How to Get Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

What Is Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

Like in real life, some trees in Stardew Valley do not bear fruit, but this does not render them useless or unprofitable–in a less vulgar word. The best example of this is the Maple Tree which, instead of fruits, is a source of Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley.

Technically speaking, Maple Syrup is tree sap, extracted from the Maple tree. Also, it is considered an Artisan Good. Although it does not serve countless uses within the game, it still has its own important roles to play and is required in completing some quests in Stardew Valley such as the Strange Note Quest and some Fish Pond Quests.

On rare occasions, Maple Syrup could be obtained after processing Hardwood in a Wood Chipper. But, there is sure a more practical way for you to gather Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley regularly.

How to Get Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley

Planting Maple Tree

Finding Maple Trees to extract sap from is a piece of cake since they are growing naturally in Stardew Valley and could be found in places like Pelican Town and Cindersap Forest. What’s more great news is that you can also plant them yourself.

To grow your own Maple Tree, you would, of course, need Maple Seeds. These seeds could be acquired by shaking or chopping down a Maple Tree, especially during the last two weeks of Fall, with Level 1 in Foraging. As absurd as this might sound, they could also be found in garbage cans. Also, by reaching a population of 9, the Woodskip Fish Pond produces Maple Seeds that may range from 1 up to 5 seeds.

Now, back to growing Maple Trees, its growing phase has 5 stages with an average time to maturity of 24 days although the growth time might differ for each planted seed. Each day, the seed has 20% of progressing, and using fertilizer ensures its growth by one stage each night, even in the Winter when trees and crops do not grow.

Crafting a Tapper

Now that you know how to grow your own Maple Trees, actually obtaining Maple Syrup is another story; it could be quite complicated since it requires crafting a tool in order to actually collect the Maple Syrup from the tree– the Tapper.

To get you not too discouraged, it will only be complicated the first time you would collect the syrup because once you successfully created a Tapper, you just need to put the Tapper on a Maple Tree. After 9 days, the Tapper would then be filled with Maple Syrup.

For efficient Maple Syrup collection, the Tapper is used. To make one, you first need to achieve a level 3 in Foraging. By reaching that level, you would acquire the crafting recipe for Tapper. The recipe for Tapper consists of 40 pieces of wood a 2 copper bars.

Nine days seems to be quite a long wait for the Maple Syrup to be ready. For that reason, Stardew Valley also has a Heavy Tapper which almost halves the time for the Maple Syrup to be harvested. With the Heavy Tapper, Maple Syrup could be ready after 4 nights. However, in order to craft in, you first need to purchase the crafting recipe from Mr. Qi’s Secret Walnut Room which is found on Ginger Island. The recipe amounts to 20 Qi Gems and consists of 30 hardwood and 1 radioactive bar.

Uses of Maple Syrup

As mentioned earlier, Maple Syrup has its own importance within the game aside from completing quests.

Profiting

For the amount of 200 gold, Maple Syrup could be sold. Also, despite being classified under Artisan Goods, Maple Syrup’s selling price increases by +25% when the Tapper Profession is selected by the player, instead of the Artisan Profession–most likely due to the fact that tapping is required in order to procure Maple Syrup.

Regeneration Effects and Recipe

Maple Syrup, in Stardew Valley, unfortunately, cannot be consumed. Just think about what these villagers are missing by not knowing how Maple Syrup would taste. Nonetheless, it can help regenerate 50 energy and 22 health.

Though the Maple Syrup itself cannot be consumed by the player within the game. It could still be used as an ingredient to make other goods all the while amplifying the energy and health value that could be restored by having the Maple Syrup-infused food.

Along with Sugar and Wheat Flour, Maple Syrup could be used to make a Maple Bar–the sole food that could be prepared with Maple Syrup. The Maple Bar can replenish 225 energy and 101 health.

Gifting

The Maple Syrup, itself, could also serve as a gift to other villagers. As it takes a while to harvest Maple Syrup, your fellow Stardew Valley residents would be most delighted with you giving it to them. And therefore saving them the trouble of having to wait for nine days. Particularly, those villagers that would absolutely love receiving Maple Syrup.

They are Abigail, Alex, Caroline, Clint, Demetrius, Dwarf, Elliott, Emily, Evelyn, George, Gus, Haley, Harvey, Jas, Jodi, Kent, Krobus, Leah, Leo, Lewis, Linus, Marnie, Pam, Penny, Pierre, Robin, Sam, Sandy, Sebastian, Shane, Vincent, Willy, and lastly, Wizard. Uniquely, Maru is the only one who might be a little displeased if you gifted her a Maple Syrup.

Tailoring

In terms of dressmaking or other threadworks, Maple Syrup in Stardew Valley also offers its benefit. Firstly, it can serve as the spool for the sewing machine. As well as for you to be able to make a Floppy Beanie. Besides, its orange pigment is also utilized for dyeing.
