Chimps BTD6 Guide

Do you consider yourself a pro at Bloons TD6? When playing on Hard, have you completed every stage? You can test your mettle one last time in CHIMPS in BTD6 mode.

You’ll need the best possible plan of action to succeed in this ultra-difficult setting. Today, we’ll teach you how to dominate Bloons TD6’s CHIMPS difficulty setting.

What is CHIMPS Mode in BTD6?

BTD6’s CHIMPS Mode is one of the most demanding options for those looking for a challenge. Defeating CHIMPS (sometimes spelled C.H.I.M.P.S) calls for an impressive arsenal of tactics. CHIMPS in BTD6 stands for:

  • C= No Continues
  • H= No Hearts Lost
  • I= No Bonus Income
  • M= No Monkey Knowledge
  • P= No Powers
  • S= No Selling

So, let’s discuss all these in detail below:

C= No Continues

You can’t restart the game when “No Continues” is activated. There is no middle ground; you win or lose in this game mode. Avoid making reckless plays that could end up costing you the game. Taking precautions could prove helpful.

H= No Hearts Lost

The game features a No Continues system, meaning that players who make risky decisions in the heat of battle may lose a life. You’ll lose the game as soon as life is you lose in a typical game of CHIMPS.

To the same extent, life generators are pointless in a normal game of CHIMPS. Putting a Spike Factory close to the exit can help to detect and repair any leaks that may have escaped detection.

I= No Bonus Income

When we say “No Bonus Income,” we mean that no sources of money are coming in. All Banana Plantations are forbidden by default (except before Version 2.0 and some custom challenges). Even Geraldo’s exclusive Quincy action figure has been prohibited.

Any method of making money that you can extrapolate in any way is prohibited. Even if a CHIMPS in BTD6 tower generates no money, it can still be put to good use. Some towers, such as Obyn’s Wall of Trees, Bloon Traps, and Pirate Lord, can “produce” money, but they only make as much as they would if the bloons were popped naturally.

In this mode following income generators are not helpful:

  • Merchantman
  • Favored Trades
  • Trade Empire
  • Benjamin
  • Abilities: Jungle’s Bounty and Spirit of the Forest
  • Ability = Support Chinook Cash
  • Supply Drop
  • Lead to Gold
  • Rubber to Gold

In this mode following income generators can still generate money:

  • Monkey Pirates
  • Pirate Lord
  • Bloon Trap
  • XXXL Trap
  • Obyn Greenfoot’s Wall of Trees

M= No Monkey Knowledge

Due to the lack of Monkey Knowledge in this game mode, relying solely on this tactic is not recommended.

If you want to win, you should use your existing game knowledge as a starting point and use your imagined Monkey Knowledge simply as a bonus. Also, please recognize Impoppable’s removal of Mana Shield in advance of CHIMPS. You may get ready for CHIMPS by playing Impoppable.

P= No Powers

In regular games, you shouldn’t rely on Powers or Instamonkeys to save your runs. Boost bonuses such as Double Cash or Hero Booster are not allowed in this game mode, so don’t rely on them. As with the Heroes, money spent on CHIMPS in BTD6 does not aid the team.

S= No Selling

In this game mode, positioning is crucial. Unless the tower is picked up by a Support Chinook which is sacrificed by Adora (Temples come in handy but are problematic for this game style), or destroyed by a unique map mechanism, such as the water that occurs in Flooded Valley, it will remain in place indefinitely.

Do your best to avoid making placement mistakes, as this can easily cost you the game. You should consider the effects of each tower’s placement, the towers’ usefulness at different game stages, and the towers’ proximity to one another. Alch buffs, fitting towers into range-oriented buffing sources, and tower placement generally are all scenarios where this becomes especially relevant.

How to Beat CHIMPS Mode in BTD6

Finally, if you beat a level on Hard, you’ll be able to access CHIMPS mode. The CHIMPS in BTD6 mode is the pinnacle of difficulty in Bloons TD6, as it severely restricts your options for completing the level. Although you’ll be playing in the same environment as Hard mode, there will be some new twists:

  • You’re only given one shot at this thing called life. Even one Bloon that manages to sneak through will spell doom for your team.
  • All of your towers are currently off the market. It’s crucial to plan your monkey placement and know your monkeys inside and out to make it through each step without incident.
  • After a round ends, the bonus money provided is drastically reduced. Not only that, but none of your money towers will help you make more.
  • There is no longer any access to Monkey Knowledge.

You will initially have a few monkeys from which to choose. From the get-go, your primary weapons will be a slew of Dart Monkeys, Sniper Monkeys, and, if the map permits, a few Monkey Subs.

Because they scale nicely with later-game Bloons, each of these is an excellent first-game alternative, but you should avoid putting them in strategic positions where more robust monkeys are needed.

