Puzzle 1: Destroy Small Balls
The first Merlin Trial in Cragcroftshire requires extensive knowledge of navigating the plains. The goal of this challenge is to locate 9 small stone orbs placed on pillars and destroy them with either Confringo or Incendio spells.
However, the balls are tiny and hard to spot unless you know their exact locations. You can locate this Merlin Trial east of the Cragcroftshire South Coast Bandit Camp, as shown in the picture:
Start the Merlin Trial by using the Mallowsweet Leaves on the Merlin stone. Next, head to the lake shore in the south to find the first three stone balls.
Aim at the stones and destroy them with a Confringo spell.
The next three stone balls can be found right across the previous ones. Finally, the last three stone balls are on the cliff north of the Merlin stone.
Puzzle 2: Platform Challenge
The second Merlin Trial is as simple as it can get in Hogwarts Legacy. All you need to do is to find the stone platforms and complete the parkour course to complete the challenge.
However, falling from a platform or touching the ground (or water in this case) will result in failure, and you must restart the course.
You can find this Merlin Trial in the corner of the map, east of the Landing Platform in the southeast Cragcroft region, as shown in the picture:
Start the Merlin Trial and look towards the water to find the platforms behind the small cliff. Alternatively, the Revelio spell can reveal the stone platforms near the Merlin stone.
Next, jump on the first platform to start the course. After the first platform, you must keep running between jumps to maintain momentum. Otherwise, you will fail to reach the next platform and fall into the water.
The challenge will complete after you jump on all six platforms in your way.
Puzzle 3: Lighting the Braziers
The next Merlin Trial in the Cragcroftshire region is a tricky one. You must find the three braziers near the Merlin stone and ignite them without letting even one descend into the water pond.
In other words, the time you complete the challenge depends on the order in which you ignite the torches. You can find this Merlin Trial northeast from the Cragcroftshire region, as shown in the picture:
After starting the Trial, use the Revelio spell to locate all three braziers near the stone. The first brazier is beside the path, north of the Merlin stone. To ignite the brazier, aim at it and use the Confringo spell.
The next brazier is on the other side of the road near the shops in the south. Finally, the last brazier is behind the second one at some distance.
However, you can ignite it by aiming at it while standing beside the second torch. Once you ignite all three torches, the Merlin Trial will commence.
Puzzle 4: Moonlight Challenge
The next Merlin Trial will change your perspective on these challenges. The goal is simple, find three clusters of Lacewing Flies and guide them to the Moonlight pillars to activate them. However, the clusters of flies are very far from each other, and you must explore the whole area to find them.
You can find this challenge at the bottom of the hill, west of the Cragcroftshire region, near the Spider Lair, as shown in the picture:
Start the Merlin Trial and cast the Revelio spell to reveal all three Moonlight stone pillars. They aren’t very hard to spot if you use this strategy.
Next, head east from the Merlin stone to find the first cluster of flies near the stone wall. Approach the flies and cast Lumos to catch them, then move to the first Moonlight pillar to activate it.
The next cluster of flies is in the east, below the stairs near the wooden cart. Finally, the last cluster of flies can be found in the southwest from the Merlin stone, nearby the Moonlight pillar.
Puzzle 5: Destroy Stone Pillars
The last Merlin Trial in the Cragcroftshire region is a pretty basic one. To complete this challenge, you must find and destroy 5 stone pillars near the Merlin stone.
You can reach this Merlin Trial by traveling southeast from the Floo Flame Cragroft Shore fast travel point, as shown in the picture:
After starting the challenge with Mallowsweet Leaves, use the Revelio spell to locate all 5 stone pillars. The first pillar is on top of the hill, west of the Merlin stone.
Aim at the pillar and destroy it with the Confringo spell.
The next stone pillar is hidden behind the wooden door, north of the stone. First, destroy the door with Confringo, head inside the structure, and look up to find the next stone pillar.
The third stone pillar is in the northeast of the stone, and the fourth is inside the ruins beside the stone. Finally, the last stone pillar can be found by looking through the window west of the ruins.
