Where Is The Museum in Stardew Valley?

Museums are one of the most visited buildings in life simulation games because of the breathtaking displayed artworks. The same goes for the Stardew Valley Museum & Library which you can visit every day from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

The Stardew Valley Museum and Library contains a gallery and a library used to exhibit its collections. So, at the start of the game, the museum is still empty once the player arrives at the building.

But as a newbie gamer of Stardew Valley, finding where the museum is can be quite confusing at first. Having said that, we will help you find your way to the museum through this article. Plus, everything you need to know about the museum will be discussed.

Where Is the Museum in Stardew Valley?

To go to the museum, first, go to the east side of your farm. Walk straight until you reach the easternmost part that you can walk through. After reaching the east part, you will have to cross the river to arrive at the museum because it is located in the southeastern part of the map.

After successfully crossing the river, keep walking straight until you see a small stand. So, don’t stop walking and as you continue walking, you will see a green-walled building with a maroon roof. Especially At that moment, you have already arrived the Stardew Valley Museum and Library.

It’s that simple. Now you can go from your farm to the museum on your own. The next thing you should know after getting the directions to the museum is the villagers that you will surely or often meet by going there.

Villagers (Gunther, Abigail, Penny, Elliot, Vincent, Jas)

Among all the villagers in Stardew Valley, it’s not just you who is interested in the museum and its artifacts. So, upon visiting the museum at certain times, there is a big possibility of you passing by some of the regulars here.

Gunther

Where is the museum in Stardew Valley - Gunther

Gunther is the head and the villager who operates the Archaeology Center or simply the museum. He doesn’t leave his desk in the museum as long as it is during open hours which is from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The first time you visit the museum with any artifact or mineral in your inventory, a cutscene with Gunther will trigger. In the cutscene, Gunther will explain and will convince you to donate your item to the museum. After this, the archaeology quest will be activated. This quest will ask you to donate an item to the museum. After you successfully donate the first 60 items to the museum, Gunther will give you a Rusty Key as a gift the day after.

As mentioned, Gunther doesn’t leave the building until it is closed. This means you can donate to him anytime you want to.

Aside from the artifacts, Gunther will also ask you from time to time to search for missing library books to help him enliven the museum.

Penny

Where is the museum in Stardew Valley - Penny

Aside from the head of the museum, Gunther, you can also spot Penny in the library every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is Penny’s regular schedule except during the Summer season.

Along with Penny, you can see Jas and Vincent with her in the library. Penny tutors the two that is why they spend their time in the library these days.

You can also occasionally meet Elliot and Abigail while visiting the museum. 

Donations and Rewards

Aside from the quest activated after meeting Gunther, you can still donate any artifacts and minerals to the museum at your own will. Additionally, the good thing about donating different items in the museum is that you can receive rewards after meeting a certain number of donations or after handing such rare items.

How to Donate to the Museum?

To donate to the museum, here are the things that you have to do in order to donate items from your inventory.

The first thing you need to do is visit the Stardew Valley Museum and Library and walk over to the counter. In short, talk to Gunter over the counter. As you do this, a dialogue option will appear. From there, select the donate option. Upon doing this, your inventory will appear on your screen where you can freely choose which item to donate to the museum. 

After deciding on which item you are going to donate, you will have full authority in choosing which slot to put it in. After that, you will see these tables on the right side. Still, remember that there is no particular order or arrangement that must be followed. It is all up to you how you will decorate the museum with your donated items.

It is also important to remember that only one copy of any particular item can be donated to the museum. In other words, If a particular item is not yet donated to the museum, the description in the inventory will state that Gunther can tell you more about this if you donate it to the museum.

All in all, there are 95 items that you can donate to the museum. Also, after reaching a certain number of donations, Gunther will give you a certain reward. Finally, here listed below are the number of items donated by you and the respective rewards that you can receive from Gunther.

  • 5 items – 9 cauliflower seeds
  • 10 items – 9 melon seeds
  • 15 items – 1 starfruit seed
  • 20 items – A Night On Eco-Hill painting
  • 25 items – Jade Hill painting
  • 30 items – Large Futan Bear
  • 35 items – 9 pumpkin seeds
  • 40 items – Rarecrow #8
  • 50 items – Bear statue
  • 60 items – Rusty Key
  • 70 items – 3 triple shot espresso
  • 80 items – 5 warp totem: farm
  • 90 items – magic rock candy
  • 95 items – stardrop

After the rewards for the total number of donations, let’s break them down into more specific categories. Compared to, out of 95 items, 53 of these are minerals that you can donate. Here is a list of rewards you will obtain after donating specific numbers of minerals.

  • 11 minerals – standing geode
  • 21 minerals – singing stone
  • 31 minerals – obsidian vase
  • 41 minerals – crystal chair
  • 50 minerals – crystalarium

Artifacts are more detailed and require specific donations before rewards can be obtained. So, here is the list of needed donations and their respective rewards.

  • 11 artifacts including rare disc and dwarf gadget – burnt offering
  • 15 artifacts – skeleton statue
  • 20 artifacts – rarecrow #7
  • 3 artifacts including an ancient drum – drum block
  • 1 ancient seed – 1 ancient seeds and a crafting recipe
  • 3 artifacts including a bone flute – flute block
  • 5 artifacts including a chicken statue – chicken statue
  • Dwarf scrolls I, II, III, IV – Dwarvish Translation Guide
  • Prehistoric skull, skeletal hand, prehistoric scapula – Sloth skeleton L
  • Prehistoric rib, prehistoric vertebra – Sloth skeleton M
  • Prehistoric Tibia, skeletal tail – Sloth skeleton R
