There are 114 Treasure Vaults in the game, and most of them are evenly scattered around the open world. Each vault contains a legendary treasure chest that rewards you with randomly generated loot. However, you must first solve various puzzles to get to these chests. So, how to solve all Treasure Vaults in Hogwarts Legacy? This article will explain everything to help you get inside every vault.
How to Open Treasure Vaults in Hogwarts Legacy?
The 114 Treasure Vaults in Hogwarts Legacy are scattered across the open world. However, you must solve the doorway puzzles to get inside these vaults. The good news is that all locations are based on one of the nine main types of puzzles.
So, if you know the puzzle-solving mechanics and have learned the important spells, you won’t find it hard to open all Treasure Vaults in Hogwarts Legacy.
- Spell Cube:
The first type of Treasure Vault puzzle is the easiest of them all. The objective of this puzzle is to locate a large stone cube near the vault’s door and use the correct spells at them. Stand at the Treasure Vault’s door and use the Revelio spell to locate the stone cube. Next, stand across the pressure plate and use Accio or Wingardium Leviosa to pull the cube on the plate. Next, inspect the cube to see the markings on it. Finally, hit the stone cube with the correct spell according to the symbol:
- Leaf: Aim at the cube and hit it with Wingardium Leviosa to unlock the vault.
- Snowflake: Hit the cube with the Glacius spell to unlock the door.
- Flame: Use the Incendio spell on the stone cube to unlock the vault.
- Destroyed Entrance:
You can easily identify this type of door puzzle if the entrance is collapsed. However, to unlock the door, you must first learn the Reparo spell by completing the Hogsmeade Village quest after defeating the troll. Next, use the Revelio spell to find the interactable debris at the vault’s doorway.
Finally, use the Reparo spell to repair the collapsed structure and enter the Treasure Vault.
- Defeat the Enemies:
Some Treasure Vaults aren’t blocked by any puzzle. However, you must defeat 2 to 3 enemies that guard the vault’s entrance. In this regard, the Confringo spell will greatly help you. Once you defeat all enemies, the vault’s door will open, and you can enter it. Note: in some cases, the vault is located in a bandit camp; clear it to gain access.
- The Lever Puzzle:
If you can’t find any puzzles or enemies at the vault’s entrance, you are probably looking at this type of door. Stand at the entrance and use the Revelio spell to locate a pressure lever near the entrance. Finally, aim at the lever and use the Accio spell to pull the switch and open the Treasure Vault.
- Blow the Vault:
You can easily identify this type of vault puzzle by inspecting its entrance. The vault’s door is blocked by a breakable wall that you can identify by the cracks in the wall. Alternatively, it is probably breakable if the Revelio spell highlights the wall.
To open the door, aim at the wall and use either the Confringo or the Bombarda spell to blow it open. The same strategy applies if you find the entrance to be blocked by wooden planks.
- Unlock the Door:
The next puzzle is even easier than all the previous ones. However, you must upgrade the Alohomora spell to level 2 or 3 to ensure that no locked door stands in your path. Finally, locate the door’s lock and use the Alohomora spell to unlock it and enter the vault.
- The Double Doors:
Sometimes, all you need to do is to push a little harder. This is exactly the case with these types of vault puzzles. You will notice that there is no lever, lock, or puzzle blocking the door.
In that case, push or pull the double door with Depulso or Accio spells to unblock the entrance and enter the vault.
- The Vines Puzzle:
The last type of vault puzzle will become obvious as soon as you look at it. In this type of puzzle, the vault’s door is blocked by growing vines. All other spells will fail to gain you a safe passage. So, aim at the vines and use the Incendio spell to burn them.
The entrance will become unblocked, and you can easily head inside. You can also use this strategy if the entrance is blocked by spiderweb.
- Whirlpool:
The last type of Treasure Vault puzzle is the simplest of them all. Usually, the entrance to such vaults is located underwater. So, look for a whirlpool in the water and approach it by swimming. You will see an option to dive as soon as you approach the whirlpool.
Dive to the other side to find the actual entrance to the vault.
How to reach the chests?
Usually, the Treasure Vault’s main door will be the only puzzle in your way. You will eventually find the treasure chest as you run along the path inside the vault. However, in some cases, another puzzle will block the chest.
So, the only way to access such chests is by solving these puzzles with the appropriate strategy.
Once you reach the chest, you can easily loot it by pressing the X button of your controller. Here is a list of all puzzles that you can encounter before reaching the treasure chests:
- Arrow Cube
- Block Handle
- Bone Totem
- Chess Puzzle
- Fan Puzzle
- Floating Brazier

- Locked Door
- Moving Floor
