Trolls are one of the tougher enemies you’ll have to fight in Hogwarts Legacy. Tougher than the scaly Dugbog. So, in this article, we will focus on how to beat trolls and their weaknesses.
There are many different types of trolls in Hogwarts Legacy—river trolls, forest trolls, chaos trolls, etc. For the most part, they are all the same. Some of them are tankier than others, but their attacks don’t change much.
We have a guide on where to find trolls and their bogeys if you’re here for Professor Onai’s assignment. We outline a very simple way to defeat trolls there as well, but this will be much more in-depth.
Troll Weakness
Trolls have a few attacks to be aware of.
One is the charge attack. This is unblockable and will force you to dodge roll. If the troll runs into an obstacle like a wall, it will get stunned, and you will be able to hit them with attacks freely.
The second attack is the rock throw. This attack is blockable with Protego. If you do end up blocking this attack, you will have a short period of time where you can throw the rock right back at the troll, stunning them. From here, you will do extra damage to the stunned troll and will have a couple of seconds before they get up.
The third attack is partially blockable. This one is usually a combo of one to two unblockable attacks, followed by a downward swing that you can block with Protego. Once the troll has smashed their club on the ground, you can use Flipendo to smack the troll with their own weapon. This does massive damage to the troll. While the other attacks allow you to pump damage into the troll, this counter is what will do the most damage.
Although, you might not have Flipendo depending on how early in the game you are.
Finally, the true weakness of the troll is either Imperio or Avada Kedavra. These unforgivable curses are insanely strong against trolls because they will immediately take them out of the fight.
Instantly Beat Trolls in Hogwarts Legacy
Like some other enemies in the game, especially larger ones, trolls won’t be affected by control or force spells. This makes it quite difficult to counter a rampaging troll. However, Avada Kedavra will instantly kill any enemy, even a troll. Making the encounter quite short in a 1v1 scenario.
If you are facing multiple enemies + a troll, Imperio will be your best friend here. By casting Imperio on the troll, you will turn it against its former allies. Turning your disadvantage to your advantage.
Abusing unforgivable curses is so satisfying. Ominis was wrong, and Sebastian was right.
Good luck fighting trolls witches and wizards!
