How to Complete The Pirate’s Wife Quest

The Pirate’s Wife Quest

Pirate's wife quest

Stardew Valley is a game filled with stories and mysteries that are yet to be told and unfold. Some of the stories can be activated by reaching a specific level of friendship with villagers. While some can stories can be activated by accepting quests. One example of the latter is The Pirate’s Wife Quest.

This quest will tell you the story of Birdie and her husband who already passed away. If you are curious, Birdie is one of the new characters that you will meet upon unlocking Ginger Island.

Your main objective in this quest is to trade items with some villagers until you find a keepsake that used to be owned by Birdie’s husband. Get to know more about Birdie and his husband by completing this quest.

How to Trigger The Pirate’s Wife Quest

repair community center

The first thing that you have to do to be able to activate The Pirate’s Wife Quest is to have access to Ginger Island as Birdie resides here. However, there are some things that you have to do in order to go there.

Willy's boat

To gain access to Ginger Island, you should be able to repair the Community Center first. Other than that, you also have to repair Willy’s boat which you can find behind the Fish Shop. For you to do this, you have to bring 500x hardwood, 5x battery packs, and 5x iridium bars and the boat will be fully repaired.

Once the boat is back to its original state, you can use it to go to Ginger Island. Each travel will cost you 1,000 gold.

Ten Golden Walnuts

Once you arrive at Ginger Island, you have to head over to the left side to meet Birdie. However, an actual bird will be guarding the path and will request 10 Golden Walnuts from you. There is no way for you to disregard this request since this is the only way for you to meet Birdie, so you have to prepare these precious walnuts to cross.

There is a total of 130 Golden Walnuts in the game. You can find them around the map through farming, foraging, mining, fishing, digging, and even fighting monsters.

When you are finally able to go past the bird, keep heading to the left to see Birdie sitting in front of the hut beside the beach.

The War Memento

When you see Birdie, approach and talk to her. First, she will tell you about his husband’s story of how he was lost in the sea and how there is no trace of the shipwreck after the incident. Because of that, she has been trying to find and collect pieces of important mementos for her to cope with her grief. But due to her old age and some incapabilities, she needs help from someone.

War memento

After her story, she will then hand you the War Memento. Once she gives this to you, it will be the start of your trading journey with the other villagers. Meaning that you have to give this item to someone in exchange for another item that you will be trading to another. In this quest, you will be touring the whole Stardew Valley just to complete the items that are needed. Sounds a bit intimidating, but it is just like doing an exchange gift but you serve as their courier.

Go to Kent

Gourmet tomato salt

Once the War Memento has been handed, go to Kent’s house and give him this item. Kent will love this item. In return, he will give you the Gourmet Tomato Salt.

Go to Gus

When talking about food, gourmet, and scrumptious diner meals, it would definitely be about Gus. Head over to Gus’s place, also known as The Stardrop Saloon, and give him this Gourmet Tomato Salt. He would be so appreciative that he will also give you the Stardew Valley Rose.

Go to Sandy

Advanced TV remote

The Stardew Valley Rose from Gus will definitely belong to Sandy. You can go to Calico Desert and meet Sandy in Oasis to bring her this flower. Once she accepts this, she will hand you the Advanced TV Remote.

Go to George

Arctic shard

Other than strolling around and getting annoyed with kids, what else do old people like to do during their free time? Watch TV. And who is the famous elderly in Pelican Town? None other than George.
Go to George and give him the Advanced TV Remote so that he will give you the Arctic Shard.

Go to the Wizard

Wiggling worm

After you receive the Arctic Shard from George, you will have to walk over to the Cindersap Forest and head over to the Wizard’s Tower. Here, you will have to give the Wizard the Arctic Shard. He will then hand you the Wiggling Worm in exchange for the shard.

Go to Willy

Pirate's Locket

If you think about it, worms are best used as bait in fishing. And who is the ideal man to talk to about fishing tips? It is Willy. Basically, you will just go back to where you started. Give Willy the Wiggling Worm, so that he will hand you the Pirate’s Locket.

Completing the Quest

After the series of exchanging items among the villagers here and there, Willy will be the last man that you have to meet. This only means that if you have already received the Pirate’s Locket, you have to go back to Birdie all the way from Ginger Island.

With the Pirate’s Locket being in your inventory, talk to Birdie and show her this item. She will then be totally grateful to see this.

This action will trigger a cutscene to show you the whole conversation. When the cutscene ends, you will be receiving your rewards. Namely, these are 5x Golden Walnuts and the crafting recipe for Fairy Dust.
