Mahogany Tree in Stardew Valley
The Mahogany tree in Stardew Valley is one of the most common types of trees that you can see when you take a tour around. This can be found in specific areas of the map, but you can still choose to grow your tree on your farm by planting mahogany seeds.
Aside from the shade it gives, you can also get essential resources and items by foraging a mahogany tree, making it even better to own one or two. However, finding mahogany seeds can be quite confusing for players, especially the new ones.
Having said that, this article will tell you everything you need to know about where to find mahogany trees and seeds in Stardew Valley. Read until the end of the article and enjoy your farming experience in Stardew Valley!
Where to Find Mahogany Trees and Seeds
Although it was mentioned before that the mahogany tree in Stardew Valley is a common type of tree in Stardew Valley, it still doesn’t guarantee that you can spot one by just turning your head to the other side. If you try to explore the map, you will notice that certain types of trees grow in some specific parts of the town.
In this section, you will know the common spawn locations of mahogany trees, along with the ways how you can obtain mahogany seeds for you to have on your farm.
Location of Mahogany Trees
If you look at the map, you can see one island within the Fern Islands archipelago. That single island is known as Ginger Island.
On this lone island, you can find the mahogany trees that you are looking for. If the player arrives here for the first time, fully-grown mahogany trees can be found. These are normal mahogany trees that can be planted again once chopped down.
However, you must first finish repairing the boat located in the back room of Willy’s Fish Shop to be able to visit the island – this is the only way to go to Ginger Island. Once fully repaired, you will pay 1,000 gold to purchase a ticket for the boat ride. This purchase will also cover your trip on your way back home.
Obtaining Mahogany Seeds
Traveling back and forth from your farm to Ginger Island can sure feel exhausting at some point in your game progress. You would be better off having the mahogany trees on your farm instead of having to travel back and forth if all you want are the trees.
Having said that, this article section will tell you the different ways how you can obtain and collect mahogany trees.
Around Fully Grown Mahogany Tree
If you happen to pass by a fully grown mahogany tree, try walking around it and look for seeds anywhere around it. A fully grown tree can spread its seeds in every direction, just like how it is in the real world.
If you happen to spot a partially buried seed, use your pickaxe or axe and it will pop out of the ground. You will know if it is a mahogany seed if it has an orangish-yellow color and is oblong.
You can do this anywhere around fully-grown mahogany trees. Although it is not guaranteed that there are always seeds scattered around the tree, chances are that some seeds are still there.
Chopping Down a Mahogany Tree
After dealing with the chances of scattered seeds around a mature mahogany tree, you can also try chopping down a mahogany tree. This has a higher chance of dropping a mahogany seed. This is the very reason why you can plant and chop mahogany trees endlessly on Ginger Island.
Chopping Stumps
Stumps are the body of the tree left after cutting it down. These stumps can be found in three locations – on your farm, in the Secret Woods, and the Mines. Six stumps respawn daily in Secret Woods so if you want a consistent supply of mahogany seeds, you can try grinding this area every single Stardew Valley day.
Chopping down stumps doesn’t also have a hundred percent chance of dropping mahogany seeds but only a 10% chance. Nevertheless, this small probability can still give you the seed of the tree you want.
Defeating Slimes
Slimes are small monsters that can be found both in the MInes and in the Secret Woods. These enemies drop various items after slaying them.
In terms of the slimes that give mahogany seed drops, you might want to kill the ones in the Secret Woods near the area with stumps. If you explore the area more, you can see a specific spot where a group of slimes is gathered. Defeating one slime gives a 10% of dropping a mahogany seed. And just like the stumps, these slimes also respawn every single day.
Opening a Golden Coconut
Golden coconuts can be found and obtained after going to Ginger Island. You will see pal trees and upon shaking them, there is a chance of you getting a golden coconut. It can also be found by digging artifact spots on the island.
If you think about it, a golden coconut is like a geode that you cannot open on your own. In this case, you will have to bring this to Clint. Also, pay him 25 gold to crack open your golden coconut. However, trying to get mahogany seeds from a golden coconut is not an efficient way of collecting seeds. This is because golden coconuts are rare. And, there is only a 1 over 7 chance of it dropping a mahogany seed.
Products of Mahogany Trees
Now that we’ve been talking about the location of the mahogany tree and ways of obtaining mahogany seeds. Yet, it is just right to discuss the essence of the mahogany tree.
Foraging and chopping down mahogany trees give you important resources that you will be needing throughout your in-game progress. Hardwood and sap are the two important resources that you can obtain from a mahogany tree.
Hardwood is one of the most needed resources that you will be needing at the later part of the game. You can acquire hardwood by chopping down a mahogany tree using any type of axe. One mahogany tree has a chance of dropping you up to 10 hardwoods. On the other hand, placing a tapper on your mahogany tree in Stardew Valley will give you sap every day.
