How to Get Void Chicken in Stardew Valley

What Is a Void Chicken in Stardew Valley

Considering Stardew Valley is a framing simulation game, it would be unsurprising that there are animals that need to be taken care of which, in the long run, would help you provide stable resources and income.

Among such animals are chickens which, similar in real life, are really one of the primary sources of farm goods. Also, they come in different types. Depending on their colors, Stardew Valley’s chickens fall into five different categories; these colors are namely White, Brown, Blue, and Golden. The last type of chicken is a bit unique–the Void Chicken in Stardew Valley.

Void Chickens are dark-looking chickens that, when fed regularly, would reach maturity after 3 nights. A matured Void Chicken lays a Void Egg every day.

Anyhow, how can one get a hold of such peculiar-looking Void Chicken?

How to Get a Void Chicken in Stardew Valley

How to Get Void Chicken

It is such a long-standing debate whether the chicken or the egg came first. But, in the end, it all comes down to an egg hatching, revealing a chick that will eventually grow into a chicken. Void Chickens in Stardew Valley follow the same cycle–you need to have Void Eggs first and wait for them to hatch.

But, for the Void Eggs to hatch successfully, they need to be incubated. For this reason, you need to have an Incubator which is a tool solely designed to shelter chicken and duck eggs until they are hatched.

All chickens, including Void Chickens, of course, take 5 days, 16 hours, and 40 minutes (or simply 9,000 minutes) to completely hatch the eggs. With a Coopmaster Profession, the processing time for Void Eggs inside the Incubator is greatly reduced by half, leaving you with approximately 3 days to wait for your Void Chicken in Stardew Valley.

Coop Level Requirement

Coop Level Requirement

Hatching eggs seems like a simple task since all you have to do is have an Incubator, put the eggs inside then wait. However, you might be missing one thing: where can you get an Incubator?

The Incubator comes with the Big Coop and the Deluxe Coop. So basically, you need to have atleast a Big Coop in order to be able to take care of Void Chickens on your farm. To upgrade your basic coop into a bigger one, you need 400 pieces of wood, 150 stones, and 10,000 amount of gold. Once you have the required resources, all that’s left to do is visit Robin and avail her services for upgrading your Coop. Expanding your coop enables it to house up to 8 animals.

Also, upon upgrading your coop into a Big Coop, you will find the Incubator to the left of the hay hopper. Just take note that if your coop is at its maximum capacity already and you have an egg that’s about to be hatched, you have to free a slot in the coop so that the Incubator could let loose the chick; you could either sell an animal or just move it into another coop.

Where to Obtain Void Egg

Say, you have your Big Coop and Incubator ready. Now, the next thing you need to look for is a Void Egg which will eventually start the reproduction of Void Chickens on your farm.

Void Egg From the Witch

Void Egg

Once you had built and upgraded your Coop into a Big Coop, there is a chance that an event could be triggered and this is the Witch visiting your coop at night. While asleep, the Witch could fly over the coop and leave a Void Egg behind. However, waiting on this event to take place to obtain a Void Egg, not to discourage you, can be a bit unreliable since the chances are ultimately small.

The possibility of the Witch visiting the coop is only 1% and this does not necessarily guarantee a drop of Void Egg.

Purchasing from Krobus

How to Get Void Chicken in Stardew Valley - Krobus

Krobus is the least hostile monster, in fact, the only friendly monster in Stardew Valley. But, since he is still a monster, he still lives a little isolated from the villagers; he lives in the sewers. Aside from it being Krobus’ place of abode, there is also a shop managed by Krobus wherein you could avail of a Void Egg.

The Void Egg is sold by Krobus for 5,000 gold. It could be said that Krobus’ Shop is a much more reliable source of the Void Egg, compared to the Witch. His shop is open all day and every day, even when there is a festival going on.

The only problem you would encounter in attempting to buy a Void Egg from Krobus is that you first have to gain access to the sewers. And in order to do so, you should have the Rusty Key which is rewarded to you by completing a certain quest. But, nonetheless, once you secured access to the sewers, you could freely visit Krobus’ Shop and buy Void Eggs whenever you need.

Other Sources of Void Egg

Aside from the mentioned sources of Void Egg above, there are also other sources of this egg although it still happens under the influence of chances and maybe, luck.

If you happen to be married to Shane, there is a chance that he will give you a Void Egg as a present, particularly on a rainy day. Putting a Void Salmon on a fish pond and reaching a population of 9 on that specific pond, will also possibly result in you getting a Void Egg.

Uses of Void Chicken Eggs

Regenerating Effects

Eggs of Void Chickens, upon consumption, could restore both your energy and health. It could restore 38, 53, 68, or up to 98 energy depending on the quality of the egg. On the other hand, you could regenerate 17, 23, 30, or 44 health, also depending on its quality.

Profit

A Void Chicken in Stardew Valley could be sold for 252 gold when it is a newborn one while a matured chicken with a maximum heart’s price could go up to 1,040 gold. Consequently, its egg could be sold, too.

A regular Void Egg could be sold for 65 gold, 81 gold for a silver-quality one, 97 gold for a gold-quality, and lastly, 130 gold for one with an iridium-quality. It might not be a significantly high price but, considering that Void Chickens lay eggs every day, it is a good source of regular profit.

Recipe

Void Eggs, with the use of a Mayonnaise Machine, are used to make Void Mayonnaise. But, aside from that, it could be used as an ingredient to prepare delicious in place of regular chicken and duck eggs.

They are used to cook recipes namely Fried Egg, Omelet, Pancakes, Chocolate Cake, Pink Cake, Cookie, Blueberry Tart, and Crab Cakes.

Gifting

Although it could be used to make delicious foods, the Void Egg simply just does not appeal to the villagers. The only people in town who would be delighted to receive it are Krobus and Sebastian, the others just seem to either dislike or hate it.
