Stardew Valley House Upgrades

Your Farmhouse in Stardew Valley

After a tiring day of attending to your farm chores, completing a series of quests, or embarking on a dangerous adventure inside caves, nothing beats a good rest inside your cozy home. At the beginning of the game, you are automatically granted a Farmhouse in Stardew Valley which serves as your permanent residence.

Your initial farmhouse, although simple and not too extravagant in size, has the immediate necessities to call it home. It is a single-room house with a single bed, a hearth to warm you on chilly days, a floor mat, and an old television. It also has minimal decorations that follow the farm style you had chosen.

Other than these built-in accessories in your Farmhouse, you can also add furniture, and change the floorings and wallpapers. On top of that, if designing your farmhouse is such a fun activity for you, here’s great news! You can also upgrade your farmhouse in Stardew Valley.

Here’s the Stardew Valley House Upgrades guide to help.

Farmhouse Upgrades

Upgrading your farmhouse means expanding your farmhouse area, thus providing more room for furniture, and decorations, and possibly allowing company inside the farmhouse. Once you get married, an additional room will automatically be placed inside your residence, occupied by your partner. Regardless, you can upgrade your farmhouse up to times: Upgrade 1, Upgrade 2, and Upgrade 3.

But, before going into the details of each farmhouse upgrade, find out first how you could upgrade it.

Where to Upgrade Farmhouse

Carpenter’s Shop

Stardew Valley House Upgrades - Carpenter’s Shop

To upgrade your farmhouse, what you have to do is visit the Carpenter’s Shop which is situated in the Mountain, on the northern part of Pelican Town. Here, you are going to meet the town carpenter, Robin, who, needless to say, runs the shop.

The shop is open from 9 am to 5 pm except on Fridays which close an hour earlier and is closed for the entire day every Tuesday. It is also closed during festivals and particularly on Summer 18 for some reason.

Upon visiting the shop, simply ask Robin to upgrade your farmhouse and she would, without second thoughts, gladly oblige as long as you have all the resources required for the construction. Also, remember that the refurbishment takes three days to complete.

Aside from house upgrades, Robin also offers woods, stones, pieces of furniture, and farm building constructions; house renovations, too.

Upgrade 1

The first farmhouse upgrade that you could avail of costs 10,000 gold and needs 450 pieces of wood to accomplish. The upgrade consists of expanding your interior to cater space for the kitchen which would, in turn, enable you to prepare and cook dishes out of your harvests or forages. The kitchen also comes with a fridge that allows you to cook even though the items are not in your inventory.

Apart from that, from being a single-room building, there would be an additional room to separate your bedroom from the remaining parts of your house for more sense of privacy. Your single-sized bed is also upgraded into a double one, therefore, permitting you to get married (because that would, of course, mean that there you would be sharing the room with someone).

Upgrade 2

The second upgrade, as you might have already seen coming, costs a lot more than the prior upgrade. On the brighter side, the number of woods required is way fewer than the first.

To further expand and improve your farmhouse, you need 50,000 amount of gold and 150 Hardwood. In exchange for these materials, you get to have two more rooms. Inside one of these rooms are two, single beds and a crib. This innovation in your house provides space if you plan to expand your family by having children; you can say that the room is particularly built for them.

On the other hand, the other additional room is an empty one which you can use however you want. Aside from the extended rooms, the kitchen and the main bedroom are also made roomier to accommodate more decorations and furniture.

This stage of upgrade would also mean that you can start asking Robin for some renovations in your farmhouse in Stardew Valley.

Upgrade 3

The third and last upgrade costs two times the gold needed in the second upgrade which is 100,000 gold. Indeed, quite pricey but at least, you do not have to worry about collecting wood this time. What the third upgrade grants you is a spacious cellar that you can access through your kitchen. For your information, a cellar is a storage place for casks that are used to age products like cheese and wine to raise their quality and consequently, their market value.

As a bonus, you are provided with 33 casks as soon as the cellar is built. But, as mentioned earlier, the cellar has a generous area and therefore it can hold up to 189 casks. Having a cellar gives you huge advances in terms of earning money since the products made there are undoubtedly gems in the market.

Further Renovations

As you upgrade your farmhouse for the second time, you will be able to renovate your house. By doing this, you would be able to have more space in your house. So, create some changes to its interior.

One of the changes you can make in your house is omitting the crib placed in the room on the second upgrade. Take note that if you decide to remove it, it would also mean that you have decided to not have more kids since it would prevent you from having one more.

Next is the removal of the wall which separates the main bedroom from the living room. Also, it gives easier access from the kitchen to the bedroom.

The last renovation you can make is the addition of two more rooms. One of these is placed south of what used to be the main bedroom. The other is located on the northeast corner of the house, connected with the children’s room and former bedroom.
