Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get to Moonrise Towers?

The Moonrise Towers is the most important location in Baldur’s Gate 3. It seems almost every quest, every dialogue, and every problem leads to this accursed tower. However, you can’t find the tower anywhere on the map. Moreover, the game doesn’t hold your hand to lead you to the tower.

So, how to get to the Moonrise Towers in BG3? As easy as it may sound, you must complete several tasks and travel through cursed lands to reach this tower and unravel its mysteries. Therefore, this article provides all the information you need to know about both Underdark and Overland Routes.

How to Get to Moonrise Towers?

Reaching the Moonrise Towers is an important step in your journey across the Unforgiveable Lands. You will unlock this tower after completing all your activities from the first Act of the game. Though you can get there sooner, you will get locked out from all locations of Act 1, so it would be best to complete your business first.

Secondly, you can’t directly head to the Moonrise Towers. Instead, you must travel through the Shadow Cursed Lands and find your way to the tower. Furthermore, you can take several paths to reach this toughest region of the game and find a way to get immunity against the Shadow Curse. Otherwise, your HP will deplete a lot faster than you can heal.

Reach the Shadow Cursed Lands:

Before you can find your way to the Moonrise Towers, you must first gain access to the Shadow Curse Lands. There are two paths that lead to this region of Baldur’s Gate 3. Your path to the Moonrise Towers mainly depends on your choices in Act 1.

If you side with the Goblin Camp’s Absolute Leaders, you can take the Overland Route. Similarly, if you side with Druid Grove, you have no choice but to take the Underdark path.

The Overland Route to Moonrise Towers:

Firstly, you can get there by following the Overland Route. This route is accessible through the Mountain Pass after completing Lae’zel’s Githyanki Creche quest. Before you can set out for the Overland Route, you must acquire the Spider Lute. Here’s how to reach the Shadow Cursed Lands from the Overland Route:

  • You can acquire the Spider Lute from Minthara. Either side with her or romance her to get this item or loot it from her corpse if you helped Tieflings instead.
  • Next, head to the Goblin Camp and side with the Absolute Leader to unlock the Mountain Pass.
  • You can reach the Mountain Pass by going east from the Goblin Camp or by taking the western bridge from the Githyanki Patrol.
  • Once you reach the pass, head to the Rosymorn Monastery Trail and complete the Lae’zel’s Githyanki Creche quest.
  • Finally, take the northern path from the trail until you start seeing animal corpses along the path; this marks the transition zone to the Shadow Cursed Lands.
  • Soon after entering the region, you will meet with a Druider, Kar’niss.
  • Playing his tune on the Spider Lute will give you the moonlantern, an important item for traveling in the Shadow Cursed Lands.

The Underdark Path to the Moonrise Towers:

Similarly, if you side with Druid Grove, you are forced to take the Underdark Path. This path is based on the underground section that utilizes teleporters located in various areas. For instance, you can get to the Underdark region by solving the puzzle in the Shattered Sanctum. Alternatively, you can also access it from the portal located in Aunt Ethel’s Lair.

  • Once you get to the Underdark Region by taking any of the above paths, you can access various quests and activities there.
  • However, the main goal is to make your way to the center of the zone, where you will find a ship.
  • Next, use the ship to sail to the Grymforge area. Again, you can complete various activities in this region and defeat the Grym Boss.
  • After completing your business in Grymforge, take the elevator at the end of the corridor to enter the Shadow Cursed Region.
  • The next step is to acquire the moonlantern after the ambush encounter with Kar’niss.

The Last Light Inn:

The Last Light Inn is an important location where you will meet several NPCs and gain special items. You can take Harper’s help to get there. Though this inn is equally important for the Overland Route, its real importance is for the Underdark Path. Your main goal here is to free the Pixie to acquire Pixie’s Blessing. This item allows you to travel through the Shadow Curse Lands without carrying around the moonlantern.

Once you reach the Last Light inn, speak with Jaheira if you took the Underdark Path to get the Moonlantern. Secondly, you should speak with Isobel to get the Pixie’s Blessing for traveling freely around the Shadow Curse Lands. The second step is important regardless of which path you took to this region.

Find the Moonrise Towers:

After completing your business in the Last Light Inn, you are all set to go for the Moonrise Tower. In this regard, the path that you took doesn’t really matter anymore. So, exit the inn and take the southwestern path until you reach the Tollhouse.

Finally, go across the bridge through the Tollhouse to reach the Reithwin Town. You will find several useful places to visit and restock your inventory before heading inside the Moonrise Towers.

Next, take the southwestern path in the town area to find the Moonrise Towers Waypoint just near The Waning Moon. From here, you have two choices: either take the straightforward route and tackle the foes head-on or take the sneaky path.

For the first path, go across the bridge and face whatever fate awaits you on the other side. Beware, the enemies and challenges in this path can be pretty challenging, especially if you don’t have enough upgrades.

Secondly, if you prefer the sneaky option, you can avoid most, if not all, of the challenges. First, head back to the Tollhouse and exit from the southern side. Next, jump over the rocks near the water stream and try to cross the small gap. Finally, climb the small but steep slope to reach the tower’s entrance without facing any foes.

Conclusion:

The Moonrise Towers is an important location in Baldur’s Gate 3. Previously, it was the last location where the early access ended. However, with the release of the full version, you can now access the quests, loot, and activities in the tower. So, how to get to the Moonrise Towers in BG3? Well, this article explains everything you need to know from multiple perspectives.
