You managed to defeat Morgott, the Omen King, and found the entrance to the Erdtree in Elden Ring. You think this is the end of the game, as you finally make your way to the final destination. However, something is blocking your path to the end of Elden Ring: thorns. Impenetrable thorns are keeping the entrance to the Erdtree locked away from players.
Now, you might be wondering: How do you get through those thorns? Well, we just need to burn them. Here is how you can burn those wretched thorns and finish your first playthrough of Elden Ring.
How to Burn the Thorns of the Erdtree in Elden Ring
From the thorns of the Erdtree, go back to the Site of Grace where you just defeated Morgott, the Omen King, and rest. Melina will arrive and present you the Rold Medallion (important for getting to the Rold Route), as well as a red quest marker that will guide you ahead. With Morgott vanquished, the seal that was previously obstructing the route to the region guarded by Misbegotten may now be explored.
Return to Avenue Balcony Grace, take the main street exit, and turn left. Follow the roadway northeast and through a big gate to reach a Misbegotten-populated zone. The road splits here: the lower way leads to a Perfume Bottle guarded by a Leonine Misbegotten, while the upward path is filled by a huge number of Misbegotten and leads to a lift that exits the capital to the east.
Continue on the trail to the east. Take the elevator down and look for a chamber with the Blade of Calling in the southwest corner of the elevator shaft. You’ll reach the Forbidden Lands and the next Site of Grace if you exit the building at the bottom of the elevator.
From this point on, players will have to advance towards the Forge of the Giants, which you can find in Mountaintops of the Giants. Resting at the Site of Grace at the forge will allow you to commit the cardinal sin and burn the Erdtree. You will fall asleep and wake up in Crumbling Farum Azula. If you’ve connected with the Three Fingers, you must teleport here by selecting the ‘Listen to the sound of the flames’ option at the Site of Grace instead.
You will have to defeat the Beast Clergyman in Crumbling Farum Azula. Once you have, you will teleport back to Leyndell, which is now covered in ash. You have managed to burn the thorns in Elden Ring and the passage towards the inner sanctum of Elden Ring’s Erdtree is now open.
End
Now, all you have to do is get through the various enemies standing in your way and you will finally be able to fight the final boss of the game, the Radagon of the Golden Order. Even though it sounds like you are really close to the end of the game, if you just discovered the thorns, you still have a very long way to go. Defeating the Fire Giant, the Beast Clergyman, and everything else standing in your way is going to be extremely hard and will take a very long time, so be ready.
Now that you know how to burn the thorns in Elden Ring, the Lands Between experience is not even close to done.
