The Rat Problem Quest
Stardew Valley is known for its relaxing and comforting vibes and atmosphere inside the game. From moving to the town and beginning your new life as a farmer, until the part where you get to know more about the villagers inside the town – everything is just good enough to loosen up a bit from your day.
When we say farming game, the first thing that you might think of is growing crops and living with your barn and coop animals. However, these animals are not the only animals that you will be encountering. Before you even think that we are referring to monsters – no. We are talking about the rats, or if those were actually rats… That is why we are here to show you how to complete the Rat Problem Quest.
The Rat Problem Quest is one of the storylines quests that you will encounter upon reaching a certain point in the game. In fact, this is one of the early story quests that you will have to deal with. Here, you will be introduced to the Community Center and to the Wizard.
What is the Community Center
Initially, the Community Center will not be somewhere you would want to visit because it is somewhat disorganized. However, after completing the Rat Problem Quest, the Community Center will provide you with bundles that you have to complete. These bundles can be considered small side quests that will grant you extra rewards. Completing all the bundles in the Community Center is one of the main quests in the game.
Plus, the rewards that you can get from the completed bundles in the Community Center will greatly help you in terms of your future quests. Some bundle gives crafting recipes and even access to new map locations such as Ginger Island.
How to Trigger the Rat Problem Quest
To start with the quest, you just have to wait for a sunny day after the 5th of Spring. If you think it is the perfect day for it, enter the central park from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
When you do this, a cutscene with Mayor Lewis will play. He will talk to you about the rat problem that’s happening inside the Community Center. When this happens, you will be given access to unlock the Community Center for you to check what is going on inside.
When the cutscene shows that you have entered the Community Center, you will see these small and strange creatures called the Junimos. These Junimos will immediately hide when they see Mayor Lewis tagging along with you.
Go to the Community Center
After talking to Mayor Lewis, you will automatically accept the quest. You can check this automatically added in your journal. Plus, you will also be given access to enter the Community center for the first time. In fact, your job here is pretty simple.
Simply go to the Community Center and head over to the Crafts Room located on the lower left of the center. Inside the room, you will see an item on the floor called the Golden Scroll. Pick it up to see what’s written. Unfortunately, the language used is completely unknown. At this point, you can go back to your farm and sleep to save the progress.
Go to the Wizard’s Tower
After that, the Golden Scroll is still inside your inventory. In order to decipher the language used, you have to look for someone who has abilities to manipulate things through the use of magic. Luckily, the next day after waking up, you will receive a letter from the Wizard telling you to visit his tower.
To go there, simply head over to the Wizard’s Tower located in the western part of the Cindersap Forest. Upon arriving, head inside the tower to meet with the Wizard. After talking to him, he will give you a potion that will give you the capability to read and translate the language written on the Golden Scroll which is the language used by Junimos.
Once you are done talking with him, you will learn that this Golden Scroll is a list of all the things Junimos love. These are special offerings that you have to give them in the form of bundles, also known as the Community Bundles. Completing each bundle grants you a reward that will help you in your future quests or support your journey in completing the story-based quests by giving you access to certain map locations.
