Puzzle 1: Moonlight Challenge
The first Merlin Trials in the South Sea Bog region is the most tedious one. The goal of this puzzle is to find the three clusters of Lacewing Flies and bring them to the three Moonlight pillars to activate them. However, all the elements of this puzzle are hidden in plain sight. You can reach this Merlin Trial by traveling across the river near the northern South Sea Bog, as shown in the picture:
Once you initiate the puzzle with Mallowsweet Leaves, fly on your Broom to the small island in the north to find the first cluster of Lacewing Flies. Go near the flies and use the Lumos spell to catch them and bring them to the Moonlight pillar near the Merlin stone. The next cluster of flies is behind the second Moonlight pillar in the west.
Continue past the pillar and go behind the large tree to find them. Finally, the last cluster of flies is behind the pillar in the east, near the huge tree. If you lose the flies while jumping, you can always recatch them by casting Lumos. The challenge will complete after you bring all three clusters to the pillars.
Puzzle 2: Destroy Small Stones
The second Merlin Trial in the South Sea Bog is slightly challenging for poor navigators. The goal is to find and destroy the 9 small stone orbs placed on top of stone pillars. However, these balls are spread evenly in the area around the Merlin stone. You can reach this Merlin Trial by traveling south from the river, as shown in the picture:
The first set of small stone balls is located right next to the Merlin stone. You can destroy them with Confringo or any other destruction spell. The next three stone balls are below the cliff near the pond on the western side of the stone.
Finally, the last three stone balls are under the northern edge of the cliff; you can spot them by dropping from the edge. Alternatively, you can locate all 9 stone balls by casting the Revelio spell.
