By saying wet seasons, this includes both winter and rainy days. During this time, your chicken will not leave the coop so they won’t be able to graze outside. All you have to do is bring hay inside their coop and place it on the feeding trough in the back part of the coop. This way, your chickens can enjoy their feeds even inside their home. This is why it is important to build a silo and store as much hay as possible.

Dry Seasons

Dry Seasons

During days in spring, summer, or fall, your chickens can eat grass that grows outside their coop. These grass are the long and soft grass that you can find randomly growing on your farm which you can cut. The grasses that grow on paths that you cannot cross unless cut using a scythe cannot be used as chicken feeds.

To let your chickens graze outside, simply stand outside near the door of the coop, and open it using the right mouse button or any button that you are using as secondary action. In doing this, your chickens will go outside the coop to graze the scattered grasses. You won’t have to worry about losing them as they will automatically return to their coop at 5 pm.

Letting the chickens eat grasses during the dry season helps you in saving and storing hays in your silo that you can use to feed them when the weather is not suitable for them to go outside. In case you are running out of grasses for your chicken to graze, you have the choice to start a new patch using a grass starter by purchasing it from Pierre.
