Blasphemous Blade Location Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a vast game that offers an unmatched experience for all players. Whether you like to smash things, burn them, or make them disappear with magic, the game offers something for everyone. The Blasphemous Blade is one of the most famous magical Greatswords in the game. It is a foul-looking weapon that hides great powers in it. However, like all other things, acquiring this Legendary weapon is a quest in itself.

The task is simple, you must defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, collect his remembrance, and exchange it for his sword with Enia. However, you must first find his arena in the Volcano Manor, Mt. Gelmir. The only problem is that reaching is portion isn’t a straightforward job, and you must choose from one of the two paths. This article provides a complete guide about the Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring and how to get it.

Why Choose the Blasphemous Blade

Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring

Most weapons got nerfed in patch 1.03 of Elden Ring. However, the Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring is one of the few weapons that received an upgrade in the same patch. So, players who previously relied on the powers of the Sword of Night and Flame had to find a better alternative after the big nerf. As a result, the Blasphemous Blade quickly rose to popularity as the favorite Greatsword for all Faith-based players. It is a powerful weapon that greatly relies on magic and scales primarily with Faith.

The only problem is that its physical damage is pretty much comparable to any other sword. So, you must choose it only if you wish to see its magical damage output. The sword’s Weapon Art, The Taker’s Flame, is so powerful that it can even knock out Malenia.

When you activate the skill, the sword is set on fire, and everyone you touch with it restores your health. Furthermore, the sword also causes fire buildup on your enemies. In short, if you are looking for a way to get the upper hand on any battle in Elden Ring, I suggest that you get going for the Blasphemous Blade.

How to find the Blasphemous Blade location in Elden Ring?

Before you can start your battle with the boss, you must first find a way to reach his arena. Unlike most bosses in the game, he is an optional boss who you must find on your own. Fortunately, his whereabouts are well-known in the community. You can visit Rykard’s arena by making your way through the Volcano Manor. However, the road isn’t as simple as it seems, let alone the boss battle. To reach Rykard’s arena, you must choose between two paths.

Tanith’s Quest

Blasphemous Blade Location Elden Ring - Tanith

The most straightforward way to Rykard’s chamber is to complete Tanith’s questline. First, you must speak with Tanish to join the Manor. Feel free to proceed with this step, as it doesn’t affect the final ending in Elden Ring.

Once you join the league, complete all her invasion missions one by one to complete the quest line. At the end of the quest, she will teleport you to the Site of Grace near Rykard’s chamber. Most of her assassination missions are simple and don’t require much effort on your end.

However, you must complete the Leyndell Royal Capital Legacy Dungeon to unlock your way to the Mountaintop of the Giants. It is a whole other story in which you much collect both halves of the Dectus Medallions to unlock the Grand Lift of Dectus. It is a crucial step for the quest as the final assassination takes place at the Mountaintop. So, the best way is to unlock the area before joining the Manor.

Volcano Manor Legacy Dungeon

There’s a second way to reach Rykard’s chamber if you aren’t interested in completing Tanith’s questline. However, this path is a little more challenging than the previous one. Start at the Volcano Manor and proceed through the door on the right of Tanith’s chamber. Proceed along the path till you reach a dead end. Don’t panic; it is just an illusionary door that you can cross by jumping through it.

A secret passage waits for you behind the wall. Continue along the passage and fight the Bloodhound Knight and a few giant slugs till you reach the Prison Town Church Site of Grace. This area marks the beginning of the Volcano Manor Legacy Dungeon, so rest at the site before you start your journey.

The next step is to continue on your path, clearing the dungeon on your way. Beware that the enemies are comparable to the Stormveil Castle, and you will also face the deadly Godskin Noble Apostle on your way. You must make your way through the dungeon straight until you reach the Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace. After resting at this Site of Grace, explore the area for a while to find a magical portal that teleports you to the Site of Grace near Rykard’s fighting chamber.

I think the best way to reach Rykard is by completing Tanith’s quest line. It is a little time-consuming, but you can skip the enemies, knights, and the extra boss fight. However, if you are an explorer like me, you should go through both paths as they offer some spectacular sights and precious loot.

How to defeat Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy?

defeat Rykard

Once you reach the Site of Grace near Rykard’s chamber, you are halfway there. However, Rykard is counted among the deadliest optional bosses in Elden Ring. According to the lore, he has taken countless lives with his blade, whose souls share the same blood as Rykard. So, you must proceed cautiously and consider all possible ways of defeating him before starting the fight. Again, I suggest that you don’t take this fight lightly, as his might is comparable to Margit or Starscourge Radahn.

However, the developers took some pity on you and offered the Serpent-Hunter a great spear for this fight. Before the cutscene, turn left immediately after entering the chamber to find the great spear. However, I suggest that you should not upgrade it unless you wish to use it after the battle.

At the start of the battle, dodge the first few attacks and quickly trigger the spear’s Staggering Weapon Art. The spear throws waves of wind to knock out Rykard. So, the best way is to use the Weapon Art followed by two quick attacks. Moreover, you must preserve your health flasks as the first phase of the battle is relatively easier. You will have enough time to restore your health bar at the end of the first phase.

For the second phase of the battle, Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy, offers little to no chance of getting offensive. Even the Staggering Weapon Art doesn’t seem to affect the boss now. So, you must focus on dodging his attacks and getting offensive every now and then. For this phase, he will use a combination of all attacks along with the fire rain.

Don’t worry; the fire will only damage you after it explodes. So, you must keep moving while dodging Rykard’s attacks using the back-rolling technique. At the end of the second phase, the battle will be over, and you will receive Rykard’s Great Rune, the Remembrance of the Blasphemous, and 130.000 Runes.

The cheesy way

The conventional ways of defeating Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy, seem a bit tedious, even for the oldest Souls veterans. So, some players in the Elden Ring community have prescribed a cheesy way of defeating him. However, for this method, you must gather all the fire-resisting armor, spells, seals, talismans, armor, and gear.

When you have enough items to resist the heat of the volcano, you may start the battle. Wear all the protection against fire damage and stand in the volcano. The fire of the volcano won’t affect you due to all that protection, and you will be out of reach for Rykard. So, you can use any ranged weapon or spells to slowly deal damage to the boss. For the second phase of the boss fight, you must move a little to dodge his ranged attacks.

How to get the Blasphemous Blade?

Getting the Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring after collecting the Remembrance of the Blasphemous is a piece of cake. You won’t need to fight any other enemies or bosses in this quest. Simply head to the Roundtable Hold with the remembrance in your inventory and look for the Finger Reader Enia. Speak with her to trade the Remembrance of the Blasphemous in return for two options.

You must choose between Rykard’s Rancor and Blasphemous Blade. As you are reading this article, the Blasphemous Blade seems the obvious choice. However, I still suggest that you look up Rykard’s Rancor before finalizing your decision.

What is the cheesy way to defeat Rykard?

Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy, is a challenging boss having the same difficulty as Margit or Starscourge Radahn. However, there is a cheesy way, but for that, you must gather all the fire-resisting powers, items, and gear that you can find. However, you must move a little to dodge his ranged attacks in the second phase of the battle.
