Fighter and Scout in Stardew Valley
You can’t decide which one to decide between a scout and a fighter? Well, here’s the ultimate guide on how you can pick between the two combat skills in Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley is about running the farm of your late grandfather which involves farming, fishing, and crafting materials. You might think that this comfort game is peaceful and relaxing, but you may not know that it is also action-packed.
To enjoy your combat experience in Stardew Valley, you will be eventually asked to choose between two professions as you level up your combat skills. These two professions are fighter and scout. This is a crucial stage for Stardew Valley players as it will affect your gameplay and your rate of progress. Even though there is a way to change your profession through the Statue of Uncertainty, you will need to spend a lot of money on it.
If you are wondering who you are going to fight in this farming game, that would be the monsters in The Mines, in the Skull Cavern, on the Wilderness Farm. These are not ordinary monsters that you can easily defeat in a few ways with your weapon – monsters on higher levels of caves are more dangerous than you think.
Having said that, you must identify what skills you are going to choose depending on your combat strategy. In this Fighter or Scout Stardew Valley article, I will tell you how to identify the most suited profession and specializations for you!
Combat Skills in Stardew Valley
Aside from being good at farming, your player must also know how to be good in combat. In doing so, you must level up your combat skills by earning additional combat skills experience points after successfully defeating an enemy. Unlike other Stardew Valley skills, you won’t earn proficiency by slaying a monster since using your weapon won’t cost your energy. Instead, every increase in your combat level will grant you additional 5 health points.
Along with the additional health points per level, here are some other rewards you can receive in every level upgrade:
Level 1: Sturdy Ring, Bug Steak
Level 2: Life Elixir
Level 3: Roots Platter
Level 4: Warrior Ring
Level 6: Slime Egg-Press, Oil Garlic
Level 7: Ring of Yoba, Thorns Ring
Level 8: Slime Incubator, Explosive Ammo
Level 9: Iridium Band, Squid Ink Ravioli
Instead of crafting recipes like the other levels, you will have to choose one of two professions under your combat skills at levels 5 and 10. These two professions are the fighter and the scout.
Fighter Profession
Choosing the fighter profession grants you a 10% buff to all your attacks dealt on the enemy. Plus, an additional 15 health points. This revamp actually gives you an advantage both on the defensive and the offensive side. It may sound small, but a 15-health point improvement is still significant, especially if you are already on the battlefield.
Now, if you think that these additional attributes are already great, you better check out the offered choices as you reach the maximum levels. If you choose the fighter profession, you will have to choose once again between two specializations, namely the brute and the defender.
Brute
If we talk about the greatest damage buff, the brute choice is by far the best one. Upon choosing this, you will receive an additional 15% damage increase. The good thing about this is that it stacks with the previous attribute that you received on level 5 – giving you a total of 25% damage increase.
Defender
On the other hand, the defender specialization grants you an additional 25 health points. Take note that it is an additional health point and not an additional health percentage. But the good thing about this is that, just like in brute, it also stacks with the attribute from level 5. All in all, you will have an additional 40 health points on your base hp upon reaching the max level and choosing this track.
Scout Profession
Now if you want a more RNG type of profession, you should check out and pick the scout profession. Choosing the scout profession grants you an increased chance of landing a critical strike by 50%. However, this does not give you a 50% chance to critically hit; it simply improves your current critical hit chance by 50%. Plus, no additional hp bonus is also not included in this buff.
But don’t get discouraged in choosing this. The scout profession actually comes with two more amazing choices upon reaching the max level of your combat skills.
Acrobat
As you max up the level of your combat skill, the acrobat will be one of the choices if you happen to pick the scout profession. In choosing this, the cooldown of your special moves will be reduced by 50%. If you are the type of fighter who usually use special moves in combat, then the acrobat will be the best choice for you.
Desperado
On the other hand, the desperado choice puts you on the upper hand as your critical strike damages are doubled. Having said that, there is a great possibility that you can take down an enemy in a single attack. The only fallback of this choice is that there is no hp buff included. But who needs additional health points when you can defeat your enemies in one blow?
Fighter vs. Scout: Which is Better?
That’s our guide on choosing either Fighter or Scout Stardew Valley. In deciding to choose on which profession you should pick for your combat skills, the first thing you should consider is your combat style – whether you like to overpower the enemies or you want to fight head-to-head with them. The next one would be the strengths and weaknesses of each profession and specialization.
Generally speaking, the fighter profession with a brute specialization is the best and most picked by the players. Not only that it deals great flat damage to the enemy, but it is actually the most well-balanced thing among the choices. Additionally, it grants you additional health points, making you a tanky offense.
While if you prefer fast-paced fights, you should choose the scout together with the desperado specialization. This choice combination allows you to be overkill.