With this information at hand, the most crucial aspect of playing CHIMPS mode is picking monkeys that will be in play for the duration of the game. As there is no way to recoup your investment in putting monkeys in CHIMPS mode, you’ll want to be sure they stick around for 100 rounds.

Strategy to Beat the BTD6 CHIMPS Mode

The rules for this mode make it clear that picking the right group of Bloons is crucial to victory. To clarify, you need to prepare your army for offensive and defensive Bloons. The defensive Bloons are there to back up the offensive Bloons, who have better offense but worse defense.

Additionally, go for Bloons that can deal damage late in the game. You can complete about a hundred levels in CHIMPS mode, and the challenge level gradually rises. You have a better chance of making it through the late-game challenges if your troops deal more damage as the game progresses.

Best Attack and Support Monkeys to use in CHIMPS Mode

Attack Monkeys

1. Wizard Monkey

Wizard Monkeys who choose the Prince of Darkness route are highly valued due to their tremendous potential damage output and inexpensive cost.

They must be positioned optimally for optimum effectiveness, as they gain strength when surrounding Bloons are popped. Wall of Fire is the ideal secondary way since it provides a backup damage mechanism.

2. Druid

The Druid with the Avatar of Wrath path is another excellent choice for a monkey. The more Bloons there are, the more influential the Avatar of Wrath will become, and it will continue to grow in strength so long as it keeps attacking.

Along with these two enhancements, the Avatar of Wrath receives a passive boost to its power whenever there are multiple Druids near it. It works exceptionally well with Obyn Greenfoot, who boosts other Druids in the area.

3. Heli Pilots

In CHIMPS games, heli pilots that choose the Apache Prime branch are frequently deployed due to their adaptability and effectiveness in combat.

If you can protect them against Lead Bloons, they’re a great pick otherwise. IFR is recommended as a secondary route because it allows for coverage of Camo Bloons.

4. Spike Factory

The combination of the Spike Factory and the Perma-Spike route is an excellent defense against escaping Bloons.

The Perma-Spike lives up to its name by remaining in place for a long time so that you can protect its intended pathway. The alternative route, White Hot Spikes, is preferable because the spikes can easily slice through Lead and Frozen Bloons.

5. Tack Shooter

If you take Tack Shooter down The Tack Zone, you’ll have a tower capable of slicing through most CHIMPS modes with relative ease. To function at its best, the Tack Zone requires a prime location. Like the Apache Prime, Lead Bloons is its primary weakness.

However, an Alchemist’s Acidic Mixture Dip can help you overcome this. Similarly, the Tack Zone is blind to Camo Bloons, so you’ll want a backup monkey handy.

6. Monkey Buccaneers

The Monkey Buccaneers’ Carrier Flagships route is a safe bet on watery maps. You can add land monkeys into your plan by placing them on the Carrier Flagship, which increases the damage done by your Monkey Aces and Monkey Subs.

At higher levels, their damage decreases, so you’ll want to pair them up with something else. A common tactic for water monkeys is the “sub spam” method, which is most effective on submerged terrain.

Taking a Monkey Sub and upgrading it to the point where it can act as a Sub Commander will allow it to aid other Monkey Subs in the area.

The next step is to construct additional Monkey Subs and train them in the same manner until they can fire Armor Piercing Darts. With your formidable naval fleet, you can easily defeat most Bloons, but the Lead and Camo Bloons will still be challenging. The enhanced range isn’t the only benefit of superior intelligence, though.

Support Monkeys

We’ve covered the offensive monkeys, but what about the supportive ones? You know that towers designed to generate income, such as the Banana Farm, do not function. However, any tower or monkey that boosts other players’ stats is handy.

1. Monkey Village

An example of such a tower is the Monkey Village, which provides a 10% boost in monkey mobility throughout the surrounding area. You may find several good routes for progressing in the game in the Monkey Village.

When you have Primary Expertise, your Primary Monkeys get significant buffs, and the Monkey Village gets its attack, although a slow one. If you don’t have a mechanism to detect Camo Bloons, Homeland Defense will let all local monkeys and towers attack any Bloon. No tactic cannot benefit from the Monkey Village.

2. Alchemist

By way of its Permanent Brew route, the Alchemist is yet another crucial monkey you can work into any tactic.

A permanent brew that allows neighboring monkeys to harm Lead, Ceramic, and MOAB Bloons while also increasing their attack speed and range. Some monkeys only perform well after chugging Permanent Brew.

3. Mortar Monkey

The Mortar Monkey can destroy practically every special Bloon in the game by using its Shattering Shells ability.

