What are Golden Walnuts
Gold is not the only thing you will ever need in your Stardew Valley endeavors. Although it is very important in every transaction in your goal of expanding and growing your farm, you have to keep in mind that gold is not the only currency that you will encounter throughout your Stardew Valley endeavors. As you progress through the later part of the game, you will surely encounter the Golden Walnuts.
Golden Walnuts are another currency that you will discover once you reach Ginger Island. Upon visiting Ginger Island, you might experience a culture shock because almost every move will cost you a Golden Walnut or more.
All in all, the player can find 130 Golden Walnuts inside Ginger Island. That being said, you will also make use of this currency inside the island only as well.
If you have already met the Island Trader, the items offered are not possible to purchase with gold but only with Golden Walnuts. Some quests also need some prerequisite tasks that require the use of Golden Walnuts. With just that information, you might already get the idea of how important the Golden Walnuts are. However, the question is where to get these currencies.
How to Collect Golden Walnuts
Golden Walnuts have specific locations where you can find them. Each walnut will only spawn in one location once. They are so specific that you have to decipher the hints given by the Ginger Island parrots.
But generally speaking, you can collect Golden Walnuts by fishing, harvesting crops, mining Mussel Nodes, killing Tiger Slimes, processing some items, and completing some quests. If you think about it, they all sound similar to what you commonly do in everyday life in Stardew Valley. It’s just that the Golden Walnuts are not always guaranteed so you have to grind them to complete them.
Location of Every Golden Walnut
To make it easy for you, all Golden Walnuts can only be found inside the Ginger Island just like mentioned earlier. To get some ideas on what locations you can visit and check out for some hidden Golden Walnuts, you can go to Leo’s Hut and talk to the parrot. By doing so, you will receive some riddles that may or may not help you in locating the Golden Walnuts.
Here are all the stated by Leo’s parrot:

If you read these carefully, you might notice that some hints are pretty obvious and direct to the point, especially if you have a wide knowledge of the map and the game’s ecosystem. But if you are not that good at deciphering clues, we prepared a specific and more detailed list of the locations of all Ginger Walnuts.
Ginger Island East
In this region of the island, you can find two Golden Walnuts by just walking around. In the jungle, follow the path heading to Leo’s hut and you will see a walnut sticking out of a bush. The other one can be found by standing in front of Leo’s hut and walking east going to the Gem Bird Shrine. Another Golden Walnut can be subtly seen from here.
After that, head over to the altar down Leo’s hut. Place a banana on it and a gorilla will appear to reward you with three Golden Walnuts.
While still inside Leo’s hut, grab your axe and hit the tree inside to get one Golden Walnut.
Lastly, for the Island East, go straight to Gem Bird’s Puzzle and receive five Golden Walnuts. Finish it by placing the gems in the right places—blue is on top, yellow is on the left, green is at the bottom, and purple is on the right.
Ginger Island West
For the western side of Ginger Island, you will be able to obtain 15 Golden Walnuts through exploration.
The first one can be found by entering the shipwreck located southwest of the beach. Inside is a walnut plant where you can find the first explored walnut.

If you are standing at the farm’s Parrot Express station, cross the bridge and go west to find a Golden Walnut slightly sticking out of a hedge. On the other hand, another Golden Walnut can be found on the east of the farm’s Parrot Express. You will notice a group of pebbles in a diamond shape. Dig the center to get the walnut.
Still making the farm’s Parrot Express station the point of reference, move east, and follow the hidden path as shown by the red lines in the picture. At the end of the path, you will see a hidden Golden Walnut. After that, go south of the farm’s Parrot Express station. Head over to the cliff and move east to obtain another walnut.

Other Ways to Obtain Golden Walnuts
Aside from all these, you can also get Golden Walnuts from Golden Coconuts. You can find this anywhere on Ginger Island by shaking Palm Trees. To increase the chance of getting one, always shake the tree with a visible coconut on it.
The first Golden Coconut that you will obtain will always have a walnut inside. However, you can only get its content by letting Clint, the Blacksmith, crack it for you.
