There is a total of 11 island fossils hidden under the rich soil of the island. You have to complete them since they are considered an important collection on this island.

Professor Snail

Upon unlocking and exploring Ginger Island, you will also be able to meet new characters that can be your friends and will give you random requests in the form of quests. One of the new characters that you will meet on this island is Professor Snail. He lives on Ginger Island and stays in his Field Office where you can donate items in exchange for the luxurious Golden Walnuts.

However, you will have to unlock the Island Field Office first before you meet Professor Snail to introduce you to the island fossils. But first, let us give a quick explanation of how to unlock Ginger Island for the sake of our new players.

How to Unlock Ginger Island

The Community Center bundles are the most important thing that you have to consider in this vision of going to Ginger Island. You must first complete all the bundles that you can find in the Community Center. If you are not the type of person who enjoys challenges, you can just purchase a JojaMart membership to unlock all the upgrades in the warehouse instead of doing the bundles.

Willy's Boat

After the Community Center bundles are completed and finished, you have to repair Willy’s boat located in the backroom. Once you successfully repair it, you can use this boat to get to Ginger Island by paying Willy 1,000 gold per trip.

When you finally land on Ginger Island, simply head north until you see a tent. Walk to the left and you will see a small river that you cannot cross because of the broken bridge.

Repair the Bridge

You have to repair this broken bridge by paying 10 Golden Walnuts to the parrot beside it. Then, voila! Just like magic, the bridge will be repaired like a newly built one. Then, enter the dig site area by using either a bomb or an exploding ammo to remove the boulder in front of the cave. By doing this, you will free Professor Snail.

This time, when Professor Snail has been freed, he will talk to you about the Island Field Office and the donations you can give.

How to Get a Bomb or Exploding Ammo

Crafting a Bomb

A bomb is an item that you can only use once to make an explosion damage within its radius. To obtain its crafting recipe, you have to reach Mining Level 6., and make it with 4x Iron Ores, and 1x Coal.  Without the crafting recipe or materials, you can buy it from the Dwarf instead.

Obtaining an Explosive Ammo

On the other hand, an Explosive Ammo can be fired by using it with a slingshot. You will be able to get the crafting recipe by reaching your Combat Level 8. Make an Explosive Ammo with 1x Iron Bar and 2x Coal.

Snake Fossil Locations

Snake Fossils

To complete all Snake Fossils, there are three parts that you have to find around Ginger Island. The three parts are the two Snake Vertebrae and one Snake Skull.

You can find the Snake Skull by going to the western side of the island. Move next to the body of water. It can be the ocean, the river, or ponds. You have to look for bubbling spots on the water and cast your line to it. Another area you can try is the artifact spots on the western Ginger Island and Dig Site area.

For the two Snake Vertebrae, can find both parts by digging the Artifact Spots on the western Ginger Island.

Completing this will reward you 3x Golden Walnuts and 1x Mango Sapling.

Large Mammal Fossil Locations

Large Mammal Fossil

The next set of fossils you have to complete is the large mammal fossil which is comprised of six different parts. The parts you have to look for are the skull, ribs, spine, tail, and two legs.

Bone geode

Starting with the two fossilized legs, you have to walk over to the island’s dig site and open bone nodes. Doing this will grant you a lot of bone fragments, but it also has a chance of dropping the fossilized legs.

Next up would be the fossilized ribs that you can also find by opening bone nodes. Other than this, also check the Artifact Spots located on the southern island.

The fossilized spine, on the other hand, can be found by fishing on the river by the digging site. You can also dig up the Artifact Spots on the southern part of the island.

Use the copper pan given by Willy and use it to pan in the dig site river to obtain the fossilized tail.  Lastly, you can get the fossilized skull by opening Golden Coconuts.

By completing this fossil set, you will obtain 6x Golden Walnuts and 1x Banana Sapling.

Mummified Frog Location

Mummified frog

Unlike the previous fossils, you will only need to look for one fossil piece for the mummified frog as it all comes in one whole piece. In fact, this is one of the easiest fossils to find.

All you have to do is head over to the jungle area and cut some weeds using a sword or a scythe. In case you haven’t found the mummified frog, wait until the weeds have grown back and cut them again.

Finding this fossil will grant you 1x Golden Walnut.

Mummified Bat Location

Mummified bat

The mummified bat is another one that’s easy to complete as it also comes in one whole piece

Volcano Dungeon

For this, you have to go all the way to the Volcano Dungeon and break some rocks. Although you will only look for one fossil piece, finding this inside the rocks ain’t easy. Doing this has only a 0.5% chance of dropping a mummified bat.

You can use a strong pickaxe to do this. However, you can also use some explosives to remove clumps of rocks. This will grant you 1x Golden Walnut.

Rewards for Completing the Island Fossils

Ostrich Incubator

After you complete all the Ginger Island fossils, you will be rewarded with an Ostrich Incubator. You can use this to hatch ostrich eggs to shelter in your barn.

Crafting this will require 50 Bone Fragments, 50 Hardwood, and 20 Cinder Shards.
