To progress in Hogwarts Legacy, you will often have to do various assignments for your professors that can often have you growing plants, collecting items, or even popping balloons. Finding troll bogeys is one such assignment, and you will also need troll bogeys later on to craft invisibility potions. So they are more useful than you’d think!
The first example of having to find troll bogeys is Professor Onai’s assignment. You have to complete this to learn Descendo, an important spell.
Thankfully, there is nothing special to finding and collecting their bogeys, you just have to beat them, and they will drop their bogeys on the ground near their body. They’ll glow, so they aren’t hard to find.
Where to find Trolls in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy, you will find trolls in their lairs. Much like spiders, inferi, and other monsters that drop special ingredients, trolls have their own location on the map that you can farm them from. This provides you with an unlimited amount of trolls and their bogeys!
To find these lairs, you need to go to your map and go to the world map. From there, you will find an icon that looks like a cave. Remember to zoom in when searching for troll lairs/dens! Some icons are hidden if you zoom out too much, making it impossible to find the troll lairs.
Most of the time, these lairs are going to be far away. You’ll need to hop on your broom and travel quite the distance for most troll dens.
How to Get Troll Bogeys
Once you’ve arrived at the troll den, you now have to beat the troll to acquire the bogeys. Trolls are rather difficult to beat, and there are different types of trolls, although they all give you bogeys.
If you have Flipendo unlocked, the fight will become much easier, as a properly timed Flipendo (when they are smashing the ground with their club) will do extra damage. Also, throwing the troll’s rocks back at them will stun them, giving you more opportunities to do damage. You’ll find all of this information in the collection page!
To throw a boulder back, all you have to do is block with Protego and then press the throw button (z for PC). This knocks a troll onto its knees.
Once beaten, you will find troll bogeys on the ground where you beat the troll.
There are other ways to acquire troll bogeys outside of going to their lairs. Here are some common ways to get troll bogeys:
- Take the Helm of Urktot Quest – this puts you right next to a troll (although the fight is optional) at the end of the quest. This is how I completed the assignment.
- Purchase troll bogeys from J. Pippins Potions – you can also just buy the ingredients from the potion seller at Hogsmeade (his potions aren’t too strong for you, traveler). It is 100 gold each, so don’t bankrupt yourself.
