Purple Star Stardew Valley

The Purple Star in Stardew Valley

There are many ways to earn money in Stardew Valley and one of the most obvious methods is by selling things you had foraged and those processed on your farm. To make the most out of this money-making technique, what you have to do is make sure that you sell those whose quality is at the pinnacle.

The quality of the resources in Stardew Valley is represented by the color of the star beside the icon of an item that it comes with. All in all, the game has three colors for quality: silver, gold, and purple.

Among these three, the purple star-ed item suggests having the highest quality so you have to watch out for those purple stars, especially when you opt to sell them. Such items, particularly tools that are purple star-ed, also display and exhibit the most benefit and convenience upon usage.

What is an Iridium Quality

Naming after the color of the stars, the different item qualities in Stardew Valley are called silver-quality, gold-quality, and lastly, iridium-quality for that purple star in Stardew Valley. In that regard, if there is no star attached to an item, it only means that it is of its regular quality and would have the normal price once sold.

Having that said, here are the things in Stardew Valley that could have iridium versions.

Iridium Rod

An Iridium Rod, which is the highest quality out of all the rods, would be available at Willy’s Fish Shop for 7,500 gold once you reach Fishing Level 6. The perk an Iridium Rod offers is that you can accessorize it with a bait or a tackle–can also be both–so you can catch a wider variety of fish with ease.

Iridium Pickaxe

The fully upgraded version of the pickaxe is the Iridium Pickaxe which can be achieved by asking for the Blacksmith’s service, in exchange for 25,000 gold and 5 Iridium Bars. Having the Iridium Pickaxe enables you to break rocks with just one hit.

This would, in turn, make it easier for you to collect nodes and geodes from mines; as well as remove rocks and boulders from pathways, especially those tough rocks in the Quarry Mines and Skull Cavern.

Iridium Axe

Removing tree stumps, and chopping branches and trees, are undeniably quite tedious tasks. But, you can have less hassle with the Iridium Axe which renders you able to get rid of a fully-grown tree with only 2 swings of the axe. On the other hand, a single hit for a small stump and trees that are at stage 4 and below.

Iridium Hoe

Hoes are used to digging up Artifact Spots as you go foraging throughout the town. Chiefly, they are used to till the soil on your farm so you can start planting in them. Apart from that, hoes are also for tilling the sand in The Mines, on The Beach, and in The Desert. In other words, in most parts of Stardew Valley where the soil is exposed. To have a speedy soil-tilling activity, an Iridium Hoe delivers an area of effect of 6×3 tiles.

Iridium Sprinkler

Sprinklers are convenient farm equipment that helps in mitigating your farming burdens. Particularly watering your tilled plots every morning to make sure your plants grow healthy and abundantly. But, you might need a few more of these if you happen to have a vast planting site. In that regard, the Iridium Sprinkler is a perfect remedy for that worry since it can cover 24 adjacent tiles.

Iridium Watering Can

At the beginning of the game, you are granted primary farming tools including a watering can and for a start, you are given a regular watering can which enables you to water up to 40 plots before needing a refill.

But, as your farm expands, 40 charges might be too little to cater to all your plots; that’s when the Iridium Watering Can come in. The Iridium Watering Can’s water capacity goes up to 100 charges, with an increased area of effect to 6×3 tiles at a time.

Iridium Needle

Iridium Needle is a type of dagger weapon that could be dropped from special slimes in The Mines upon triggering an event, particularly a challenge. This high-end weapon deals the highest base critical strike chance and critical power to enemies, among other weapons.

Things You Can Do with Iridium Items

Obtaining high-quality items could come as something overwhelming, making you think endlessly about how you should take care of it or make the most out of it. Imagine landing your hands on actual treasure; acquiring iridium items might feel like that.

As discussed earlier, purple star in Stardew Valley items, in other words, iridium-quality items, sell with the most value. Thus, the most practical thing you could do with Iridium quality items in your farm or your backpack is to make a profit out of them. It is also recommended by the Stardew Valley community to really prioritize selling such items–assuming that you have no other use for them–over the lower quality items.

The other worthwhile thing you could do with iridium items is gift them to the villagers of Pelican Town. This would greatly improve your relationship level with them, especially when the item is on their list of Loved gifts.

How to Get Iridium Items

As Iridium items are quite considered rare finds and optimal harvests, getting your hands on one poses quite a challenge. But, here are some methods that would help you obtain iridium items.

Final Upgrade of Items

Items, specifically weapons and farm tools, could be upgraded. For most tools, you can ask the Blacksmith to enhance them in exchange for some gold and specific resources. While other tools like the Fishing Poles could be upgraded on Willy’s Fish Shop. Truth to be told, upgrading items is easier said than done for every upgrade.

Also, you need to meet a particular skill level first, thus you need to work on that. Nevertheless, upgrading your tools unceasingly would eventually grant you purple star items.

Botanist Profession

If you really are keen on collecting higher quality items, working on your Foraging Skill would also pay off. Upon reaching Foraging Skill Level 10, you would be asked to choose a final profession. So, it would be wise to choose the Botanist Profession (assuming that you had chosen Gatherer on the prior profession selection).

This profession would benefit your objective greatly. Since its passive effect is that items you foraged would always be of the highest quality.

Take Care of Your Farm Animals

Do you know that you can also get iridium products from animals? If not, then this is good news for you! If you tend to your farm animals regularly and make sure to give them adequate attention and affection, their mood will be on the good side. Under that condition, your animals are most likely to give you a purple star in Stardew Valley products.
