Blasphemous Blade Build

Elden Ring is a pretty challenging game in itself, but not being able to heal over time makes things worse. For most players, the self-healing ability is the only thing missing from the game. What if I tell you that there’s a sword strong enough to kill the toughest boss in the game, and that can heal you in the process? Sounds like it would make things a bit easy for you, right?

The Blasphemous Blade is the perfect endgame weapon, especially for all the Faith-based characters. Moreover, the Greatsword’s Weapon Art is so powerful that it can even knock out Malenia

Moreover, you can further polish the broken Greatsword to prepare for your battle with the Elden Beast. So, if you are looking for a weapon that can make Elden Ring feel like a piece of cake, the Blasphemous Blade is exactly what you are looking for. This article covers all the information required to create the perfect Blasphemous Blade build in Elden Ring near the endgame phase.

What is The Blasphemous Blade

Blasphemous Blade

Requirements:

  • Strength: 22
  • Dexterity: 15
  • Faith: 21

Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Dexterity: D
  • Faith: D

Ability:

  • Taker’s Flames

The Blasphemous Blade is the signature weapon of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. He has taken numerous lives with this sword, and their blood became a part of the family. It has always been among the most wished-for weapons in Elden Ring. A powerful Greatsword inflicts your enemies with fire damage and heals your HP in the process.

The sword is usually prescribed for the Faith characters, but feel free to experiment with it on other character styles. Moreover, it is one of the few weapons to grant healing ability. So, it would be best to combine it with other gear to boost your healing and inflict more damage on your opponents.

Secondly, the real deal is the sword’s Weapon Art, the Taker’s Flame. Initially, it was a skill so strong that even the toughest bosses in the game were afraid of it. The skill was also the worst nightmare for most players in the Elden Ring Online community. So, FromSoftware Inc decided to nerf it a bit in the recent 1.03 patch.

Even after the major nerf, the Taker’s Flame is still counted among the most overpowered Weapon Arts in the game. When you activate the unique skill, the sword engulfs your opponent with fire; this flame takes away their health and deposits it in your HP bar. So, if you are looking for a heavy Greatsword to take down all the bosses in the game, I suggest that you try the Blasphemous Blade; it’s worth it.

Blasphemous Blade Build Guide

Blasphemous Blade Build - Faith Character

If you are looking to create the perfect Blasphemous Blade build in Elden Ring, you must prepare for it right from the start. Firstly, you must choose a Faith-oriented character from the selection menu. Next, you must gradually invest the Rune level points in Vigor, Strength, Faith, Mind, Dexterity, and Endurance. How many points to deposit will be discussed in a while. Fortunately, the blade is an endgame weapon. You will have plenty of time to collect and invest the level points in various stats.

Moreover, you must also focus on the required gear for the build. You will find the essential items from different phases of the storyline. So, all you need to do is create a list of all the things you must collect.

Stats

First things first, you must fulfill the minimum requirements to wield the Blasphemous Blade. It is a weapon that depends on Faith, Dexterity, and Strength. Moreover, the minimum requirements are a bit high for any character class. So, you must ensure that you have the required stats by the time you get hold of this mighty Greatsword. For instance, you must have at least 22 points in Strength, 15 points in Dexterity, and 21 points in Faith. The requirements are a bit high compared to other Legendary weapons, but the end results make it worth the trouble.

Secondly, the Blasphemous Blade scales equally with Strength, Faith, and Dexterity. However, Strength and Dexterity only affect the physical damage and unlock a few special attacks. On the other hand, the Faith attribute governs how much damage the Taker’s Flame inflicts and the amount of HP it deposits in your bar. So, you must prioritize the Faith stat till it reaches the first soft cap, i.e., level 50. Similarly, you must also invest a few points in Vigor, Endurance, and Mind.

The Vigor will ensure you have plenty of room for the extra HP. Endurance increases your stamina for heavy attacks, and Mind grants FP. The more FP you have, the more frequently you can use the Taker’s Flame.

