Elden Ring: How to Get to Volcano Manor?

Elden Ring is a truly open-world game that gives complete control of everything to the players. For instance, instead of following the story’s progression route, you can maneuver around the beautiful Lands Between to reach the farthest corner of the map and access late-stage areas.

However, such unorthodox methods can often be quite devastating as you will face higher-level foes without proper gear.

Still, it feels a bit innovative to be able to access all in-game areas without following the progression route. In this regard, Volcano Manor is one of the most controversial Legacy Dungeons of the game, mainly because the progression route doesn’t guide you to it.

So, how to get to Volcano Manor in Elden Ring? This article provides all the ways to reach this dungeon along with the pros and cons of each method so that you can choose the best option yourself.

How to get to Volcano Manor?

If you follow the Elden Ring critical path, you will reach Volcano Manor after clearing the first half of the game. However, even then, you will face greater difficulty finding this Legacy Dungeon’s entrance.

The fact that entering Volcano Manor can be as easy as buying a necklace or as complex as defeating some of the toughest bosses can be pretty overwhelming for players.

Furthermore, you can’t know all the ways to reach this area without a guide, so you might be thinking that defeating this boss is the only way in.

However, there are three ways to reach Volcano Manor, 2 of them include tough bosses, whereas the third one requires some Runes. So, what is the best way to get to Volcano Manor? Well, you can decide that for yourself after exploring all possibilities.

Without further delay, here are all the ways to reach Volcano Manor in Elden Ring:

Rya’s Questline:

Rya's Questline:

Rya is Tanith’s adopted daughter and a Volcano Manor scout. Completing her questline is extremely important for acquiring some of the best gear and the Tonic of Forgetfulness.

Furthermore, starting her quest is the easiest way to access Volcano Manor without facing any of the tough dungeon bosses. For this purpose, you must speak with Rya and complete her first quest to get an invitation to Volcano Manor.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to reaching Volcano Manor through Rya’s invitation:

  • First, start at the Laskyar Ruins in Liurnia of the Lakes and go northwest to find the Scenic Isle Site of Grace. You can also find this Grace by going west from the Telescope Icon.
  • After activating the Site, go east in the direction of the golden light to find Rya.
  • Speak with Rya inside the pavilion and choose to hear her request to retrieve her necklace.
  • Next, go north from the pavilion until you find the Boilprawn Shack.
  • Here, you can either purchase the necklace from Blackguard Big Boggart for 1,000 Runes or defeat him to get it for free. However, defeating him will lock you out of his quest line.
  • Return the necklace to Rya and exhaust her dialogue to get an invitation to Volcano Manor.
  • Finally, make your way to the Altus Plateau either through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice or by activating the Grand Lift of Dectus. In any case, you will find Rya in Altus Plateau; speak with her to teleport to Volcano Manor.

Through Mt. Gelmir:

Through Mt. Gelmir:

If you neither want to spend your hard-earned 1,000 Runes on a necklace nor you wish to skip Blackguard Big Boggart’s questline, you can make your way through Mt. Gelmir. However, this method requires a bit of platforming, and you must face a deadly troll at the end of the path.

Here’s how to reach Volcano Manor from Mt. Gelmir:

  • Instead of speaking with Rya in Liurnia of the Lakes, avoid speaking to her and progress the story line until you reach the Altus Plateau.
  • Again, you can either use the Grand Lift of Dectus or clear the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
  • After reaching Altus Plateau, go toward the Bridge of Iniquity at the valley’s northern end.
  • Turn right from the bridge to find a Spirit Spring (the wind vortex). Jumping on this spring while mounting the Torrent will push you to the top of the cliffs.
  • Next, go west on the cliffside and activate the Bridge of Iniquity Site of Grace.
  • Continue going on the path on your Torrent until you find a ladder with torches on its sides. Climb the ladder and climb Mt. Gellmir until you go across the stone bridge.
  • Next, climb on the three consecutive ladders across the bridge, use the Spirit Spring, and defeat the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast (Field boss).
  • Finally, jump down from the large rock on your right side and go past the troll guard to reach Volcano Manor.

The Abductor Virgin Method:

The Abductor Virgin Method:

You can follow this third method if you wish to save your Runes and skip the fight against the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast. It is the most unorthodox method but with a touch of creativity. Moreover, you will skip Rya’s quest for now, and you can start it later if you wish to complete Blackguard Big Boggart’s quest line.

However, this method does involve a fight against one of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring.

Here’s how to reach Volcano Manor by skipping Rya’s invitation and Mt. Gelmir altogether:

  • First, you must unlock the Raya Lucaria Academy by finding the main gate key.
  • Next, head to the Church of Cuckoo Site of Grace and move through the graveyard until you find a huge waterwheel.
  • This waterwheel is also a secret elevator that takes you to the depths of Raya Lucaria Academy.
  • Hop on one of the platforms and move such that the rotating wheel takes you downward instead of up.
  • Finally, the wheel will take you to the Raya Lucaria Academy’s depths.
  • Here, you will find an Abductor Virgin (the Iron Maiden with the spinning saw hands).
  • Next, you must wait for her to open the front of her Iron Maiden Chamber and extend her arms. At this point, get close enough to let her grab you and put you inside the chamber.
  • This move will take away all of your HP, and you will get the “You Died” screen. However, when you respawn, you will be in the basement of Volcano Manor. (Using the Twiggy Cracked Tear effect will save your Runes)
  • The only problem is that no Site of Grace is nearby to save your progress.
  • So, jump across the pool of lava and go southeast along the lava waterfall to find the Subterranean Inquisition Chamber Site of Grace; rest to save your progress.
  • After saving the progress, you can either progress further to reach Altus Plateau or return to any other Site of Grace and leave it for later on.
  • If you wish to progress further, go through the caves in the southwest and walk through the fog gate to defeat the Abductor Virgins Duo and activate the Abductor Virgins Site of Grace.
  • From here, you can either exit into Mt. Gelmir or drop down on your right side to activate the Seethewater River Site of Grace and explore Altus Plateau. Afterward, you can return to Volcano Manor by defeating the troll guard.

Conclusion:

Volcano Manor is one of the most-rewarding Legacy Dungeons with content-rich quests to support the lore. However, if you stick to the Elden Ring critical path, you can only access this region in the second half of the storyline.

Fortunately, there are several ways to get to Volcano Manor if you wish to explore it early on. Therefore, this article explains all the possibilities that you can explore to choose the best way to reach Volcano Manor.
