How to Get the Island Obelisk

What is the Island Obelisk

Going on adventures can also be a thing in Stardew Valley. By completing quests and other requests from villagers, you will be asked to explore areas and dungeons from different map areas. Sometimes, you even have to cross the water by riding Willy-s boat just to reach Ginger Island. For some, it might be burdensome to take this long trip to get to the final destination. If that’s the case, you might want to save up for an Island Obelisk.

Obelisks are pillars that can take you from one place to another by directly teleporting you to the destination. These are 3×2 buildings that you can place on your farm or wherever you want to put it.

There are four obelisks that you can use in order for your character to be warped to its respective location. The Earth Obelisk warps you to The Mountains, the Water Obelisk takes you to the Beach, the Desert Obelisk transports you to the desert, and the Island Obelisk brings you to Ginger Island.

However, obelisks will only be available for you in the middle to later part of the game as it requires you to finish prerequisite quests first. That being said, we made this guide to help you get your own obelisk on your farm and make your travel faster and easier.

Looking for all the Golden Walnuts might be too tedious for you plus the traveling time and gold you pay for Willy’s boat fare. But the good news is that there is a way for you to take a shorter route without costing you a single gold. It is none other than using an Island Obelisk.

To unlock the Island Obelisk, you will need to finish these three quests and activities.

Complete Community Center Bundles

You might have known this already, but the first thing you have to do if you want to unlock the Island Obelisk is to complete the Community Center Bundle requests. It is true that most of the events and quests in Stardew Valley will be unlocked and activated once you have completed the Community Center Bundles, so you better prioritize this one.

However, if you are not into grinding resources, you might also want to consider completing this by purchasing a JojaMart membership—easy peasy!

Complete the Wizard’s Quests

Wizard's Quest

After completing all the Community Center Bundles, the next thing that you have to work on is completing the Wizard’s Quest. Upon the completion of this task, you will not only receive the rewards but will also learn about the past romantic relationship of the Wizard.

Here, you will be faced with the most loyal guard in the Witch’s Swamp. Doing as told, the Hunchman will not allow the player to pass through and get to the Witch’s Hut. But even the hardest tree has a weak branch. By giving the Hunchman a Dark Talisman, he will eventually let you pass. This time, your mission is to get the Magic Ink and return it to the Wizard.

Magic Ink Reward

Remember that in unlocking the obelisks, completing this guide is the most important because upon completing this, the Wizard will let you use his magical book. This magical book is where you can purchase the obelisks.

Unlock Ginger Island

Another crucial thing that you need to prioritize is fixing Willy’s boat.

The day after you complete the Community Center Bundles, you will receive a letter in your mail. It is from Willy asking you to come by his place and take a look at its old friend. For you to fix his boat, you will need 200x Hardwood, 5x Battery Packs, and 5x Iridium Bars.

Once you have already fixed the boat, you will be able to explore Ginger Island by purchasing a ticket worth 1,000 gold.

Crafting the Island Obelisk

Wizard's Tower

When you have already finished all the needed quest requirements, you will now be eligible to purchase the obelisks from the Wizard by accessing his magical book.

Once you have opened the magical book, you can choose the type of obelisk you want to craft. In this case, you will choose the Island Obelisk. However, this will require you 10x Iridium Bars, 10x Dragon Tooth, 10x Banana, and a million worth of gold. It might sound too expensive but this is definitely worth your expense.

The Dragon Tooth can be found inside the Volcano Dungeon. The player can find it in the remnants of a dragon or by defeating Lava Lurk inside the dungeon.

Banana Tree

On the other hand, a banana can be found in banana trees. You can either plant a banana sapling on your farm and wait until it bears a fruit, or simply walk around Ginger Island and spot some banana trees. Once you see a banana tree with a fruit, interact with it to shake it and drop the fruit.

Iridium Bar

And then the other material you have to grind is the Iridium Bar. This item can be found by mining Iridium Ores. Head over to levels 115 up to 119 of the Mines to look for these ores.

Finally, make sure to save up enough gold and reach 1,0000,000 gold. You can earn gold fast by crafting artisan products and selling them. Other than this, you should also try growing different types of fish on your pond to harvest the finest products they can serve you.
