What is Junimo Hut in Stardew Valley?
In Stardew Valley, crafting materials and constructing buildings is one of the side activities you can do to support the growth of your farm. There are different buildings that you can choose from. Some are used to shelter your barn animals, and some are used for the equipment on your farm.
Usually, these buildings and craftable materials are purchased from Robin in her Carpenter’s Shop which is located in The Mountains. However, there are some buildings that are not that easily accessible and easy to buy. An example of such is the Junimo Hut in Stardew Valley.
A Junimo Hut in Stardew Valley is a type of building that can be purchased from the Wizard inside the Wizard’s Tower. This building has an exceptional use because of its Junimos. Junimos are the inhabitants of this hut. They might seem little but these bad boys do a lot of work on your farm to make your quality of life even better and easier.
Junimos are forest spirits that act like your automated harvester friends. Once there are mature or fully-grown crops that require scythe in harvesting, the Junimos will do the job for you.
The Wizard’s Tower
As mentioned before, a Junimo Hut in Stardew Valley cannot be easily acquired. For most players, they can just buy this during the late game. The reason for this is because of your access to the Wizard’s Tower. Since it is the only way to obtain a Junimo Hut, you must first unlock this.
You will know if the Wizard’s Tower is unlocked if you receive a letter of invitation from the Wizard for you to visit him. To go here, walk over the west part of the Cindersap Forest. You can go here from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Once you are able to visit the tower, you have to find the Wizard’s Magic Ink and return it to him. In doing this, the Wizard will release some buildings available for purchase. The good thing about these buildings is that there is no crafting time needed. There is, however, a hefty price tag attached to them.
Junimo Hut Layout in Stardew Valley
Now that you have already known the use and importance of having Junimos as your farm companions, you now have to think and strategize on how you will position these buildings efficiently. Keep in mind that the work of the Junimos from your Junimo Hut is just limited to the area it covers.
Looking into details, a Junimo Hut covers 3 by 2 tiles on your farm. While the vicinity that it can cover in harvesting is 17 by 17 tiles. Basically, eight 5 by 5 crops surround the Junimo Hut, plus the corners of it. With this information, we got you covered on strategizing the position of Junimo Hut on your farm.
To maximize the function of the Junimo Huts, you must also know how to consider some farming equipment and items to be more efficient. These items and equipment that need to be considered are the scarecrows, sprinklers, and pathways.
Scarecrows
If you think about it, scarecrows are really popular when it comes to talking about farming crops because of their ability to scare away crows and prevent them from eating or destroying the fruits of your crops. Just like how it is in real life, the Stardew Valley farming experience is also the same as this.
The reason why it is also important to place scarecrows in your Stardew Valley farm is to have something that guards your crops. Since having Junimo Huts makes you a little complacent when it comes to harvesting, there is no need for you to regularly monitor it. If you are not regularly monitoring your farm, there should be something there in your place to do the job. Aside from the Junimo Hut, the scarecrow is one.
A scarecrow can protect an area of 17 by 17 tiles in a circular area. Now that we know its range, time to find a perfect spot for it.
Scarecrows are usually placed near the Junimo Hut since this is positioned at the center of all the 5 by 5 crops. To place the scarecrows, give the Junimo Hut an allowance of 5 tiles for each side. In each corner, it is where you will put the scarecrows.
You can craft scarecrows after reaching level 1 of your Farming Skills. It only requires 50 wood, 1 coal, and 20 fiber as its ingredients.
Sprinklers
While scarecrows are vital to the safety of your crops, sprinklers on the other hand are essential for their growth.
Sprinklers are craftable items that you can use in growing your crops on your farm. Every 6:00 AM, the sprinklers will automatically water the crops around them. Their range varies depending on the quality of the item.
A regular sprinkler can only water the 4 adjacent tiles to it, while a quality sprinkler can cover 8 adjacent tiles. Lastly, the iridium sprinkler can water 24 tiles every morning. When talking about practicality, it is obviously way better to save up for an iridium sprinkler especially if you are into lay outing your farm. Placing an iridium sprinkler in the middle of 5-by-5 crops is a very effective move to save space as well as crafting materials.
However, you can only start crafting an iridium sprinkler once you reach level 9 of your Farming Skills. Once it is achieved, you will need one of each gold bar, iridium bar, and battery pack to craft one. Aside from crafting it, you can also buy an iridium sprinkler from Krobus every Friday for 10, 000 gold.
Pathways
Pathways are also added to this layout to give the Junimos a particular space that they can walk n. Other than that, it also makes the layout look clean and organized. This serves as the divider for each section of Junimo Hut in Stardew Valley and its covered area.
Perks of the Junimo Hut Layout
Due to all the elements visible at a glance, it might seem difficult and cramped at first. However, if you look into its functionality and purpose, we can say that this Jnimo Hut layout is an efficient one and can actually work on its own. Basically, all you have to do here is check if there are still crops planted on it. After you plant another batch, you can again leave it on its own.
Plus, doing this type of layout already gives you 192 available crops, and that is already a big number especially if the winter season is coming – it will be easier for you to stock goods and survive for the whole season.
