What is PvP in Lost Ark?

PvP allows you to engage in combat against real players, and there are different game modes that you can try. Unlike PvE where you fight against enemies controlled by the game, PvP lets you fight tough opponents who are extremely skilled.

This is because PvP can not only let you acquire different rewards that are normally difficult to get but will also help you improve your game. How To Unlock PvP In Lost Ark

Unfortunately, you cannot access it at the beginning of the game as you’ll need to make significant progress to unlock it. To unlock PvP in Lost Ark, you will need to keep on progressing through the Main Story until you reach East Luterra. This is the moment when you will unlock the Luterra Castle. After you reach the mentioned location, a new questline will appear in your log named “Rebuilding Luterra.” Starting this quest will take you to the Proving Grounds, after which you’ll be able to access PvP.

The questline isn’t that complicated or time-consuming as it only contains a series of dialogues. Furthermore, an important thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need to reach Combat Level 26 before you can unlock this questline. Therefore, if you haven’t hit this level yet, then continue taking part in different activities until you reach it. Once done, waste no time in going to the Luterra Castle.

After you complete the mentioned questline, you’ll unlock the Proving Grounds Entry Board. This is something through which you’ll get the luxury to queue in PvP matches.

What Is the Book of Coordination and How Can It Help You in PvP?

The thing which I love the most about PvP in Lost Ark is the Book of Coordination. A lot of players often get confused with how this book works, but it’s actually pretty simple. The main purpose of the Book of Coordination is to help you improve your PvP build by providing you with the option to improve your stats and skills.

Stat Points

To begin with, the Book of Coordination in Lost Ark lets you spend 1000 stat points on different categories. These include:

• Domination – This stat will increase the amount of damage you can deal to debuffed enemies.
• Swiftness – This will increase the speed of your attacks and your overall movement. Furthermore, it also reduces the cooldown time of all abilities. 
• Endurance – Investing points in this category will increase your overall health and armor.
• Expertise – This will improve your debuffs and reduce the effectiveness of the enemy debuffs. 
• Specialization – This will improve the abilities of your class, including awakening skills. 
• Crit – If you increase this stat, you will start dealing more critical damage.

As you can see for yourself, each stat has a different purpose. Therefore, you need to invest the stat points in categories that suit your playstyle the most. For instance, if you run out of health quickly, it will be wise to invest more points into Endurance as this will allow you to survive longer in combat. But if you think you need to improve your mobility, then investing in the Swiftness category can help you greatly. 

However, make sure not to invest all of your stat points into a single category. You must make sure to create a balance between everything. Sure, you can add more stat points to a category where you fall weak, but this does not mean that you should avoid the other categories.

Skill Points

The Book of Coordination also lets you choose different skills that you can use against your enemies in combat. The best part is that you get access to every skill that is available for your class, even if you haven’t unlocked it yet. You will get the luxury to spend 340 skill points, so make sure to invest only in those skills that suit your playstyle the most. Otherwise, you’ll just waste your skill points and you also won’t be able to perform well in combat.

The type of skills you choose will also depend on the kind of build you’re going for. For instance, if you’re planning to go with a Sorceress build, it will be wise to pick up skills such as Blaze, Lightning Bolt, Frost’s Call, Explosion, etc. Similarly, those opting for a Gunslinger build can go with Perfect Shot, Peacekeeper, Spiral Flame, Spiral Tracker, etc.

PvP Game Modes

Lost Ark allows players to participate in three different PvP game modes. Each one is unique and will offer a different kind of experience.

Team Deathmatch

In this mode, two teams containing three players each fight against each other. The goal of this mode is simple; the team that gets the most number of kills before the time runs out wins the match. This mode requires teamwork as you can not survive on your own. However, it’s pretty fun and will let you test your skill against a whole team of real players. The match will last for 4 minutes. If there is a tie between both teams, there will be overtime of 30 seconds. If the match is tied even after the overtime, the team that gets the next kill is declared the winner of the match.

Deathmatch

This one is similar to the mode mentioned above. However, this time, you won’t be going in with a team. Instead, everyone is on their own. Think of this as the Free for All mode that is found in multiplayer shooter games. Your main goal is to get the most kills within 4 minutes.

Team Elimination

The third and final PvP mode in Lost Ark is Team Elimination. This one also features two teams of three players fighting each other, but there’s a catch to it. Instead of both teams engaging with each other at the same time, this mode will first put one player from each team against the other. If your opponent loses the fight against you, his team will send out their second player, and you’ll need to fight them this time. However, keep in mind that you won’t be able to heal during the matches. Therefore, your main priority will be to inflict as much damage as you can on your enemy so that your teammates can handle them easily if you get knocked down.