It is a function of the Alchemist’s Potions of Rapid Decay. Blooncineration is a highly potent attack tower, and this is perfect for taking out MOAB-class Bloons in the late game. All you need to remember is that it’s costly, so you’ll need to save up for it and prepare well in advance.

Which Hero Should you use in CHIMPS Mode to Detect Camo Bloons

Bring Etienne as your Hero Monkey if your current build lacks a solid defense against Camo Bloons. His ability to spot Camouflage anywhere in the world and deal decent damage, in general, makes him useful in various tactics.

Make sure you’re well-prepared before attempting CHIMPS mode. Finally, we advise you to use the Sandbox mode of a level to test various strategies mentally. Analyzing your methods allows you to see how you can enhance them.

Towers and Heroes that will not help you in CHIMPS Mode

  • In CHIMPS mode, Benjamin does not donate any money, and he can also lose cash while using Bloon Trojan or Syphon Funding.
  • Even if they deal respectable damage, Upper Path 3 Buccaneers (Merchantman, Trade Empire, Favored Trades) do not reward their allies in CHIMPS with gold.
  • Banana Farms are disabled. Therefore Monkey Town is inoperable, and Monkeyopolis is unaffordable.
  • Since the red bloon that emerges from an impacted MOAB class bloon is only worth one dollar, you can lose alot of money with the Bloon Master Alchemist. Even worse, neither the $50 bonus from the Lead to Gold upgrade nor the additional cash per pop from the Rubber to Gold upgrade pan out.

General Tips to Follow while Playing the CHIMPS Mode in BTD6

Tip#1: Strategic Placement

Due to the lack of a market, your tower placement must be strategic; it must serve you throughout the game, not hinder you later on, and not cost you too much to maintain. From round 6 to round 100, you’ll want to choose which towers to construct carefully.

Do not use a tower designed for the early game, with one designed for the midgame or the late game, and vice versa. It is essential to lay the groundwork for your midgame and endgame strategies in the early going.

Tip#2: Upgrades and Towers

It’s essential to choose upgrades and towers correctly. Any blunder in ability timing or placement of a tower might result in a loss, as there is no way to sell your towers or continue after losing a single life.

Tip#3: Strategic Selection of Towers

Due to the lack of supplemental income from farms and other sources, it is prudent to wait to build defensive towers until necessary.

Tip#4: Practice

If you’ve gotten a feel for the map’s early and mid-game techniques but are still trying to complete CHIMPS, try out your planned late-game strategies in Sandbox Mode. It can be disheartening to start over when you’ve made it to Round 90+ and still losing.

Sometimes, even if you only lost by a hair, you’ll need to switch up your tower composition to win those tough games. Remember to stick to your budget and turn off Monkey Knowledge to acquire more realistic outcomes. In addition, Challenge Editor allows you to rerun the previous round if you lose.

Tip#5: Support Towers

Make use of towers for support (Support Towers). The towers are inexpensive and serve practical purposes, such as calming traffic. The MOAB Glue, Bloon Sabotage, and MOAB Press are all examples of such weapons. The outcome of a game may depend on these.

Tip#6: Carefully Choose Towers for Defense Strategy

Upgrade your defensive structures. Adding Monkeys like a top-path Alchemist, Overclock, or even a Village can be crucial. As a rule, tower buffs work best with those who deal less damage but have a higher attack speed.

Tip#7: Plan Early

The early game varies greatly. After establishing yourself in the early game, you should prioritize damage and penetration until the late game, when you should prioritize MOAB damage, ceramic damage, and damage in general.

Tip#8: Learn about the Towers

Perform some tower tests! Find out what they’re good at and what they’re not. Play with heroes that complement your tactic. Don’t rely on just one tactic, no matter how effective it is. In other words, your tactics will only sometimes be successful on every map. Because of this, you will improve dramatically.

Tip#9: Save for Tier-5 Upgrade

As the game progresses into the late game, it’s always a good idea to save up for a cheap Tier 5 Tower to keep on hand. Getting this tower before Round 63 is recommended due to the difficulty of that round.

Your tower will be within financial reach if you begin saving around level 49. Instead of hoping for a tier 5, you can try spamming tier 4s or strong tier 3s.

Tip#10: Buy a Guide

You should buy a guide if you want to complete more complex maps. If you don’t want to follow the advice blindly, you can still get decent results by mimicking the beginning of the game, which is relatively common, and then swerving off into your unique strategy later.

Tip#11: Practice to Make Yourself Perfect

Take the time to master the different rounds. This will develop gradually. There are easier rounds and more challenging rounds.

Tip#12: Learn about the Towers

It helps to target to win tough rounds. The tower’s effectiveness varies depending on the target it is attempting to hit. One type of tower you can operate by hand. More expertise is usually required for these.
