If you are going to stop at a station or if it’s your first time getting on a ship, then you have to dock first. Let’s see how you can dock your ship on a station. Now, to do this, simply target the station by pressing the default E key on your keyboard.

With this, you will be able to cycle between nearby planets. It can either be an enemy’s planet or a friendly one. You can also hail your ship by holding down the E key. However, it’s not a mandatory thing to do.

Now, the main docking part. Get close to the target station, and ensure you are within the range of 500m to that station. Now, hold down the default R key on your keyboard, and your ship will be docked at the station.

That’s how you dock your ship in Starfield. With the same keys and following the same method, you can get back to your ship and head to your pilot’s seat in order to travel again.

Docking allows you to move around your ship to perform other tasks freely and also board with the target you have just docked your ship to.

In order to start traveling again, you will need to get back to the pilot’s seat and undock your ship. This will allow you to choose a destination from the Starmap.

Customizing Spaceship

You have full control over your spaceship in Starfield. The game allows you to customize it with the available parts to boost it’s overall performance. You can attach different body parts to it such as the engine, reactors, and docker.

But, all of this stuff is available to be purchased by a ship technician. You have to head to one of these technicians and avail their services.

You can find the technicians in various stations such as:

  • Akila City
  • Gagarin
  • Hopetown
  • Red Mile
  • The Den

Ship Parts

Once you have reached a technician you can purchase parts such as Landing, Bay, Cargo Hold, Cockpit, Docker, Engine, Equipment, Fuel Tank, Landing Gears, Grav Drive, Habs, Reactor, Shield Generator, Structural, and Weapons.

All of these ship parts are purchased separately from the technician and attached to your ship. Multiple parts can be attached to give a boost to the different stats of your ship such as its speed, control, and others.

Ship Attributes

The overall functionality and performance of a spaceship is controlled by it’s attributes. There are a number of different attributes that affects your ship’s performance.

These attributes can be altered by adding or removing various parts to or from your ship. Attributes such as LAS, BAL, TOR, HULL, TOP SPEED, MASS, JUMP RANGE, and others are customized.

How do You Dock in Starfield?

To dock in Starfield, you will have to first select the target station by pressing the E key. Once you have selected the station, get close to it, you must be within its 500 meters of range. Now, hold down the R key on your keyboard to finally dock your ship at the station.

As soon as your ship is docked, you will be given options such as undocking, boarding, or moving around your ship. It’s a great way to give yourself and your ship a relaxing pause.

How do You Dock Enemy Ships in Starfield?

If you are close to an enemy’s ship, you will get a prompt on your screen. Reacting to this prompt with the mentioned on your screen will play a cutscene. Following to that scene, the enemy ship will be latched to your ship.

Once docked this way, you will get the same options that you get while docking your ship to a station.
