How to Get Polymer Ark

Ark fans know that their journey comes to a halt when they are unable to find the required items. The world of Ark has so many different items that are essential to craft weapons, tools, armor, and other miscellaneous items.

Similarly, Polymer is a unique item in Ark. It is required for different items such as tools, saddles, electric devices, and others. Most importantly, it is the main ingredient for some advanced weapons. So, our guide How to Get Polymer in Ark is going to tell you the best ways to obtain Polymer.

Usually, Polymer can be crafted in a Fabricator. But you can also obtain its Organic version from various creatures. However, crafting is the best strategy to obtain Polymer. Also, it is not a beginner item so you won’t be able to get it in the early game.

Ways to Get Polymer in Ark

A Polymer can be obtained in two different ways. The first way involves crafting using the ingredients. And second way includes hunting down creatures. Here we are going to discuss both ways in detail so you can get a better idea.

Crafting Polymer in Fabricator

Fabricator

We have a few different ways in Ark that can get you Polymer. The most common way of getting Polymer is by crafting it in a Fabricator. As we know that it’s not a beginner item so, you must be at least level 48 to unlock the crafting recipe for it.

Once you reach level 48 and have unlocked the recipe, you can start crafting it as much as you want. Here are the ingredients that you need to craft Polymer.

These two are the ingredients that can get you Polymer. But, both of these are rare items. Especially, the Obsidian. It can only be mined at specific locations with the help of Metal Pick, Ankylosaurus, or a few other creatures.

Hunting Creatures for Polymer

How to Get Polymer Ark - Hunting Creatures

Creatures that give Polymer is different from Regular Polymer. Killing creatures will give you a loot of Organic Polymer that can be used in place of Regular Polymer. However, this variant of Polymer has a spoil timer after which it will be of no use.

So, you have to use it before the timer runs out. Also, you can only stack up to 20 Organic Polymers. Whereas, Regular Polymer can be stacked 100.

Now, which creatures can get you Organic Polymer? These are only the specific creatures that give off Polymer. Here is the list of those creatures.

  • Kairuku
  • Hesperornis
  • Mantis
  • Karkinos

These four creatures are known to drop loot of Organic Polymer. All four of them are small creatures so you can get them down easily. Whereas, the Mantis are spawned more often near the Volcano Area in the Ragnarok map.

So, if you do play on this map that it will be quite easy for you to obtain the Organic Polymer.

These are just a few important uses of Polymer. There is a huge list of items that require Polymer or Organic Polymer in their crafting recipe. With such a huge list of items, you can get an idea of its importance.

What is the Easiest Way to Get Polymer in Ark?

As we know, there are two ways through which you can obtain Polymer. The crafting method and the loot method. The second method is the easiest one. You just have to hunt down the small creatures which have mentioned above and loot them to get the Polymer.

However, this does not gives you the Regular Polymer. Instead, you will be getting the Organic Polymer which has a downside. The Organic Polymer has a spoil timer that makes it of no use after a certain time. So, you can’t store it for a longer time. If you are planning to use it instantly then this is the best method.

The second method which involves crafting is much more reliable but requires a lot of extra effort. But, the crafting will give you the Regular Polymer that can be stored for as long as want.

What Gives the Most Polymer in Ark?

The creatures that drop Polymer don’t have a fixed amount of it. They drop a random amount of Organic Polymer. Sometimes you might get a large amount of Polymer. Whereas, other times you might not get any of it.

All in all, it is a random drop. You have to kill multiple creatures to get things going. Can’t just get all of it from one hunt. You have to look for a lot of creatures that we listed above and hunt them to down to obtain a good amount of Polymer.

What Animal Drops Polymer in Ark?

We have a total of 4 creatures in Ark that drops Polymer. It’s not a promised thing that you will get Polymer from all 4 of them. But, it is dropped randomly by these 4 creatures.

You can give it try on all 4 of these creatures. However, the Mantis is a more popular creature in Ark that spawns more often near the Volcanic area on Ragnarok map.

Here we wrap up our guide for How to Get Polymer in Ark. You see that we have discussed two methods. One of them is quite easy but is not reliable which is done by hunting down the creatures. Whereas the second one involves crafting at Fabricator but it is reliable.

If you are looking to craft something that needs Polymer in huge quantities then you should choose to craft it. Because the Polymer obtained from crafting can be stored without any fear of getting rotten. However, the Organic Polymer obtained from loot has a spoil timer.
