You can squeeze countless hours from Starfield by completing side quests and faction stories. Most of these quests are highly rewarding, so you can consider them as the fastest way to make money. However, not all these quests are as straightforward as killing a boss. For example, the Delivering Devils is a side quest for UC Vanguard with three possible approaches.
Table of Contents
Delivering Devils Background:
When you first join the Vanguard, you will encounter Hadrian Sanon, the xenobiologist. During that quest, you will defeat the horrific Terrormorph on a small settlement. However, the attack has grown strong, and Terrormorph is starting to appear in younger colonies. So, it is your job to investigate the cause and help Dr. Percival Walker.
Sounds simple, right? Well, there are three approaches to this quest, and two of them block you from a major reward. Therefore, this Delivering Devils walkthrough provides the best approach to tackle this quest.
If you need help on other quests, or are facing some bugs, here’s a complete Into The Unknown Walkthrough and Possible Bug Fixes.
Delivering Devils Walkthrough:
After defeating the Terrormorph on Tau Ceti II, speak with Hadrian Sanon to get the Delivering Devil’s quest. Your job is to find Dr. Percival Walker on Mars and help him investigate the cause of these attacks. However, there’s a whole other story attached to the doctor’s disappearance. Here’s how to complete the Delivering Devil’s quest:
Ask about Percival:
Hadrian Sanon says that the doctor resides in Cydonia on Mars. So, head to the Sol System, where you will find Venus, Earth, Mercury, and Mars (not far from New Atlantis). Once you reach Mars, scan it from your ship to land near Cydonia.
Next, head inside the Local Trade Center and speak with Oktai Enbayar near the front desk. Oktai tells you that Percival ran off after a few “disciplinary issues,” mainly unpaid debts. However, he points you to The Sixth Circle bar, where you can learn more about this story.
Meet The Red Devils:
The next step in the quest is to find out about Dr. Percival from The Sixth Circle bar. So, exit the Trade Center and ride the elevator all the way to the P2 level. As soon as you enter the bar, you will overhear a conversation between Andrew Robillard and Lou Savaarda.
Lou is a Red Devil and proclaims to remain loyal to the doctor till the very end. Speaking with Lou opens two options to help settle the doctor’s debt. Firstly, you can either pay off the debt yourself if you have enough credits. Alternatively, you can hack the Local Trade Authority server and clear the debt.
However, there is a third hidden way to settle the debt once and for all. To find out more about this method, speak with Cambridge, who’s listening at the nearby bar. He tells you about a secret Aqueous Hematite research facility. The aim of this facility was to create cheap pharmaceuticals and sell them at huge profit margins.
The only problem is that the Trade Authority wanted a chunk of this potential profit, and Percival refused to share his research. So, you can settle the debt by completing the research and giving the data to the Trade Authority. Now, it is up to you which approach you choose to take.
Pay Off Percival’s Debts:
Percival has gone into hiding because of his unpaid debt to the Trade Authority. So, you must find a way to clear the debt so that Percival can investigate the cause of the Terrormorphs.
The fastest way to clear this debt is to pay off the sum yourself. For all playthroughs, the sum is a mere 21,867 Credits. So, speak with Oktai to pay the debt the same way as you clear your bounty. However, if you take this path, you won’t receive the potential XP for killing the Spacers. Furthermore, you will also miss out on the Pick-Me-Up recipe.
Similarly, you can also hack the Trade Authority server and change the debt value to 500 Credits. Finally, you can pay the new debt and clear Percival’s record. The only problem is that you must lockpick the master lock in the room upstairs in the Trade Center. Again, if you use this approach, you will miss the rewards and the recipe.
As it turns out, the Red Devils were indeed conducting such research outside the Cydonia settlement. However, due to some reasons, the mine was overtaken by Spacers, but they still didn’t have access to the main research lab.
Clear The Mine:
So, for this approach, you must use your Boost Pack and head to the secret research facility. Next, defeat all the Spacers and their leader to gain valuable loot, save your credits, and acquire massive XP in the process. Finally, make your way to the research lab, complete the research, and collect the data samples.
Make sure to bring out your scanner and look for deposits of the Aqueous Hematite. If you find any, harvest it with your laser cutter, as it will come in handy later on. Once you have cleared the Deep Mine, head down to the lab in the deepest portion of the mine and use the comms panel to contact Cambridge.
Finish the Research:
Cambridge asks you to place the Aqueous Hematite inside the large machine in the next room. If you get the prompt, input the password “Ares2330” to gain full access to the system. However, if you didn’t find any samples on your way, you can simply harvest them from the nearby railway tracks.
Place the deposit inside the machine, wait for the processing, and collect the data sample from the large drawer. Again, contact Cambridge and give him the good news. Finally, Cambridge asks you to find the key and use the elevator to quickly exit the research facility. In this process, you will also receive the recipe for the Pick-Me-Up Drug (increases your weight capacity for 15 minutes).
Clear the Debt:
Now that you have the data sample head back to the Trade Authority. You can either use the jump/run method, or you can utilize the fast-travel option to save some time. When you arrive at the Trade Center, speak with Oktai and pitch this data as a means to increase the miners’ work efficiency.
Here, if you start with the Industrialist Background, you won’t have any trouble selling your data. Next, Oktai shows his concern for the poachers who have taken over the Deep Mines. The good news is that you have already taken care of that problem. So, not only will Oktai clear Percival’s debt, but also throw in 3,700 Credits for your effort.
Speak with Lou:
You can skip the last three steps if you choose to pay the debt yourself. Regardless of your approach, the next step is to speak with Lou in The Sixth Circle bar. After hearing the news that you cleared the debt, he reveals that Dr. Percival is hiding deep inside the Deep Mines.
Moreover, he will give you 500 Credits as a personal thank you and the passkey to Percival’s hideout. So, the final step is to find Percival, tell him about the debt, and ask him to investigate the cause of the Terrormorph attacks.
Speak to Percival:
Now, you must head back to the research facility inside the Deep Mines. Fortunately, you can access this location from the fast-travel menu, avoiding the kilometer-long journey.
Once you enter through the employer’s entrance to the facility, head further down to the railway tracks. Next, turn right and use Lou’s passkey to access the drilling waste room. Finally, follow the path and avoid all passageways until you enter a cavern (Percival’s hideout).
Follow the passage on your left to find the Microbiological Laboratory or The Red Devil HQ. You will find Percival right outside the facility door. Speak with him, let him run the tests, and ask for the conclusion.
Basically, he reveals that the sample is “Londinian,” the worst kind of Terrormorph. The quick spread means that it endangers the human lifeform, and countless humans can die in these attacks.
Speak to Hadrian: Delivering Devils Conclusion
Now that you have convinced Dr. Percival to conduct an investigation on the Terrormorph issue, your job is almost complete. Simply head to The Sixth Circle bar and speak with Hadrian. After a brief meeting, the doctor and Hadrian ask you to retrieve historical wartime data from the Armistice Archives.
You can access these archives from under the purview of the Cabinet. So, you must use your official channels to gain access to this data, but that’s for another upcoming quest. As for the Delivering Devils quest, you will receive the following rewards from Hadrian:
- Unlock the Eyewitness Mission
- 1000 Credits
- 250 XP
Conclusion:
Starfield is filled with side quests and extra activities to fill up your time. Some of these quests are even more interesting than the main story quests. For example, the Delivering Devils quest takes you on a rollercoaster ride of solving personal issues and gaining heroic outcomes. Furthermore, you can use different approaches to solve these issues.
