The Sons of the Forest is a sequel to the old survival classic, The Forest. Much like the original, you need to craft and build defenses to survive the cannibals on the island. Critical to this is the shovel.
In this article, I’ll show you where to find the shovel in the Sons of the Forest and what you need it for.
Shovel Location Sons of the Forest
You can find the shovel in Sons of the Forest by heading to the cave nearby the snow mountains. It’ll be along the river, so follow it all the way until you see a cave partially submerged with three bodies kneeling outside.
There will be some rope and cloth nearby as well. Pick that up too.
Before you access the cave with the shovel, you must bring the Zipline, the Rebreather, and something to fight off hostile NPCs. The cave has lots of enemies inside.
As you progress through the cave, you will find a dead body in an orange jumpsuit with the shovel sitting right on them. Pick it up, and you have the shovel!
The shovel is very important for progressing in the game and finding key items for actually beating the game. It isn’t like Minecraft, where you will use the shovel to start building or anything.
You’ll instead find dig spots that will give you essential items like keycards. I won’t spoil everything for you.
