What Is a Squid Kid in Stardew Valley?

Squid Kid

As you already know, Stardew Valley is a real-life farming simulation game. But unlike other farming games, Stardew Valley deals not only with growing your crops and taking care of your farm animals – it is more complex and exciting than that.

Believe it or not, Stardew Valley also involves action. The use of weapons in defeating enemies is also required here. The monsters in this game look different from each other and spawn from different locations. One of the most questioned monsters by players is the squid kid.

A squid kid in Stardew Valley is one of the hostile enemies you can encounter. They might seem funny so you might take them too lightly. These squid kids look like pink balls with faces that float in the air.

However, these squid kids cannot be found anywhere in the town. You can encounter squid kids by exploring a specific place. After reading this article until the end, you will be able to understand essential points about the squid kid.

Where to Find Squid Kid in Stardew Valley? (80TH to 120TH Floor)

Monsters have their specific locations. In the context of squid kids, you can find these by exploring the deeper levels of the Mines.

The mines won’t be accessible in the early game. The entrance into it will be blocked by rock debris. You will be able to enter the mines after the fifth day of Spring in your first year. You will be notified you are already allowed to enter the mines after receiving a letter first thing in the morning.

This location is comprised of 120 floors or levels. As you explore deeper into the mines, the resources that you will find and obtain in types and quality. Along with this, the viciousness of the monsters inhabiting the levels also increases.

To encounter a number of squid kids inside the mines, you have to reach floors 80 to 120. Once you reach these numbers of floors, you have to be ready for how deadly the monsters here are. Aside from the squid kids, other monsters that can be seen here are green slime, lava bat, lava crab, metal head, red sludge, shadow brute, and shadow shaman.

Dropped Items of a Squid Kid

After defeating an enemy in Stardew Valley, you can receive different types of loots and even experience points. Aside from the combat skill experience after using your weapon, different monsters also drop various resources.

When you kill a single squid kid, you will gain 15 XP. There is also a 10% chance of dropping a bomb, 0.5% for a Dwarf Scroll III, 0.1% for a Dwarf Scroll IV, 5% each for a Gold Bar and a Mega Bomb, 75% for Solar Essence, and 20% for a Squid Ink.

It might sound too good to be true, but there’s more to it than that. There is still a 0.05% chance of getting a Diamond or a Prismatic Shard once you reach the bottom of the Mines.

How to Defeat a Squid Kid?

As you have already known, squid kids are hostile creatures in the Mines of Stardew Valley. They might look funny but they can deal true damage to your player’s health percentage. Squid kids shoot fireballs that bounce off walls and ricochet back at you. The best thing to do here is to dodge their attacks and land your attack on the squid kid in Stardew Valley itself.

Even though the squid kid’s fireball deals great damage of 18, the monster itself is very nimble and can actually be slain easily as it only has a base hp of 1. Having said that, a single swing or attack of your weapon can already kill a squid kid. You can use any weapon you have since this bad guy only needs one tap and it’s dead. If you prefer head-to-head battles, you can use your sword or any melee weapons.

But remember that the sword’s secondary cannot destroy the fireball. However, if you want to play safe and take the fight differently while making use of the distance, you may choose to equip a slingshot. One hit and all drops are yours.

As an added bonus, you can choose not to dodge the fireballs and instead attack them head-on. Just like the squid kid itself, the fireball it shoots can also be pulverized in one hit. If you think you can easily deal with these squid kids, you might want to think twice about its variation – the dangerous squid kid.

Dangerous Squid Kids

The easiest way to differentiate the normal squid kids from their dangerous variation is by simply looking at their appearances. If the normal squid kid looks funny, the dangerous version of the squid kid looks way cooler.

Dangerous squid kids become yellow and now wear a pair of sunglasses. Compared to the normal squid quid with a base hp of 1, these dangerous types now have a base hp of 250. Its base damage also increased. The damage dealt with varies from 22 to 32. You can find them in the Mines during the Danger in the Deep quest, and in the Skull Cavern during the Skull Cavern Invasion quest.

One of the big differences they have is their behavior. A normal squid kid maintains their position, while a dangerous squid kid suddenly moves from one place to another. They sometimes hover over rocks and will shoot four fireballs at once which also bounce off the walls. Even though you can still take down the fireballs, it is still better to just dodge them or just directly attack the squid kid. This is because four fireballs at once can be too difficult to get away with.

All in all, the differences between a normal and a dangerous squid kid in Stardew Valley are the personal attributes. But the drops are still the same.
