Where To Find Godfrey in Elden Ring
Godfrey, the First Elden Lord is located inside a room called Erdtree Sanctuary. This can be found in the upper parts of Leyndell, Ashen Capital. You’ll enter this room from a balcony, and the fight will start as soon as you enter the room.
How To Defeat Godfrey in Elden Ring
Almost every boss in Elden Ring is intimidating, but some of them aren’t that difficult to defeat. Godfrey also happens to be a boss who looks brutal at first. But; isn’t someone who will give you a difficult time. Once you learn his attack patterns, you’ll be able to defeat him quickly without breaking a sweat.
First Phase
Like every other boss in the game, Godfrey also has two phases. During the first phase, he will use his Axe for almost every attack. One of his attacks during phase 1 will include jumping into the air and throwing the Axe toward you. In this situation, you need to dodge the Axe and then get back to a safe distance. Godfrey will come crashing down on the ground.
Godfrey will also stomp during the entire fight, and you need to avoid being close to him at this time. When his health falls below 75%, he will start using an even more powerful version of the stomp. During this entire phase, you need to keep on dodging all of his attacks, and only engage whenever you see an opening. A good thing about Godfrey is that his attacks are slow, meaning that you’ll get plenty of chances to attack.
Second Phase
After Godfrey’s health falls below 50%, the second phase will start, during which the boss will do everything in his power to send you to your grave. He will ditch his Axe and will start relying on his hands to attack you.
During the second phase, Godfrey will use a Grab attack, through which he will grab you and then send you in the air. Before you’re about to land, he will grab you again and slam you into the ground, which will deplete a lot of your health. He also has an attack through which he will hit you twice with his claws, followed by seven more claw attacks. Whatever you do, don’t get caught in this attack as you’ll get eliminated instantly otherwise.
Other than this, Godfrey will be using a few other attacks, including the stomp attack from the first phase. Your strategy during phase 2 should remain the same; that is to dodge his attacks and rush towards him only when you see an opening.
