What is the Glittering Boulder

Upon your arrival in Pelican Town, you will be welcomed by both the town Mayor and Robin. They will tell you the things that you have to expect in living here and how it actually feels like living on a farm. However, you will realize that Pelican Town is not the only place that you will get to explore during your stay. Some map areas will be discovered and opened upon finishing particular tasks. One example that you will surely encounter during your early stay here is the glittering boulder.

The glittering boulder is simply a clump of boulders that are all shining. However, this blocks a passage that you can also explore on your journey. For you to maximize and fully enjoy your life here in Pelican Town, you have to familiarize every corner of the map to make sure that you do not miss a single thing about the story and its secrets.

That being said, we want to help you get a good start in the game by telling you all about the glittering boulder in Stardew Valley.

Where to Locate the Glittering Boulder

The Mines

While you are still learning the basics of the game, it would be better if you still find time to take a stroll around the town in order to familiarize every location.

If you ever landed near The Mines, you will be able to notice a bridge above a river. Just in front of the bridge and right beside the main entrance of The Mines, you will see a clump of big boulders with purple-shining elements – this is what we call the glittering boulder.

If you still have not seen The Mines, you can find it in the northeastern part of Robin’s Carpenter’s Shop.

How to Remove the Glittering Boulder

Fish Tank Bundles

Here comes the real question – how can you remove the glittering boulder and prevent it from blocking the river flow?

For you to be able to remove this glittering boulder, you will have to complete one of the bundles from the Community Center. Specifically, the Fish Tank bundles. Just a spoiler, this will not be an easy task. It will take a lot of your time to complete this as you will be fishing from different spots on the map.

JojaMart

Although you can dodge this long task by availing of the JojaMart membership for 5,0000 gold, it is still better if you give it a try. Plus, doing the task on your own will also significantly increase your fishing proficiency.

Manual Fishing

Disregarding the concept of the JojaMart membership, here is what you have to do to complete the Fish Tank bundles.

Although it will surely be time-consuming, catching fish will be worth the hard work for you. Aside from increasing your fishing skills, some fish that you can catch will also be a good source of profit. Here, you will have to catch a specific type of fish per bundle. All in all, there will be seven fish tank bundles that you have to complete. Each bundle will require varying numbers of fish of different types.
The seven bundles of the fish tank are the River Fish bundle, Lake Fish bundle, Ocean Fish bundle, Beach bundle, Night Fish bundle, Crab Pot bundle, and Specialty Fish bundle. To make it easier for you, here are the types of fish you have to catch for each bundle. However, you can also check out this article for more detailed information about each fish bundle.

River Fish Bundle

To complete the river fish bundle, you are required to catch four different types of fish that can be found on the Riverlands farm, Hill-Top Farm, and Forest Farm. The four types of fish needed for this bundle are Sunfish, Catfish, Shad, and Tiger Trout.

Completing this will grant you 30x baits.

Lake Fish Bundle

This bundle also needs four different types of fish that you can find in the Moutain Lake and in the Wilderness Farm. These fish types are Largemouth Bass, Carp, Bullhead, and Sturgeon. This bundle will reward you with 1x Dressed Spinner upon completion.

Ocean Fish Bundle

The ocean fish bundle also required you to catch four different types of fish. These fish types are specifically Sardine, Tuna, Red Snapper, and Tilapia. Completing this bundle will reward you 5x Warp Totem: Beach.

Night Fishing Bundle

This bundle might be a little difficult for you since the required types of fish only appear during a specific time of the day which is obviously every night. Compared, to previous bundles, this will only ask you to catch three types which are Walleye, Bream, and Eel. This bundle will then reward you with 1x Small Glow Ring.

Crab Pot Bundle

For this particular bundle, you actually won’t be fishing manually just like in other bundles as you will have to make use of your crab pots. That being said, you will be required to catch five different types of fish in your crab pots. The choices that you have are Lobster, Crayfish, Crab, Cockle, Mussel, Shrimp, Snail, Periwinkle, Oyster, and Clam.

Catching five of any of these will reward you 3x Crab Pots.

Specialty Fish Bundle

Just like in the other bundles, four different fish types are also required to complete this. These are Pufferfish, Ghostfish, Sandfish, and Woodskip. This bundle will reward you 5x Dish O’ The Sea upon completion.

Rewards for Removing the Glittering Boulder (pan ore minerals)

Copper Pan from Willy

By successfully completing all the fish tank bundles, you will notice on the next day that the glittering boulder has already been removed. Other than that, Willy will give you a Copper Pan that you can use in panning ore minerals in this area.

You can do this by approaching a shining spot on the water and interacting with it while you are holding the pan.