Here are the prescribed stats for a level 100 character for the Blasphemous Blade build in Elden Ring:

  • Arcane: 10
  • Dexterity: 20
  • Endurance: 14
  • Faith: 50
  • Intelligence: 10
  • Mind: 20
  • Strength: 25
  • Vigor: 30

Initially, the Blasphemous Blade offers D class scaling with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith. However, the scaling pattern changes as you upgrade the sword using the Somber Smithing Stones. At the +10 upgrade level, the sword offers C class scaling for Strength and Dexterity and B class scaling for Faith.

Weapons:

There are two ways to use the Blasphemous Blade. Firstly, if you prefer a defensive approach, you can combine it with any medium shield with healing ability and fire resistance. You can also use a shield that grants resistance against piercing and buffs the attacker with various buildups like the Scarlet Rot. However, the build relies on rolling and dodging the attacks, so make sure that your chosen shield doesn’t get in the way.

Secondly, if you prefer to dual wield the sword, you must combine it with another Greatsword. In my opinion, you must choose between the +25 Scared Iron Greatsword and the +25 Gargoyle’s Flame Art Greatsword. Both these swords are excellent choices to use in your combo attacks. Moreover, the secondary weapons will balance out the healing and attacking speed. However, if you prefer a more deadly weapon, then you can experiment with other swords, Greatswords, and Katanas. You will have plenty of time before you face the final boss, so feel free to experiment on your own till something hits the spot.

Armor:

Here comes the tricky part, there is no prescribed armor set to use with the Blasphemous Blade build. The main reason is that your attacking and healing patterns greatly depend on your playing style. However, it is a Greatsword build, so you must go for a heavy armor that resists piercing, doesn’t slow you down much, and is reliable enough to take a few blows. In my opinion, instead of going for a complete armor set, you must combine the perfect items from various sources.

For example, you can use the Raptor’s Black Feathers as your main chest armor. The Tree Sentinel Helm seems like the perfect choice for your head protection as it protects your head by applying various defensive properties. Lastly, you can use all other parts of the Tree Sentinel armor set as it is visually appealing and goes well with any Faith-based build. However, if you don’t like the woody look, you can always try out other options according to your taste. Blaidd’s armor set is another option, especially if you are planning to face the Elden Beast in your next battle.

Talismans

No Elden Ring Build is complete without a few talismans in your inventory. These special items grant you abilities and boosts that can turn the tide of any battle in your favor. For this build, I suggest that you equip at least the following three talismans. However, if you feel confident enough, you can always experiment with other options:

  • The Shard of Alexander: The Shard of Alexander is a special talisman that boosts the effect of any Weapon Art. It is an obvious choice for the build, as the Taker’s Flame is a bit slow without any charms. So, this talisman reduces the animation and charging times so that you can use the Weapon Art without taking any damage.
  • Carian Filigreed Crest: The Weapons Art of the Blasphemous Blade is the main reason for its popularity. So, you must do everything to use it as many times as possible. However, each time you activate the skill, a few FP is consumed in the process. So, using the Carian Filigreed Crest reduces the FP cost of all Weapon Arts. Combine it with a high Mind attribute, and you get an unlimited supply of the Taker’s Flame.
  • Fire Scorpion Charm: Last but not least, the Blasphemous Blade isn’t all about healing yourself. The amount of HP restored depends on the amount of damage inflicted on your foes. So, the Fire Scorpion Charm increases the damage output of all fire attacks, making it the perfect companion for this build.

Misc Items

You have already completed the perfect Blasphemous Blade build if you have followed this guide till now. However, there’s always room for polishing and tuning the character according to your style. In this regard, you must make use of the sacred seals, consumable flasks, and magic spells from time to time. In my opinion, all items that boost fire damage are great for this build. However, sometimes the enemy doesn’t let you attack to heal yourself. So, you must rely on the conventional consumable method for quick healing. Therefore, you must equip the following items in your tool slots:

  • Flask of Crimson Tears +8
  • Flask of Cerulean Tears +4
  • Flask of Wondrous Physick +1

Similarly, the Flame, Grant Me Strength spell increases your overall attributes for a few seconds. Combining it with the abilities of the Blasphemous Blade can prove fruitful in any battle. Furthermore, the spell also boosts the damage output of the Taker’s Flame. So, you will receive +4 HP if you hit the enemy and +40 if you kill one. In any case, it is best to rely on your taste and playing style when choosing the gear and spells for the Blasphemous Blade build.
