Here is a guide on how to solve all Irondale Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy.
Irondale Merlin Trials:
The Irondale Hamlet is a part of the Feldcroft Region. There are three Merlin Trials in this area, and players must find and solve all of them to gain rewards and experience. However, each of these puzzles is unique, and you must have Mallowsweet Leaves to initiate them. Here’s how to solve all Merlin Trials in Irondale:
Puzzle 1: Exploding Stones
The first Merlin Trials Puzzle in the Irondale region is the Exploding Stones type. You can easily reach the site by traveling southeast from the Feldcroft Region. A detailed map of the location of the puzzle is given below:
Once you reach the puzzle site, try to locate the Merlin Trials stone, it is a unique stone with the shape of a large circle spiraling into a smaller one. After finding the stone, interact with it using Mallowsweet Leaves to initiate the puzzle. Next, use the Revelio spell to reveal the Exploding Stones. There are five different stone pillars that you must destroy to solve the puzzle. After locating a pillar, you can either use Confringo or Incendio to destroy it. After destroying all the pillars, the character will say that “Merlin himself will be proud,” and a cutscene will be triggered, i.e., a monument will appear inside the Merlin Trial stone.
Puzzle 2: Light Torches
The second Merlin Trials puzzle in the Irondale Hamlet is near the riverside. This puzzle is very different from the first one as it should be solved within the time limit. You can easily find this puzzle by traveling across the river from the Exploding Stones puzzle site.
The goal of this puzzle is to light up all three torches simultaneously to trigger the cutscene. However, the torches have different heights and will submerge in the pond if you fail to light all three of them in time. The best way to solve this puzzle is to reveal all of the torches before igniting any of them. Moreover, you must also check the height of the torches and start lighting them up in ascending order, i.e., the tallest one first.
First, initiate the puzzle by using Mallowsweet Leaves on the Merlin Trials stone. Next, use the Revelio spell to reveal the location of all three torches. The first torch is direct to the west of the puzzle stone, the second one is on the southeastern side of the river, and the last one is right across the river bridge. After finding all three torches, use the Confringo spell to light them up. The best order to ignite the torches is to start with the one on the other side of the bridge, then the one west of the stone, and finally, the one on the southeastern side.
Puzzle 3: Destroy Small Balls
The third Merlin Puzzle in the Irondale Hamlet is of the Destroy Small Balls type. The goal of this puzzle is very simple, find and destroy all 9 small balls placed on stone pillars to complete the puzzle. However, you must find the stone with great focus as they are quite small and even spread across the field in packs of three. You can reach this Merlin Trials puzzle site by going north from the stone pillars puzzle location.
After initiating the puzzle by using the Mallowsweet Leaves on the Merlin Trials stone, you must find and destroy all small balls with either Confringo or Incendio spells. The first set of balls is on the cliff across the Merlin Trials Stone. You can find them by moving straight toward the cliff and jumping above the small stone wall. The second set of balls is right under the large windmill, opposite the cliff stones. Finally, the last set of small balls is behind Althea Twiddle, sitting to the west of the windmill. After destroying all 9 small balls in any order, the monument cutscene will be triggered, completing the Merlin Trials Puzzle.
