Best Ways to Get Qi Gems

What are Qi Gems

Qi's Walnut Room

There are a lot of items and resources to discover and obtain in Stardew Valley. Some will be helpful for the progress of the main story, while some are only needed to improve the quality of life. But the thing is, you can only sometimes get everything through foraging, fishing, mining, farming, and fighting monsters. There are other important items that you can only obtain by purchasing them using Qi Gems.

Qi Gems are another premium currency in Stardew Valley. However, this can only be discovered by the player once Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room is unlocked. By then, the player can start grinding for Qi Gems.

For some players, earning Qi Gems is a little tricky and confusing. That is why we made this brief guide to help you understand what you need to do in order to collect enough Qi Gems.

One important thing you have to remember is that Qi Gems can only be used to purchase items inside Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room. As mentioned, you have to unlock the Qi’s Room first to start everything.

To unlock Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room, the players should first have access to Ginger Island by fixing Willy’s boat that they will use to travel from Pelican Town to Ginger Island. To help him fix the boat loathed behind the Fish Shop, you will need 5x Iridium Bars, 5x Battery Pack, and 200x Hardwood.

When you finally repair the boat and get to Ginger Island, it is time for you to unlock Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room. The player can unlock the Walnut Room by finding and collecting 100 Golden Walnuts. To make it easier for you, we prepared this guide to help you out.

After collecting 100 Golden Walnuts and unlocking Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room, the player will be able to collect Qi Gems by completing challenges on the special order board, activating the Shrine of Challenge, and exchanging them for Golden Walnuts.

Qi’s Special Orders Board

One of the most popular ways of earning Qi Gems can be found inside Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room. You can go here anytime by heading west on Ginger Island.

Inside, you will see the Perfection Tracker, a Vending Machine, and the Special Order Board.

The Special Order Board is the one you will see on the left side of the big monitor at the center of the Walnut Room. This is where you can choose quests that will reward you with a particular number of Qi Gems. However, you will be given a limited-time in order for you to complete the quest that you have picked.

Every Monday, the board refreshes the task flashed where you can choose.

There are 10 choices of challenges that you can choose from. Each of these challenges will give you a different amount of Qi Gems as the completion reward. Here are the Qi’s Special Order Board Challenges:

The Quests

  • Qi’s Crop: In 28 days, ship a total of 500 Qi Fruits using the Shipping Box. To make it more difficult, you will have to find the Qi Beans first. Plus, remember that selling crops to Pierre will not be counted. Upon completing the mission, the player will be rewarded with 100 Qi Gems.
  • Danger In The Deep: Here, you will be challenged to reach the bottom of The Mines. You can do this by using the staircases. However, you have to keep in mind that this will reset the unlocked purchasable gear from the Adventurer’s Guild. Once you accomplish this mission in seven days, you will be rewarded with 50 Qi Gems.
  • Four Precious Stones: The player has to look for 4 Prismatic Shards and place them in Mr. Qi’s collection box. This task must be finished within 28 days. But the good thing is that you can use the Prismatic Shard that you already have even before you start the quest. Completing this will grant you 40 Qi Gems.
  • Qi’s Kindness: In seven days, the player has to give 50 loved gifts to 34 giftable villagers. However, you can only give one gift to a villager per day. This quest will reward you with 40 Qi Gems.
  • Skull Cavern Invasion: The mechanics for this one are pretty simple—reach floor 100 of Skull Cavern in one piece. This will give you 40 Qi Gems.
  • Qi’s Prismatic Grange: In a span of 14 days, the player should place 100 pieces of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple items inside Mr. Qi’s collection box. To serve as a guide, you can look for the items in boldface from this list. Sounds too much but you can actually collect items even when the quest is not yet activated. Also, keep in mind that the items you place will not be returned. In exchange, you will receive 35 Qi Gems.
  • Qi’s Hungry Challenge: The challenge is for the player to reach the 100th floor of Skull Cavern without consuming any replenishment such as food and drink items. The trick for this one is to kill the big slimes with a heart to get the 10 HP dropped upon killing. Also, use the Vampire Ring and food buff before entering Skull Cavern. Make sure to finish this in seven days to receive 25 Qi Gems.
  • Qi’s Cuisine: Upon activating the quest, cook any food or drink items and ship any of these goods that will be worth a total of 100,00 gold. Make sure that only those with the word fresh before the name will be accepted, otherwise it will not be counted. This should be done in 14 days to receive 25 Qi Gems.
  • Extended Family: Catch the complete family of the legendary fish—Ms. Angler, Glacierfish Jr., Son of Crimsonfish, Radioactive Carp, and Legend II in three days and you will receive 20 Qi Gems.
  • Let’s Play A Game: Play Junimo Kart in endless mode and score 50,000 points within seven days. You will then receive 10 Qi Gems.

While you are staying on Ginger Island, Golden Walnuts will always come in handy whenever you need something to be done. Aside from paying it to the Ginger Island parrots to let you gain access to a new island region, you can also use your Golden Walnuts to the Vending Machine in exchange for Qi Gems. Since there are 130 Golden Walnuts in the game that you can use to unlock some areas, you will be left with walnuts enough for you to exchange them for 28 Qi Gems.

Shrine of Challenge

The Shrine of Challenge

Lastly, your last option for earning Qi Gems is by completing the Shrine of Challenge. This unlocks after the player completes the Danger In The Deep Quest.

Go here by reaching the 120th level of The Mines. Inside are vicious monsters that can drop Qi Gems upon defeat.
