What is Bone Fragment in Stardew Valley?

Farm Bone Fragments Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley has different kinds of resources that you can find and collect. From the weirdest to the rarest, the game has it for you. One of which is the Bone Fragment. Although none of the villagers like to receive this as a gift, as it is hilarious to receive it wrapped with a ribbon, it will still be useful for you as the time comes.

These kinds of resources are not easily collected by foraging in the forest. Instead, you have to go to different places and explore one of the most dangerous sites in Stardew Valley. Even though this seems like trash at first, you might actually be needing them, especially in crafting essential equipment for your farm.

That being said, it is vital for you to know how to farm bone fragments as you go through the whole valley.

How to Farm Bone Fragments

Farming Bone Fragment

When talking about bone fragment, the first thing that comes to mind is the skeleton. Similarly in this game, the primary way of collecting bone fragments is through the skeletons. In pursuit of collecting enough bone fragments, you have to showcase your combat skills once again and defeat as many skeleton monsters as you need.

Aside from this, there are also other ways that you can try to have bone fragments in your inventory. Having said that, below is a detailed explanation of other areas and ways that you can try to get bone fragments.

The Mines

Skeletons inside The Mines

The number one source of bone fragments, skeletons, dwell on the upper levels of The Mines. All players already know how dangerous it is to walk way up to levels 71 to 79. However, doing this has the highest chance of dropping and grinding the bone fragments that you need. Fighting skeletons is actually pretty easy as they only have low base HP. But facing several of them on each level still requires you to bring any healing item.

Easily reach this floor by taking the elevator to floor 70. If you plan to grind the bone fragments dropped by the skeletons, you can defeat all of them from level 71 to 79, then start again at level 71. This might be tiresome but the amount of bone fragments that you can get will be worth it.

Volcano Dungeon

Volcano Dungeon Lava Lurks

The Mines are not the only dangerous area that you will be exploring to collect bone fragments. Exploring the Volcano Dungeon also helps.

Upon arriving, you will be welcomed with a stream of lava that blocks you from entering. Along these lava streams inhabitants are the Lava Lurks. These are serpent-looking enemies that pop out of the lava and spit fire on the player. Killing each has a 20% to 50% chance of getting bone fragment drops.

Artifact Spots

Ginger Island Artifact Spots

If you have already seen a tile with random worms, stems, and twigs on the same tile, stop, get your hoe, and dig it up. These artifact spots also have a 20% chance of giving you two to five bone fragments. Note that will only be eligible for getting bone fragment drops if you have already completed Gunther’s Special Order called Fragments of the Past.

For bone fragments, the only artifact spots that you would want to check are those on the Island North of Ginger Island. To increase the chance of getting a drop, make sure that you have good luck on that day. Plus, you would also want to do this once you have a high mining level.

Ginger Island Dig Site

Still into digging galore! The Island North of GInger Island has a Dig Site. Here, you can find different sources of some essential resources. Some of which are bone nodes. Upon opening this node, you will receive bone fragments, while still having a chance of getting other fossil and prehistoric parts.

Tips for Farming Bone Fragments

Among all the methods of obtaining bone fragments, two of them require you to fight different enemies in order to get those bone fragments. This means that danger is always in front of you. But there are a few things that you can do to dodge the risk of passing out and losing everything you worked hard for.

The first thing that you should have is the best combat skills. You have different options in choosing the combination of your combat skills. However, the two best that we recommend you to have a well-balanced stat or to be an overkill. You can check out this guide about the combat professions.

One more thing that you have to do is to consume food buffs. Different food buffs give you different effects depending on what you need on your task.
