ruin as long as possible. And, what better option to do so than using Undying.
Meanwhile, Tinkerer is one of the best perks in the game. And The Trickster knows how to take advantage of it. Being a slower killer than the rest, you need this perk to get close to the survivors and give them a basic hit without them seeing you. When you have hooked everyone once, No Way Out will be very useful to eliminate the survivors who have survived.
Beginner build for the Trickster
This build is very similar to the previous one. But, with a few small tweaks that will change the gameplay of The Trickster. Hex: Ruin and Undying are still the best choices for him, as it is the best option we have to take care of those generators.
But unlike the traditional build, we may not have the confidence to try to kill survivors in the late game. For this reason, this build is focused on having more control of the map and being able to control those generators. Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance is a great perk for The Trickster, as it not only greatly reduces the progress of one of the generators, but also reveals the survivors working on it. Since this build is intended for more inexperienced players, perhaps always hooking survivors on Scourge Hooks is not the easiest thing to do. To solve this we will also use Agitation. Which will allow us to always try to find a Scourge Hook to exploit the potential of our build.
Free Build
This build is basically composed of the natural perks of The Trickster and Bitter Murmur since they are the perks that this killer benefits the most. No Way Out is an excellent perk for all killers. As it will allow you to reach the late game with a good chance of winning and will catch several survivors off guard. Hex: Crowd Control is another very useful perk for Trickster, as it takes the survivors away from the loops and forces them to look for a new camp, exposing them to The Trickster’s knives in the process.
On the other hand, Starstruck gives you a good alternative to be respected when carrying a survivor, which is sometimes a problem for some killers. Finally, the fourth perk is Bitter Murmur, which will give The Trickster the only thing he lacks in this build: Aura Reading.
Best Add-ons for The Trickster
Iridescent Photocard
Not much to say, the possibility of being able to put a survivor in the Dying State with just four knives makes The Trickster an incredibly powerful killer. It’s true that to take them down we have to give them a basic hit, but the amount of knives we’ll save in this process simply gives him a huge advantage when looking for a new survivor immediately after we’ve taken one down.
Caged Heart Shoes
This add-on isn’t as controversial or as powerful as the previous one, but it’s undoubtedly one of The Trickster’s best. The speed that this killer acquires while throwing knives allows you to do it without stopping and not lose survivors in the process, which sooner or later will happen without this add-on.
Best map for The Trickster
Because of the nature of your knives, any map that is closed or has many rooms is a bad choice for The Trickster. Because of the dimensions of this map, the open space, and the vision we have, the K-pop singer has a better chance of getting a 4k on the Dead Dawg Saloon, The Deathslinger’s map.
