How to Get Flint Ark

If you are an Ark fan then you already know that even the basic items play an important role in your journey. The basic items are quite easy to obtain but they consume a lot of time when needed in large quantities. But there are always some other ways to obtain them quickly.

Flint is one of the basic and most useful items in Ark. We have a few different ways of obtaining it. Some beginners might not know all of them. That is why our today’s guide will cover all the possible ways that will show How to Get Flint Ark.

Generally, you can either try some tools or creatures to harvest it. Although, each method has a different efficiency. Some creatures are slow at harvesting Flint whereas others are quick. The same goes for tools

Ways to Get Flint in Ark

Flint being a basic item is a lot easy to get obtain. Although, you can try several ways to get it in large quantities without doing much effort. It is obtained by striking the tools on rocks. Alternatively, creatures can also attack the rocks to collect Flint.

The most basic way of gathering Flint is by using some tools that can be accessed at the beginning of the game. As you make progress these tools can be upgraded to increase the harvesting speed. Moreover, we have some creatures that assist us in collecting Flint.

Using Tools to Harvest Flint

We have two different tools that we are going to use for Flint. One of them is a basic tool for beginners whereas the other one is an advanced machine that can only be obtained at higher levels.

Let’s have a look at them.

Stone Pick & Metal Pick

Stone Pick & Metal Pick

The most basic item that can get you Flint is a Pick. It has two versions. The first one can be crafted in the early game using a few basic items. This has the lowest efficiency and is not that durable.

Here is what you will need to craft the Stone Pick.

  • 1x Stone
  • 1x Wood
  • 10x Thatch

These ingredients are the most basic ones and can be picked from the ground. Once collected, get into the crafting menu and craft the Stone Pick.

The second one is Metal Pick. It’s an upgraded version of Stone Pick and is more durable. Also, it has high efficiency than Stone Pick. So, you will be getting more Flint in a single hit. I would suggest you craft Metal Pick due to its excellent durability and harvesting rate.

These are the ingredients that you will need to craft Metal Pick.

  • 1x Metal Ingot
  • 1x Wood
  • 10x Hide

With these ingredients, you can craft 1x Metal Pick in Smithy.

Now, you have the tool to harvest Flint. With this tool equipped in your inventory, you will need to hit the rocks. As soon as you hit them you will be collecting the Flint in your inventory.

Excavation Rig

Excavation Rig

The Excavation Rig is another tool used for harvesting Flint. It is an extremely advanced tool but has not much efficiency as compared to Metal Pick. Although, you can give it a try as well.

With this tool, you can harvest some other items as well. This includes Metal, Thatch, Seeds, Element Dust, Oil, and a few others.

Excavation Rig can be obtained from Tek Stryders. These are the robotic creatures in Ark that can be tamed. They are non-aggressive hence you can tame them easily.

Using Creatures to Harvest Flint

Besides using tools, a few different creatures can also be used to assist you in harvesting Flint. These creatures are capable of collecting a lot of Flint in a single attack.

Here are the creatures that you can have in Ark.

Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus

This is the first and the most efficient creature on our list. This creature is commonly known for gathering a lot of different resources. But in our case, it can easily gather Flint for us.

However, when you tame one of these creatures, you can use it for other resources such as Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Berries, Thatch, and others.

It is the only creature in Ark that has the highest efficiency in collecting Flint. These are slow creatures so they are easy to knock down. Bolas can be used to make them immobilize and then attack with any weapon for a knockdown blow. Afterward, you can feed them to tame.

Mantis

Mantis

When it comes to harvesting Flint, Mantis is a tough competitor to Ankylosaurus. It has almost the same efficiency as Anky. Collects the Flint at the fastest possible speed.

Keeping a Mantis in your team will give you an advantage, you can use it to gather dozens of other useful resources as well with even higher efficiency. These include Mutagel, Thatch, Silicate, Crystal, Sand, Hide, Wood, Stone, Sulfur, and others.

Coming to the taming difficulty of Mantis. This creature does not need to be knocked down for a tame. You can offer it the taming food and it will get tamed. But, a bug repellent is required so that you can get close enough to it. Otherwise, it will become aggressive and attack back.

Phoenix

This is the third creature on our list. It is quite good at collecting Flint. The creature itself is a mighty firebird that has so much attraction. You can use it as your flyer and a helper for collecting various resources including the Flint.

The only negative side here is that Phoenix can only be owned if you are playing on the Scorched Earth map. On this map, it spawns during an event of Heat Wave Weather. At this time you can capture it for yourself.

Doedicurus

How to Get Flint Ark - Doedicurus

Doedicurus is the last creature on our list. It has the least efficiency among all four creatures. This one is on our list because it has the ability to assist in harvesting Flint.

These creatures are super defensive. They take relatively less damage compared to other creatures because they roll themselves up in their protective shell. You will need to use a weapon that can do high damage in order to knock them.

Using Industrial Grinder to Craft Flint

How to Get Flint Ark - Industrial Grinder

Yes, the Flint can even be crafted in the Industrial Grinder. And it’s actually a pretty easy and less complicated method of obtaining Flint in Ark.

You only need to have Industrial Grinder with you. Once you have that constructed at your base, you can use 2x Stones to get 1x Flint. This way you can have as much Flint as you need just by using Stones.

These are all three possible ways that can easily get you Flint in large quantities. All of these methods are good enough to get you Flint efficiently and quickly. Choose the method that seems easy to you.

What is the Best Way to Get Flint in Ark?

For beginners, the best way to get Flint is by using tools such as Stone Pick or Metal Pick. As soon as you level up, you can move on to taming creatures such as Ankylosaurus and level up your game of harvesting Flint.

You can continue using the tools along with the creature. This way you will collect twice the amount of Flint in half-time.

What is the Fastest Way to Farm Flint in Ark?

The fastest way to farm Flint in Ark is either using the Industrial Grinder or using the creature. Both of these methods are fast and efficient enough to get you as much Flint as you want.

However, Industrial Grinder will require you to hit higher levels so that you can craft its structure at your base.

What Dino is Good for Flint?

The one that has the highest efficiency is best for Flint harvesting. And we have two dinos that have the almost same efficiency. These two are Ankylosaurus and Mantis. You can tame any one of these creatures. Or you can also have both of these.

Both of them are easy to capture and will help you a lot in getting Flint.

This is everything we wanted to discuss about How to Get Flint Ark. You see, we have three different ways of obtaining it. The first one is based on using tools, the second one includes creatures, and lastly using Industrial Grinder to craft Flint at your base.

All of these methods are reliable and get you enough Flint that you need. Hopefully, this has helped you the way you wanted to solve your queries.
