V Rising: How to Get a Horse

Traveling around the map in V Rising can be difficult sometimes especially when your destinations are far away from your castle. But this problem only lasts until you own a horse or you have access to Waygates.

The horse can be the best mean of traveling around the regions in V Rising. It can get you anywhere on the map where you like to travel. So, in this guide, we are going to discuss everything regarding the horses like how to get a horse in V Rising.

It’s a pretty simple process of owning a horse and then using it as your ride. And the best thing is that there are dozens of spots on the map from where you can get a horse. They can give you the fastest moving speed as compared to walking around. Also, they attack your enemies while you are riding on them.

There are several spots on the map where you can find the horses. Mostly the spots can be found in Dunley Farmlands. However, a few more spots are also situated in Silverlight Hills

Some of the best spots can be found in Dunley Farmlands where you may see horses with better stats. Each of the horses has slightly different stats than the others. These stats include Max Speed, Acceleration, and Rotation Speed. Try to pick the horse that has the maximum stats as it will have the fastest speed and maximum gallops.

To own a horse, just get close to it and interact with them to mount. Once you mount on them, they are permanently yours and won’t roam around even if you are not using them. However, if you leave a horse someplace you can’t remember then you can own a different horse.

Now, let’s take a look at some best spots where you can find horses. The spots include mills, outposts, farms, and militia camps as well. However, the best spot can be the farm where the possibility of getting the higher stat horse is maximum.

Here is the list of spots:

  • Dunley Lumber Mill
  • Horse Track
  • Mosswick Village
  • Farm
  • Cotton Farm
  • Militia Camp
  • Bastion of Dunley
  • Dawnbreak Village
  • Army Outpost

The Silverlight Hills has three spots of Army Outpost that has some rare breeds of horses. You can check out those spots as well if you are looking to capture the best horses.

Taking Care of Horses in V Rising

V Rising How to Get a Horse - character settings

Horses don’t require much care but they would need water for their survival. Once you have acquired the horse you will need to craft the canteen in which you can store water for your horse.

In order to do that, you will need to unlock the crafting recipe for the canteen and that can be done by defeating Keely the Frost Archer. After defeating him you can craft a canteen using Plant Fiber and Leather.

The next thing you need to do is take the empty canteen to a water source and fill it up. Now get close to your horse and interact with it to transfer the filled canteen to its inventory. The horse will consume water continuously even when you are not playing the game.

Make sure to keep an eye on the remaining water level because the shortage of water will cause dehydration that can kill your horse.

Using Horse in V Rising

Using Horse in V Rising

Using a horse is not a big deal it’s rather a simple process that involves movement and attack functions. The horse can move at two different paces the first one is by default which is at normal speed and the second one is gallop ability which makes it move quickly. You can use the gallop ability by pressing the spacebar.

While riding a horse you can also attack your enemies using the basic melee attacks that are quite helpful when you are stuck in a horde of enemies. However, you cannot use the vampiric abilities while you are on a horse.

Horses are slightly faster than wolf form and can also attack while riding making them the best way of roaming around the map easily.

That’s all for the horses in V Rising. We have covered almost everything including how to get a horse in V rising, how to tame it, and care for it. Now you know that the best place is Dunley farmlands to look for the horses and you also got to know how you can use one.

Hopefully, this guide is gonna help you in getting a better in-game experience regarding the horses.
