Stardew Valley: How To Complete The Goblin Problem Quest

The Goblin Problem Quest

The Goblin Problem Quest

The life inside Pelican Town revolves around more than just your farming life. Villagers exist to establish relationships and develop romance with each other. But little do some players know that even the NPCs have some romance happening—some are going strong while some are, unfortunately, not. You will only learn about this as a new and curious farmer by doing The Goblin Problem Quest.

In the quest called The Goblin Problem, you will have to deal with the fallout between the Wizard and the witch. After their separation, the witch took an important item from the Wizard called the magic ink. Now, it is your goal to retrieve and return it to the Wizard.

However, this late-game quest will require a lot of prerequisite missions and objectives for you to accomplish. Upon arriving at the location, you will meet a Merchant who is also a loyal servant of the witch. That being said, he will not make things easier for you.

Quest Requirements

Given that The Goblin Problem Quest is a late-game quest, you will encounter different tasks and quests prior to that. Some of those quests are actually the key to triggering this quest.

The first thing that you have to accomplish here is to complete all the Community Center Bundles or JojaMart tasks. Any of these will do depending on the track that you chose. Completing this will give you access to the railroad on the northern part of the map. Upon traversing this railroad, it will take you to the main setting of the quests which is the Witch’s Swamp.

However, finishing that task alone will not let you continue on the quest. It is also required to finish the Dark Talisman quest wherein you have to find it inside the chest of the Mutant Bug Lair. The Dark Talisman will serve as the key for you to be able to enter the cave that leads to the Witch’s Hut.

The Henchman

The Henchman

I’m sorry, but I can’t let you pass… I’d lose my job.

The Henchman is a loyal and hardworking goblin that guards the Witch’s Hut. Upon entering the Witch’s Swamp, you will see a straight path that will directly end up at the Witch’s Hut. Easy!

But this Henchman will not let you pass through. For you to make it through the Witch’s Hut, you have to do everything you must to please the Henchman, even if it means bribing him.

Where to Find the Lost Book

You already know at this point that Stardew Valley is full of surprises and discoveries. But even during the late game, you might still not know some things especially those secrets that are kept in the Lost Books.

These Lost Books provide vital information that concerns the gameplay or the storyline itself. That being said, finding all 21 Lost Books will be helpful for you throughout the game.

Artifact Spots

Usually, these Lost Books can be dug up from different Artifact Spots using a hoe. But sometimes, they can also be found by tilling the soil in The Mines or Skull Cavern, and by opening Fishing Treasure Chests.

One of these Lost Books is called Goblins by M. Jasper. This piece of information is extremely helpful in beating the Goblin Problem Quest. This states that Goblins possess an intellectual and emotional capacity similar to humans. They also have their own favorite delicacies, and it is Void Mayonnaise.

With that information, you can say that giving the Henchman Void Mayonnaise will let you gain access to the Witch’s Hut.

Obtaining Void Mayonnaise

Void Mayonnaise

Void mayonnaise is the best and perfect thing you can give the Henchman for you to pass through. In fact, you have two options on how you can get a void mayonnaise.

The first thing you can do is harvest a void egg from void chickens and place it in the Mayonnaise Machine for three hours.

On the other hand, you can also try fishing around the swamp while the goblin is still guarding the path. This method gives you a 25% chance of getting void mayonnaise.

Completing the Task

Void Mayonnaise Henchman

When you successfully obtain a void mayonnaise, hurry back to the Witch’s Swamp and deliver the item to the Henchman. You will witness how much power this mayonnaise holds over goblins that they can’t resist it even if it costs their own job.

Until then, the Henchman will move out of the way and give you access to the Witch’s Hut. Inside, you will see a purple bottle on top of the table. Retrieve it and deliver it to the Wizard.

Teleportation Book

As you deliver the magic ink to the Wizard, this will mark the completion of the quest. Plus, you will instantly experience the first reward from the quest which is the teleportation book.

Quest Rewards

Other than the teleportation device inside the Wzard’s house, you will still obtain access from different buildings from the Witch’s Hut and the Wizard’s Tower.

The Witch’s Hut

The Witch's Hut

From the Witch’s Hut. you will be able to use the Dark Shrines. This includes the Dark Shrine of Memory, Dark Shine of Selfishness, and Dark Shrine of Night Terrors.

Dark Shrines

Each shrine can grant different types of wishes at varying costs. However, you have to be careful of the wishes you use with the Dark Shrines.

The Wizard’s Tower

Wizard's Tower

Different from the first one, your access to Wizard’s Tower has a different effect. This means your ability to craft buildings on your farm that are wizard-themed and cannot be purchased from Robin’s Carpenter Shop.

These buildings are the Gold Clock, Junimo Hut, Earth Obelisk, Desert Obelisk, Water Obelisk, and Island Obelisk.
