Two-handed greatswords are powerful weapons in just about any game that has them, with the advantage of dishing out an ungodly amount of damage in each strike. The Claymore in Elden Ring is no exception, and on top of its damage, it also gives you an extended reach. This makes it easy to close the gap with the enemy.
If you’re a player with a tanky build and love to level up Physical skills, the Claymore is a great choice to pick up in the early game. You will only need 16 points of Strength and 13 points of Dexterity to use this fan-favorite weapon, which goes on to scale very well with those two attributes.

What You Need to Know About the Claymore
This weapon appears to be a long straight sword; you can wield it with two hands with low Strength points and one hand with high strength points. Even though the Claymore in Elden Ring is favored by most melee players, players who opt for mostly magic builds can also use this as a backup weapon for when they are low on Focus Points.
The sword can glide through enemies and objects alike, but is also great for thrusts. With this weapon, you get the Lion’s Claw skill by default — it doesn’t come with enchantments. This skill makes your character perform an extravagant-looking attack — a somersault before striking down hard.
Where to Find the Claymore Elden Ring
You will find the Claymore in Castle Morne in the southern part of the Weeping Peninsula.
If you haven’t visited the place yet, go to the Third Church of Marika Site and start your journey from there by going south on the nearby road. Keep going until you see the Bridge of Sacrifice and cross it to continue south. The road will eventually lead to Castle Morne.
Beware of the giant archer right in front of the front castle gate. If your level is low, try to sneak past him rather than engage, as he will attack you right after he notices you.
Get to the front gate and go inside. Keep going until you get to a Site of Grace.
Activate the Site of Grace and move forward until you reach an elevator. Take the elevator and go up.
You will find an open area with a small hill of bodies when you get down from the elevator. There are three dogs on the left side of the hill and a bunch of chanting Harpies on the right; they will all attack if you get noticed.
You need to cross the hill to get to where the Claymore in Elden Ring is. For this, you can kill all the enemies or try to sneak past them. To do the latter, you should get close to the wall on the right and sneak around the Harpies. Keep heading right, and you’ll find a room on the right with a door.
Head to the door, and right at the entrance on the left side, there will be a chest hidden behind some wooden barriers. Open the chest, and you get your Claymore in Elden Ring!
Frequently Asked Questions
In this section, we’ll discuss the most frequently asked questions about the Claymore in Elden Ring.
What Should I Pair the Claymore With?
Using the Endure Ashes of War enchantment for a heavy melee build is optimal. This will help you withstand attacks from the enemies. For other builds, such as one more reliant on high Intelligence, pair up magic enchantments with the Claymore. For high Faith, pair it up with Flame Art enchantments.
What Other Weapon Should I Pair the Claymore With?
The Banished Knight’s Halberd is a good choice for pairing up with the claymore as the combination of poking and striking has a staggering effect on enemies. To find the Halberd, you must take up a quest from a woman standing alone beside the road south of the Bridge of Sacrifice in Southern Limgrave.
This quest will require you to go to Castle Morne again and fight a Boss battle, so make sure you’re prepared. The Halberd needs lower attributes than the Claymore, so it’s accessible for you if you can already use the Claymore.
