In the beginning, you don’t need any item that is difficult to obtain. But as you make progress, you will see that advanced items need high-value ingredients to be crafted. Similarly, we have Chitin. There are a few ways to get this item.

Chitin is mainly used to craft saddles and a set of Chitin Armor. So, yeah this is an important item in the game. In this guide, we are going to cover how to get Chitin in Ark and its uses. So, let’s get started.

Ways to Get Chitin in Ark

How to Get Chitin

Chitin can be harvested from the corpses, but this can be done with the help of tools or dinos. Each one of the dinos capable of harvesting Chitin has a different efficiency.

Moreover, certain creatures have higher chances of dropping a high amount of Chitin. Let’s see how we can get Chitin.

First things first, you will need to have a tamed dino that can harvest Chitin for you. This can be done with the help of several creatures. Megatherium has the highest efficiency when it comes to harvesting Chitin from corpses.

Then on the second, we have Sabertooth. Similarly, in third place we have Therizinosaur. And then we have some other creatures as well that are listed below.

You can choose any one of these. Once you have the tamed creature, you will need to hunt down creatures such as Achatina, Dunkleosteus, Araneo, Oil Jug Bug, Leech, Trilobite, Diseased Leech, Dung Beetle, and others. As you hunt them down your creature will harvest its corpse and collect the Chitin for you.

The same harvesting can also be done with the help of tools such as Metal Hatchet, Stone Hatchet, and Picks. Although, Metal Hatchet has the highest efficiency of all the tools.

Another way of getting Chitin is by killing Scorpions and Spiders in the caves. For this method, the creature with great efficiency is Direwolf as this can get through the caves quickly and has high melee damage. Chitin can also be obtained by killing creatures around the ocean area such as Trilobite