Co-Op Battle

Co-op Battles are also a part of PvP in Lost Ark, and they are pretty fun. There are a total of three Co-op battles, and they become available at a certain time during the day. You can either play them alone or jump in with a team. You can have a total of five other players as a team can not be greater than six players.

Ironlands

In Ironlands, two teams fight against each other over the control of the Elysium, which can be found at the center of the map. To spice things up, there are buffs available on the ground that you can pick up. Your main goal is to utilize these buffs and use your skills to gain as many points as you can before the time is over.

Golden Eagle Battlefield

Next up, we have Golden Eagle Battlefield. Unlike the mode mentioned above, where you had to take control of a single Elysium, this one features three of them. Your main goal is to control more Elysium than the enemy team.

Blue Dragon Territory

Finally, we have Blue Dragon Territory. In this mode, both teams are assigned their own Elysium, and you have to defend yours while trying to take control of the enemy’s Elysium. This is a mode where your team will need to divide into two groups. The first group will protect your Elysium, while the second group will go and try to take control of the one that belongs to the enemy.

PvP Ranked Mode and Its Rewards

After you have played enough PvP matches to reach Tier 1, you’ll unlock the Competitive Mode. This is the ranked mode of Lost Ark, where things start getting a little serious. After you win a match in the ranked mode, you receive points that increase your rank. But if you lose a match, these points are deducted, which can decrease your rank. An important thing to keep in mind is that you can only queue solo for Ranked Matches.

At the end of each ranked season, you earn different rewards depending on your placement. Each placement has its own set of rewards, which can be seen below. Each chest contains different items, such as skins, headwear, Blue Crystals, and so on.

Coins of Courage

Aside from the ranked rewards, you can also earn Coins of Courage which you can use to get amazing items. These coins can be earned by winning matches, but once you reach a high PvP level, you’ll start receiving them just for participating in matches as well. The Coins of Courage can be used at the Quartermaster, who will provide you with different items in exchange for them. The items you can get include Mounts, upgrade materials, and so on. Keep in mind that the Coins of Courage you earn will expire at the end of each season. Therefore, make sure to spend them before they are gone.

Best Classes for PvP in Lost Ark

Lost Ark allows players to choose from a wide range of different classes. Each class is different from the other and has its own pros and cons. However, while all classes are pretty amazing, there are some that shine among the rest in PvP. Therefore, we’ll mention a couple of classes that we think are best for PvP in Lost Ark. Keep in mind that there are other classes available as well, and you should go with the one that suits your playstyle the best.

Deathblade

In PvP, mobility plays a great role. If you aren’t fast enough, your enemies will take you down before you know it. This is where the Deathblade class comes in. The reason why it’s considered one of the best PvP classes in Lost Ark is its amazing mobility. Furthermore, Deathblade also happens to be a class that can deal a huge amount of damage with each attack. Therefore, if you want to become someone who can quickly annihilate his enemies, you need to pick Deathblade. The only downside about Deathblade is long cooldown times, which can put you at a disadvantage if you’re not performing combos.

Deadeye

There can be times when you can’t afford to get close to your enemies to take them down as they are just too good in melee combat. But with the Deadeye class, you can take them down from far away. This class can help you excel in both close and medium-range combat, and you will always stay at a safe distance while targetting your enemies. However, Deadeye does not offer good mobility, so this might prevent some players from picking this class.

Soulfist

Soulfist is the kind of class that can work as a support and a tank as well. However, the main thing which prevents many players from choosing this class is its difficulty. Unlike some other classes in Lost Ark that are easy to master, Soulfist is an extremely difficult class. • Make sure to remember your role in a match. If you’re a healer, stay back and avoid getting all the attention as your main focus will be to survive and keep your teammates alive. Similarly, if you’re a tank, then your main aim is to defend your teammates and make your enemies go through hell. 
• During the Deathmatch mode, you should keep a balance between attack and defense. While attacking, look around for enemies that are low on health as they can be taken down easily. However, when your own health drops down to a low number, then avoid combat at all costs until you’re ready to pick a fight again.
• When playing Ranked, make sure to give everything you got as you can not afford to lose a match. Losing a match will result in your points getting deducted, which will have a negative effect on your rank.
• After earning a decent amount of Coins of Courage, make sure to spend them quickly as they’ll expire at the end of the season. Also, try not to waste them on stuff that you won’t be using. 
• When choosing a class for PvP, always go with the one you think you’ll enjoy playing with the most.
