Best Boomerang Monkey Path BTD6 – Comprehensive Guide 28.x

One of the more unique primary towers in BTD6 is the Boomerang Monkey. The Boomerang Monkey has a been a staple of the series since its introduction in BTD2, keeping its place as a fresh alternative to the Dart Monkey. Depending on which path you choose, the Boomerang Monkey can either excel against normal bloons, shred through everything with an ability, or push back blimps!

The image above is made by Reddit user u/dontwedoitintheroad (me!), as a part of my series of guides on each monkey. More can be found at r/btd6guide as well as here, and both will be updated alongside the game!

What’s the Best Boomerang Monkey Path in BTD6?

To answer the question simply, the best path for Boomerang Monkey is the bottom path; MOAB Press, to be specific. It’s an amazing support tower for any part of the game if you need to push back those pesky blimps. Each path has its own strengths, however, which will be discussed in depth throughout the guide

Top Path: M.O.A.R Glaives [B-]

Despite being the weakest path for the boomer, the top path has its own special niche in the form of normal bloon popping power. M.O.A.R Glaives has amazing pierce, tracking, and damage, all of which can be used to eviscerate early rounds. The issue with this path, however, is the fact that ceramics and blimps become the main issue as the game progresses. Due to this, the top path boomer should mainly be used during the early game. It’s recommended that you pair it with a good MOAB-damaging tower such as an AP Darts Monkey Sub or Arcane Spike Wizard Monkey.

The best crosspath for M.O.A.R Glaives is 4-2-0 due to the extra attack speed, but only when you pair it with a Top Path Alchemist, commonly known as an “Alch Buff“. 4-0-2 is better when alone due to the higher damage and lead popping power.

Honorable Mention: Glaive Lord. Top path’s tier 5 may be strong against blimps and ceramics alike, but its high cost and need for specific map placement (a loop for the spinning glaives to be effective on, which is typically only found in beginner maps) makes it an unnecessary buy. There are other towers that do more for a cheaper price.

Middle Path: Perma Charge [A-]

Middle path boomer is good against bloons, ceramics, and blimps alike – the caveat being that most of its damage is tied to an ability. Unlike the top and bottom paths, going for tier 5 is the optimal thing to do if you wanna use middle path boomer in your game. Perma Charge is an extremely powerful tier 5 that can carry you up into the late ’90s. At that point, you’ll want to be a lot more cautious when using the ability, and plan when it’ll be up so you don’t get caught by a load of bloons with the ability down! When paired with a MIB Monkey Village for camo/lead popping power and an Overclock Engineer Monkey for even faster attack speed, this tower can shred even the densest rounds (I’m looking at you, round 98).

The best crosspath for Perma Charge is 2-5-0, due to the added pierce from the glaives.

Bottom Path: MOAB Press [S-]

Last but definitely not least is the bottom path, the best path for Boomerang Monkey. Unlike the other paths, the bottom path’s strength lies in its amazing support against MOAB-class bloons (blimps). MOAB Press‘ rangs push back blimps, giving you more time to shoot ’em down. Having multiple MOAB Press‘ will allow you to push even more blimps back even farther, allowing you to permanently stall slower ones like the ZOMG. MOAB Press is best paired with the MOAB Glue Glue Gunner, because the slow from the glue allows the blimps to be pushed back even more. This tower can really be effective when you have low yet consistent DPS, as it keeps the blimps near your other towers for longer.

The best crosspath for MOAB Press is 2-0-4, due to the added pierce and extra knockback from the glaives

Honorable Mention: MOAB Domination. The bottom path’s tier 5 may be very powerful, but it simply costs way too much! I suppose with a lot of farming or if you’re going into Freeplay then it does its job well, but you’re never gonna really see an opportunity to buy this in a normal game. You’d be crazy if you tried to buy this in CHIMPS mode, but it would definitely prove to be a fun challenge.

Summary

There you have it, a detailed summary of the Boomerang Monkey from BTD6. Here’s a summary of what was discussed:

  • 4-0-2 Is great early game against normal bloons
  • 2-5-0 is a great overall DPS tower, but needs good timing with its ability
  • 2-0-4 is an amazing support tower for MOABs, and overall the best path for Boomerang Monkey

And that’s about everything! I hope this helps with your future BTD6 endeavors. Ciao for now 🙂
