Not long after crashing on the island, you’ll have to start crafting primitive weapons to fight off the cannibal mutants residing on the island with you. However, you’ll soon get overwhelmed if you only use sticks and stones. So, your first goal should be to increase your firepower by finding the pistol in Sons of the Forest.
In this article, I’ll show the location of the pistol, where to find ammo, and what you should really do with the pistol. You’ll thank me later.
Pistol Location Sons of the Forest
The location of the pistol in Sons of the Forest is in a boat on the west coast of the island. You’ll have to swim your way out to the boat to reach the pistol. Make sure your food and water are maxed so you don’t starve.
Be aware there are several sharks in this water, so you can easily be killed on your way there. Just because the mutants can’t swim, doesn’t mean you’ll be safe.
Upon reaching the boat, a bunch of goodies will be strewn about, along with a corpse. Grab everything on the boat; these are useful materials. Also, the pistol will be sitting on top of a book. You can’t miss it.
Where to find pistol ammo
You can find pistol ammo all over the island in Sons of the Forest. Various caves and locations of interest will have pistol ammo in them. Thankfully, pistol ammo isn’t quite as rare as the ammo for the shotgun.
There are also attachments for the pistol around the island. I wouldn’t bother with these, as you will replace the pistol pretty quickly.
Using the 3D printer, you can make your own ammo. Although, I have a different idea for you that involves infinite ammo and auto-aim. And no, it isn’t a cheat.
Give Virginia the Pistol
Instead of taking the pistol for yourself, and having to scrounge for ammo, give it to Virginia. Virginia is the three-legged woman NPC that can become your companion after enough time passes. The amazing thing about Virginia is that she has infinite ammo on the guns she holds. And, of course, she can dual-wield.
This makes Virginia a cannibal killing machine.
Kelvin, the other NPC you have, can’t hold any weapons. Making him basically useless when it comes to cannibals. But Virginia can defend you against an entire pack by herself.
I’m not sure whether the devs intended this to happen or not. Although, I do believe it is intentional just because of how annoying it would be to have to refill her ammo every encounter.
And that is how you find and acquire the pistol in Sons of the Forest. The pistol’s location is a bit out of the way, but worth it for dealing with increasingly difficult cannibals.
