How To Beat Starscourage Radahn

Before Elden Ring came out a few weeks ago, gamers around the world speculated on the game’s trailer. From the moment they saw it, everyone knew that sooner or later they would have to face Radhan, the Star Scourge.

This huge creature is one of the biggest challenges the game presents us with. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to defeat him, but there are ways in which we can make the encounter much easier.

Radahn is one of the most difficult bosses in Elden Ring but, at the same time, he is one of the most entertaining. Here we tell you how to beat Starscourage Radahn and get his rewards.

How to beat Radahn

Where to find Radahn

To reach Radahn we must make our way through the Redmane Castle, and in general, we should not find much resistance. Also, we will find two lion-shaped creatures, but fighting them is completely optional.

If we want we can take advantage of the portal outside the entrance to transport us directly to where we need to go without having to fight. As we get closer we will hear that Radahn, Scourge of the Stars, went mad a long time ago, and is now an attraction for adventurers.

The reason for his madness is a battle that took place many eras before with another demigod. We can either learn what happened inside the game or watch the trailer where he tells us about it.

In the castle courtyard, we will find several friendly NPCs. Many of them we will have met before or we will meet them again at some point in our adventure. They are all here to participate in a festival, one that brings together a large number of warriors against Radahn in a very bloody activity. Of course, the winner can claim his shard.

To trigger the boss fight, we will have to talk to the host on the ramparts. He will open the door to the castle chapel. From here, we will have to go to the beach where we will find a portal that transports us to the location of Radahn. Arm yourself with patience, because the big test is about to begin.

The help of the NPCs

The fight against Radahn is unique in the game, as well as in the rest of the Souls saga. In this fight, we will not only be able to summon the help of one NPC but all NPCs at the same time. Also, if they die, we will be able to summon them again.

However, they will rather serve as bait to distract the (brief) attention of our opponent. This is because they don’t have much damage, and are unlikely to kill our enemy, especially in the second phase of the fight. Before entering be sure to find Alexander, Iron Fist, in Necrolimbo (the potman), and Blaidd, the half-elf in the Eternal Prison south of West Necrolimbo.

Similarly, we will be able to ask for help from other people in the multiplayer mode to join the forces of the NPCs. Especially since we won’t be able to summon spirits. This makes it much easier to beat Radahn.

Battle against Radahn

When we start the battle, Radahn will start shooting arrows at us from afar. Therefore we will have to dodge them and run forward to summon the first allies. Once they get close to Radahn, the demigod will focus his attention on them so we will have to call the rest before he kills the first ones.

If we have asked for multiplayer help we will lose the option of doing this fight with a mount, which will make it much easier for our enemy to reach us. In addition, with our goat-horse, we will be able to be faster to be able to resurrect all the fallen NPCs.

Doing this fight on foot is very complicated, so try to be on the mount whenever you can to have a better chance against Radahn.

Ranged strategy

In case your character is a ranged or mage you are in luck because this is one of the best ways to finish him off. We will be able to move around the battlefield reviving our allies while shooting Radahn. This will be essential to finish him off as they will help us as distractions. However, we must always focus on damaging him, so it is essential to keep the range, summon and shoot him with everything we have.

Arrows and spells that inflict poison are the most useful because they will weaken him passively.

Melee Strategy

Going melee against Radahn is the most complicated way to defeat him, but not impossible. If we are fighting against him without multiplayer help our goat-horse will be essential for our survival as well as the help of the NPCs.

We will have to move around the battlefield summoning them whenever we can, but also keeping an eye on our enemy to try to inflict damage. Our allies will gradually make Radahn have less health, however, in phase 2 the meteorites summoned by the demigod will destroy the NPCs.

Therefore, from time to time we must attract his attention by attacking him or approaching him. We must use all the upgrades we have in our inventory to improve the stability of our mount and our defense in general. Don’t forget to use items with poison as they will help us to speed up the damage process against Radhan.

Because he will have many charge attacks, we will have to surround him whenever we can to attack him from behind or below whenever we have the chance. However, if our enemy summons the purple skulls we must move away until they disappear as they will kill us in one hit.

Rewards

– You will obtain the Major Rune of Radahn, which you will have to restore in the northwest tower. Using it will increase HP, CP, and Stamina.

– The boss also leaves his memory, allowing you to buy very interesting items, including a colossal sword and a great bow.

– Also remember to consult the two-fingered merchant, she offers you a fantastic set of heavy armor.

Finally, Radahn’s death will unlock the stars, and a meteorite will crash into the east of Necrolimbo, near the fort. This will create a huge crater into which you can descend to continue Ranni’s mission, reaching the Eternal City.

Hint: You might wonder where Blaidd is.

After all these tips, the fight against Radahn will be much more bearable, but as with other bosses, the most important thing is practice and patience. Did our guide help you? What was your strategy? Tell us in the comments!
